### 5/5 — Excellent free app with great features

*2023-07-17, version 1.2.9*

I have not been able to find any other apps that do quite what this app does and for free to top it all off.

You can set alarms at different heart rates, export the data easily via email or other options. It seems widely compatible with different devices.

### 5/5 — Finally a HR app that actually monitors!!!

*2023-07-16, version 1.2.9*

I’ve downloaded dozens of apps looking for just one that will monitor my heart rate without having to look at my phone. It’s incredibly distracting and dangerous to have to look at my phone every five seconds to see ifI’m in my heart rate zone. Heart Buddy allows you to simply set an alert for your high and low HRs. Then you get an audible alert if you go above or below that range. Simple. Effective. I had trouble connecting my Polar chest strap at first, but another user solve the problem by removing the battery and replacing it. That also worked for me.

### 5/5 — One suggestion

*2023-05-23, version 1.2.9*

First I would like to thank you for developing this application.

One suggestion from my daily use is, sometimes the device lost connection for few minutes for whatever connection issues, and then the alarm would sound loudly, “sensor ware disconnected”.

This is a false alarm and I’m hoping you could add a configuration to allow us to turn off alarms when connection lost since often times, the connection will resume quickly. I’m using a wahoo device but the frequent false alarm is making it hard for me. So it would be nice to have the configuration.

 Thanks again

### 5/5 — Very nice!

*2023-03-27, version 1.2.9*

Need to set up. Easy to read the large numbers on the screen.
Thanks.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-01-13, version 1.2.9*

This is a great app. Simple to use, and works really well.

### 5/5 — This has saved my child’s life

*2022-09-15, version 1.2.9*

This app has literally saved our non verbal sons life more than once. We use it every night to monitor his heart rate and use the alarms to guard against vomiting and big seizures (heart rate increases with big seizures)
It also has alerted us to illnesses coming by nature of knowing what his normal heart rate is overnight and seeing increases over long periods when he is asleep. Brilliant app

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2022-06-18, version 1.2.9*

Thank you so much for creating this app. I’ve been searching for something just like this for years and it works so well to help us monitor our daughter’s seizures as she sleeps. The different kind of alarms help us identify different kinds of seizures that could normally be missed. I love the high heart rate alarm with a time limit to help identify focal seizures and the instant alarm for critically high heart rate which are us would be tonic-clonic. And the ability to share with devices helps with thick walls when we go on holiday so she can still sleep in her own room. Amazing amazing. Thank you 🙌

### 5/5 — Monitoring epilepsy

*2022-06-07, version 1.2.9*

This app stacks up well against my son’s hospital monitor and means he can go to sleep with less supervision/monitoring. So impressed and grateful to the developer for making it available - it’s life changing.

### 5/5 — You may have just changed our lives

*2022-05-01, version 1.2.8*

Thank you for this app. I have been trying so hard to find a solution to getting my six year old of hospital monitoring when he naps - even just for a bit. This, combined with a wahoo device has done just that. He hasn’t been wearing it during a seizure yet so we are still testing but it has picked up a temperature and it’s spot on in accuracy with our hospital grade monitor. This could really be what we’ve been looking for ❤️

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2022-02-25, version 1.2.8*

We have recently started using the heart buddy app for our 2 epileptic children. Finally after 4 years I can actually sleep. This app is everything we needed and more. Not all superhero’s wear capes. Sean the developer of this app, you are a hero! We are so so grateful to you.

### 5/5 — Life saver

*2021-06-08, version 1.2.8*

We use this app with a heart monitor to monitor my son for seizures over night. We have tried other monitors but this app is far better and generously offered for free. Disconnections are rare and we love all the options to customize it. We feel safer because of this app.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2020-09-08, version 1.2.6*

We use this as a seizure monitor and I am v impressed so far. Thank you to developers!

*2025-02-23, version 1.2.9*

can you make an update so it can connect to any watch

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-09-14, version 1.2.9*

Shame as I wanted it for my Epileptic Daughter ☹️

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-05-21, version 1.2.9*

Just goes round and round and nothing connects

### 3/5 — Henry

*2025-04-13, version 1.2.9*

Would be a good app if did not interrupt music stream. Incompatible with multitasking. A buddy for a heart, not a person.

### 3/5 — Compatible with apple watch?

*2022-06-12, version 1.2.9*

Is this compatible with apple watch i cannot seem to get it to work ?

### 3/5 — Please make compatible with OT beat burn sensor

*2020-02-24, version 1.2.5*

This app is everything that I’ve been looking for in a HRM. Real-time continuous measurement is exactly what I want, however, the app is not compatible with my sensor; the OT beat burn.

Easy 5-star if compatibility for the OT beat burn is added.

### 4/5 — The BEST real time heart app around

*2026-06-07, version 1.2.9*

For some time I’ve been looking for an App that does 2 things, provides real time alerts and allows customisation. And not just standard customisation of high and low thresholds, but full ability to adapt to your needs. It’s an absolute great app and in my opinion should receive some sort of funding to help its running

### 4/5 — I like it so far!

*2025-11-10, version 1.2.9*

It seems like a simple and great app that’s also practical for everyday use, I’ve downloaded a bunch of apps already and none seem to work for me so I’m hoping that this one does! It seems to be working really well but it’s having trouble connecting to my Apple Watch.

### 4/5 — Working

*2021-08-29, version 1.2.8*

I had problems getting it to work on my new HR 10 Polar strap. I unplugged battery and reinstalled battery. Now works very well.

**Developer response:** Glad you got the issue sorted out.

Thank you for the review.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-02-09, version 1.2.9*

Easy to use, and very accurate, with excellent record keeping.

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best heart monitoring app on iOS!

*2025-11-11, version 1.2.9*

It’s a great app for heart rate tracking. I love the alarm feature and alerts even work when your phone is turned off unlike so many other heart monitor apps on the App Store. Many other apps won’t even allow for alerts. This is definitely a superior app!

### 5/5 — Superb for HIIT training 😍

*2025-07-16, version 1.2.9*

What a find! Perfect live heart tracking, intuitive app and really easy to use with my Garmin HRM-Pro heart tracker, which does not support live tracking (go figure). Highly recommend Heart Buddy 🥰

### 5/5 — Very good free app

*2025-04-06, version 1.2.9*

I have a Nautilus exercise bike that came with a chest strap. When this broke I couldn’t find a replacement so got a Garmin one but it wouldn’t connect to the bike but is fine with this app. Large numerical display was exactly what I wanted and more accurate than the bike’s stuff.

### 5/5 — Good

*2025-01-12, version 1.2.9*

Good app, I wish it would stop alerting me that the notifications have been turned off , I don’t want them on.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-12-11, version 1.2.9*

Simple to use. Set custom heart zone alarms. Exactly what I needed.

### 5/5 — So Grateful to have this wonderful free app

*2024-07-05, version 1.2.9*

This app is so helpful, so clear, so intuitive, and so elegantly designed. In just using it for two days I have already learned valuable things about what makes my heart rate fluctuate and have some ideas how to keep it calmer. I’m amazed and grateful for the talent, skill, and insight of the designer and of his generosity in making it available free to all. I think it will help so many people who aren’t located where they can easily access specialized medicine, can’t afford it, or don’t have time to locate it and get to it often. This app provides immediate information on how your heart is behaving so you can see what’s going on better and what seems to help and what doesn’t.
I looked for a link to provide a tip and there wasn’t one. If the developer is ever again in a position to maintain the app, I’m sure many users would be happy to donate towards its upkeep in appreciation for how it has helped them! I would!

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2024-04-02, version 1.2.9*

Thank you for this amazing free app. It has been just what I was searching for. I have chronic fatigue and POTS, this has been perfect for pacing.

### 5/5 — Works with ifit smartbeat strap

*2024-03-06, version 1.2.9*

Just downloaded it and seems to work well! So nice to have an app that doesn’t charge a monthly subscription. Thank you 😊

### 5/5 — NerdStaFarian

*2023-10-06, version 1.2.9*

This is a great app! It’s intuitive, easy to use and accurate. Thanks!
