## What is HealthSync for Home Assistant?

HealthSync reads your Apple Health data and sends it straight to your own Home Assistant instance — nothing else, nobody else.

WHAT IT SYNCS
- Steps and active calories (daily totals)
- Heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV)
- Sleep, with full stage breakdown (core, deep, REM, awake)
- Workouts — type, duration, distance, and calories for each one
- Plus additional metrics

HOW IT WORKS
HealthSync uses HealthKit's background delivery, so your data is picked up automatically as it lands in Health — no need to keep the app open. Manual sync is free forever: tap to sync any time, no restrictions on which metrics or how often. You can also sync your full workout history in one tap. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks fully automatic background syncing, so data flows without you touching your phone.

LOCAL-FIRST, NO EXCEPTIONS
There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party servers of any kind. Your health data goes only to the Home Assistant webhook URL you configure yourself. The developer never sees it, stores it, or has access to it.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Your own running Home Assistant instance, reachable by URL (locally or remotely, e.g. via Nabu Casa or a VPN). Set up a webhook automation in Home Assistant — full setup instructions, plus an optional companion HACS integration that turns the sync into ready-made sensors, are in the app and on GitHub.

This app is for Home Assistant users who want their health data in their own dashboards and automations, on their own terms.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-18

New health metrics — toggle any of these on in Settings: blood pressure, resting heart rate, walking heart rate, heart rate recovery, AFib burden, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, body temperature, blood glucose, BMI, body fat percentage, lean body mass, height, and waist circumference.

New: recover historical data for any metric (or all of them at once) from Settings → Sync History — useful if you started using HealthSync after you'd already been tracking something for a while. Shows real progress on big syncs (sent / remaining / percent) and picks up where it left off if paused.

Fixed: sleep duration could be double-counted if more than one source (e.g. Apple Watch plus another sleep app) logged the same night. Now uses whichever source tracked the most sleep, so totals match what you see in Health.

### 1.4.3 — 2026-08-16

Fixed an issue where syncing a very large backlog of data (e.g. months of Heart Rate history on a first sync) could fail repeatedly and never catch up. Also fixed Weight and VO2 Max history from before you installed the app never syncing — if this affected you, run Settings → Advanced → "Reset & Resync" once after updating to pull in your full history.

### 1.4.2 — 2026-08-15

Fixed an issue where syncing a very large backlog of data (e.g. months of Heart Rate history on a first sync) could fail repeatedly and never catch up. Syncing now makes steady, permanent progress on every attempt — including catching up an entire large backlog in one sitting — instead of retrying the same data from scratch.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-08-14

Improved the accuracy of Heart Rate, HRV, VO2 Max, Weight, and Last Workout
updates in Home Assistant — these now update promptly and reliably even
during very active syncing, rather than occasionally lagging behind.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-14

Fixed an issue where Heart Rate, HRV, VO2 Max, Weight, and Last Workout could
briefly show old readings after syncing following a longer gap (e.g.
overnight). These now always reflect your most current Apple Health data,
regardless of how large a backlog is being caught up on in the background.
