Once I got this app, I tried to check my pulse rate and my heart beats per minute and it showed me a number and I did it again and it showed me a little bit of a different number the third time and the fifth time and the sixth time and someone that I did it I didn’t even have my finger on the camera and it was giving me numbers that it just came up with by itself. It says you have to have your finger on the camera so we can feel the pulse or something like that well like I said it’s a scam.

This is a real, working technology - not a scam.
Our app uses the camera and light to detect tiny color changes in your fingertip caused by blood flow. This method, called photoplethysmography, is used even in some medical devices - but it’s sensitive to proper finger placement, lighting conditions, and motion.

Your phone’s camera and flashlight act as an optical sensor:
📍 When you place your fingertip over the camera, the app tracks how light is absorbed and reflected as your heart beats.
📈 This creates a pulse wave, and from this wave, the app calculates your beats per minute (BPM).

If you received pulse readings without placing your finger on the camera, that’s definitely not expected behavior. It’s possible the app was trying to find a signal and misinterpreted background noise. We’re already working on improving signal detection and error handling in such cases.
