HealthTap never fails to impress me. ### 4/5 — Latest update is BAD *2016-08-08, version 6.0.0* HealthTap for Doctors has always thought very highly of itself. It's like going to a basketball game where the flashing lights, color commentary, and video and audio displays make the actual play on the court look dull and wan by comparison. But at least it more or less worked. This latest version is supposed to be a big update and improvement. Maybe it will be eventually, but it isn't yet. It is buggy and balky. I downloaded the "doctors" health tap hoping to register and connect with some other psychiatric clinicians to gain some practice insights for my patients. But alas, there is NO RECOGNITION for the advanced practice nurse practitioner. I'm NOT happy. There are EdD, PhD, among other philosophical "doctorates" that MAY or MAY NOT have clinical experience, but no place for the APRN who is often the front line clinician especially in rural areas? I implore the developers to kindly RETHINK this omission. Consider Joy Behar's failure to recognize our position in healthcare... ### 1/5 — Scary *2014-08-27, version 5.0.3* The endorsements this app claims to have convinced my to sign up for this against my better judgement. I have my name and medical license number. It said my account was being processed. The next day, the app said my email was not on file- there was no member with my email and I can't login. I tried writing for help over a day ago- no response. What are they doing with my information?? I can only imagine. I will have to lawyer up, but protect yourself and steer clear! ### 1/5 — I can't edit my profile on the app or online. Is this a scam? *2014-04-25, version 4.10* I'm an approved healthtap doctor but I can't update my profile. I have tons of awards, votes, thanks, and network connections. But I can't edit my profile - I tried on the app and on the web. The red circle goes on forever. What's the point of us doing all the work when it does not really help our reputation like they try to keep indicating. Makes me now wonder if this is all a scam. What I don't appreciate about this app is that it ls locked in the Portrait position. I'm left-handed and have a keyboard case on my iPad. Can't search questions or subjects. Whatever I enter it takes me to the same general questions page. 2. I get tons of notifications but when I tap on it, it takes me to the same general questions page. 3. The app crashes a lot in iPhone 5. 4. It could become a very cost-effective way to seek medical attention and get a second opinion. Those little questions they were embarrassed to ask their doctor, the thoughts they had just after the end of the visit, and the second opinion they really need can be answered by doctors who really want to spend the extra time and give that extra attention. ### 5/5 — A nice virtual patient care app *2017-04-05, version 6.0.7* I'm an internal medicine physician who uses this app to see patients after hours (patients who work during normal hours and cannot take time off) and because I enjoy answering patient questions (it's fun). This is a reasonably well designed app for virtual patient care for my needs (mostly casual use). The main problem with this application is that patient questions are submitted "raw" and are usually poorly worded and ambiguous. Thus, a common reply to patients is "see your doctor" because there is no sensible answer to what the patient asked. There should be a patient question "moderation" or "question review" where questions are reviewed with respect to are they appropriate. The patient questions should be filtered in some way: is this question something that should be asked on this system ... i.e., "What should I do about this crushing chest pain?" Is not an appropriate question --- the patient needs to dial 911 and get help live and in person. In some cases the question is not even coherent ... something like "I have big fingers" ... which may be a poor Google translation of a complicated question; incoherent questions should be returned to sender for clarification. The system is set up so that physicians can "invite" patients to see them over this system. For many older / non-internet using patients, this system is too difficult to use. Otherwise, this is a nice system and has a "free" and a "paid" mode of use. Thus, it may be possible to build an online patient base with the free mode and then switch to the paid mode when the demand / volume of patients justifies making the switch. ### 5/5 — Excellent learning tool for doctors *2017-04-03, version 6.0.7* There is so much doctors can get out of helping patients on HealthTap. HealthTap is fun, interesting, and always adding new features. Doctors are recognized for their expertise that is being used to help people. I find that it is a convenient and effective way to keep in touch with patients, answer their medical questions & solve their medical problems in a manner that traditional practice can not. This app expands the doctor-patient relationship into an area free from the influence (or, rather, encumbrance) of big health insurance companies and mega hospital conglomerates. It's a small but important step towards the future of healthcare: reconnecting a doctor to the patient without anyone else in the room. ### 5/5 — My favorite health app *2016-10-09, version 6.0.5* HealthTap is my absolute favorite health app. It is a great, safe service for doctors and gives us a great chance to help people in our spare time.
