## What is HealthTree Connect?

HealthTree Connect is a companion app to HealthTree.org, created for multiple myeloma patients to help them live longer and better with multiple myeloma. HealthTree offers specific help for your individual myeloma situation.  HealthTree helps you become an informed myeloma patient. 

With HealthTree, you can:

1) Find personalized treatment options at any stage of your disease.
2) Find clinical trials you are eligible to join.
3) Track your disease in one place with data automatically uploaded using Apple Health and HealthTree Connect.
4) Share your HealthTree profile, if you want to, with your doctor so they can provide better recommendations and second opinions.
5) Share your anonymous myeloma experience with myeloma researchers to help them identify the best treatments and new ideas for a cure.
6) View simple reports to help you make better decisions and improve your life with myeloma.
7) Find and connect with other patients in similar situations (coming soon).
8) Educate yourself about multiple myeloma through HealthTree University, a comprehensive online myeloma curriculum (coming soon).

HealthTree was developed by the Myeloma Crowd, a non-profit foundation. Multiple myeloma patients and caregivers designed the tool with the help of over 50 myeloma experts including Dr. Rafael Fonseca of the Mayo Clinic. Studies show that myeloma patients who see a myeloma specialist live longer than patients who don’t. This is because myeloma experts better know how to combine the right treatment for the right patient at the right time. HealthTree uses this deep experience from myeloma specialists to provide suggestions that you can discuss with your doctor.

HealthTree was also created to accelerate a cure for multiple myeloma. By combining our anonymous myeloma stories, we can help myeloma researchers see patterns in care. Which treatments are the best for each patient and in what order and combination? Are some patients already cured and why? This is what we hope to learn in HealthTree in order to cure myeloma faster. 

The security of your information is very important to us. Your personal information such as your name, birthdate, email address or phone number is kept secure and encrypted and is never sold. You own your data and can remove your HealthTree account at any time. By using HealthTree, you agree to share information (some of which comes from Apple Health) such as prior therapies, lab values, side effects, etc. in order to benefit research. It is only by sharing our collective patient stories and experiences that we can come to better conclusions and faster cures for myeloma.

This app is a great step forward towards empowering myeloma patients. Empowering patients means giving them control over their medical records and then creating a standard, independent/neutral repository that provides access to all key stakeholders to cure and care for us when we get sick.  This is what HealthTree is, the future of Healthcare. The HealthTree Connect app enables that vision by directly connecting my medical records at all of my hospitals with my HealthTree account in the cloud.  Keep up the great work.

HealthTree Connect uses Apple Health to automate the entry of my data in HealthTree. It is amazing, hours of entry is completed in seconds. This allows HealthTree to show me my treatment and clinical trial options.
