### 2/5 — Scam

*2026-06-17, version 1.87.0*

It seems odd that you pay a lot for the calendar that then wants you to subscribe to use its features. Seems like the price point of the calendar should come down significantly if they want to charge you monthly/annually just to use it. We have used basic features on ours because I refuse to get into another scam.

### 3/5 — Helpful family calendar

*2026-05-17, version 1.80.0*

This app is overall helpful in keeping our family organized and we like our huge hearth calendar screen it pairs with. However it is not the greatest. App. It is a little clunky and not the easiest to use. I also wish it offered widgets to display the calendar or to do list on the iPhone or iPad.

### 3/5 — Needs more functionality

*2026-03-05*

The app works, but lacks a lot of the functionality you see in other calendar apps. For example, being able to set multiple alerts for the same event. The “Add Location” option is also missing a lot of locations. I can add a specific address by typing it out manually, but searching for a business directly by name is surprisingly lacking.

What would make this app most useful for me is the addition of a widget. I mostly use widgets on my phone for my most commonly used apps. I can see the calendar information in the Apple calendar app, but there is no easy way to open up an event directly to edit it in the Hearth app.

### 3/5 — App leaves desires

*2026-02-04, version 1.71.0*

Features like widgets, smart voice event creation, Alex skill enablement and google home compatibility are some features I would love to see incorporated in such a paid application. Hearth Companion App needs a search function for added events, tasks and appointments to be able to search through current and future months.

### 4/5 — Needs a Widget!

*2025-11-04, version 1.50.0*

I do love our Hearth. Something that can improve the app—please provide a widget that gives you a weekly view. That would be SO helpful instead of having to open up the app every time. With a widget my week can just sit out, for me to see every time I open my phone.

### 2/5 — I can’t delete a profile?

*2025-11-03, version 1.49.0*

Deleting a profile should be so easy but the fact I need to contact support to delete a profile is burdensome.

### 4/5 — A Game-Changer for Family Organization

*2025-08-29, version 1.40.0*

Hearth has made coordinating our family’s moving pieces so much easier. I love the clean layout, color-coding, and quick reminders—everyone knows where they need to be and when. Adding events is simple, and the shared view keeps us aligned without a dozen texts. It’s genuinely reduced our stress and helped us protect time for what matters.

### 4/5 — My kids love it!

*2025-08-22, version 1.39.0*

My kids love this display and it helps motivate them to do tasks and gives them a helpful visual of their activities. Some of the interfaces are a little cumbersome still but confident those will be worked out in time.

### 4/5 — Excellent Family Calendar!

*2025-08-18, version 1.38.0*

Love the Hearth calendar, switched from Skylight about 6 months ago and have no regrets! My kids (14, 12, 10, 9–all boys) love being able to easily see what chores and routines need to be done, and check them off to earn privileges. Everything is super customizable to individual preferences. The only downside so far is that I can’t seem to add an event for more than one person (i.e. the entire family) on everyone’s calendar view from Google calendar, as it syncs individual calendar.

### 4/5 — Love it but needs some improvement

*2025-08-17*

We love our hearth, the entire family uses it multiple times a day on a daily basis.

Here’s what I love and what i wish would improve (I’ve actually shared this feedback with their team but none of this has been implemented thus far):
- Meal planning is super helpful, but I wish there was a way to have an archive of your go-to meals and their corresponding recipes that you can look through and choose from when planning your meals. A notes section would help too for when you try a new recipe but want to jot down some notes about it, or if you tried it already and want to note what you’d do differently next time perhaps.
- Routines are the main thing my kids use, they’ve been great and are removing some of my mental load. However, I really dislike that you can see all the various routines of the day even if they’re not “active”. For example, the bedtime routine should only SHOW UP at bedtime. Otherwise it feels overwhelming at times for my children too see a bunch of routines all at the same time.
Additionally, I’d love to be able to put an end time to routines so that there’s urgency to get it done by a certain time. So if I have a morning routine, for instance, I don’t want my kid to be doing it at 4 pm.
- I love that I can display a picture of my family while the hearth isn’t in use. But would love it even more if it had a slideshow option so I can see more than just one picture.

Overall, I truly do love my hearth and its corresponding app. But there are just minor tweaks that they can do that would make me that much more satisfied with it.

### 4/5 — Mostly love

*2025-08-15, version 1.38.0*

Love having this app and my kids LOVE having the lists they can check off. You can sync multiple calendars, but the down side for me is that you can’t edit any of the events you sync from different calendars. You can’t change the color or make it specific for different people. Also really needs a search function. I would love to set the default view to “monthly” on the app rather than the daily. Hoping they continue with making amazing updates and listening to their customers! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

### 5/5 — We LOVE our Hearth!

*2025-08-14, version 1.38.0*

If anyone is looking to get your family organized GET A HEARTH! I waited on the list for so long to get ours and it was absolutely worth it. Looking forward to using more features with the coming school year!

### 5/5 — Hearth Review

*2025-08-14, version 1.38.0*

Amazing!! We have 6 kids and I wasn’t sure if it would help for the week or 2 weeks. It’s been 3 months and we have never had the kids willing to do as many chores as we do now!! We LOVE hearth!

### 5/5 — Awesome family calendar!

*2025-08-14, version 1.38.0*

Love the app, makes it easy to add events like a school schedule! Definitely recommend this to everyone!

### 5/5 — App

*2025-08-14, version 1.38.0*

Love the new app! And the ai assist.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — >:( 👎🏽

*2026-06-24, version 1.88.0*

It doesn’t even let me sign in!

### 1/5 — Overly expensive

*2025-08-25, version 1.39.0*

We have owned the hearth for a year now, and truly have enjoyed it. Our subscription is up in September so we decided to cancel it since it’s 84$ a year. In this economy we just don’t have that. Because of canceling we cannot do any of the basic stuff. Like the to dos.
For the price of it and the lack of “perks” I can honestly say I regret buying this. Such a waste of money and scam.

### 1/5 — Customizable Homescreen Widget Please!

*2025-08-22, version 1.39.0*

Would love a widget option for a quick overview of the day without needing to open the app!

### 1/5 — Expensive calendar display

*2025-08-19, version 1.38.0*

I had such high hopes for this item. And like many others it’s the most expensive frame that’s just hung on our wall. It hasn’t been used in almost a year. Without the premium subscription the only thing it does is display a calendar. It’s supposed to make family function easier but only if you pay to create lists? All the premium features are just basic features you would think is part of the product.
And now with it only being mobile. It’s even more of an inconvenience. I have to control everything from a small screen.

### 1/5 — How have you not caught up to what other apps like this are doing in 2025?

*2025-08-15*

I find myself consistently infuriated and disappointed in this app. Both the interface itself on my big screen — what my husband calls “the most expensive picture frame of all time,” (I’ve finally gotten to a place of agreement here) — and the “companion app.”) The interfaces do not speak to each other. The online pictures are beautiful. The ads are beautiful, the blog posts are beautiful. My god, the sheer amount of time I have spent on trying to figure it out and fix things (I work with data for my job): it would’ve so much been better spent on writing things down with a pen and paper. By the competitor thing immediately. This is a waste of $700. I’ve had it for almost 2 years. This is a sunk cost. I wish I’d waited a year and bought a better one.

### 1/5 — App glitches and not user-friendly

*2025-05-24*

Not user friendly. Takes so long to input data because you have to scroll through entire months to get to the date you need. You can’t just type in the numeric date. The display for the monthly calendar is too tiny to read, the weekly display is awful and can’t see everything if you have a busy schedule. The agenda view is dumb because it’s confusing that the time of the event is underneath the event so you get confused what time the event actually is. There’s no desktop way to edit the schedule. Which, is solely how I used the calendar. I already contacted support and they don’t care to improve the app. Glitches all the time. If I knew the app would be this bad and non-user friendly, I honestly would not have purchased the board.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-05-16*

I’ve never written a review on the App Store before.
I feel dumb for assuming the premium price of this calendar meant decent hardware, software and functionality. At least I’m only out $600, versus the millions the private equity firm that buys Hearth will be out, when they realize they bought a group of disappointed clients wishing they would’ve waited for one of the big players to come out with a significantly better product at a lower cost.
Truth is, the up front cost would be fine if everything was included. Or the subscription would be fine if the up front was 1/3 the cost, but the two together is INSANE. Im embarrassed for not doing more research, fair warning.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy it

*2025-03-18, version 1.19.0*

Save your money. It takes too long to add anything. It glitches all of the time. Things go missing from it. I paid for the year subscription in advance which was stupid because I’d have sold this on fb marketplace by now.

The only was this stupid money trap semi works for our family is by having the exact same routines and to dos. Pretty much an expensive chore chart at this point.

The couple times I tried to add calendar events as advertised they didn’t get added.

Save your money.

### 1/5 — Can’t create an account

*2025-01-07, version 1.15.0*

Terrible UI. Stuck in a death loop of unrecognized email and password. Calendar and app are not usable. Very poor onboarding experience for an expensive piece of hardware. Switching to skylight.

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2024-11-20*

This calendar was a great idea. But then after you bought it, they decided to tell you that everything is premium, and you have to pay more money to get those services. For as much as this calendar cost that is totally asinine. On top of that, the app was an afterthought and it runs terrible. you barely get the calendar to come up and then you can’t get to the appointment time. Unless this company gets their head out and starts looking out for their customers, I would steer clear.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Needs a few more features

*2025-11-17, version 1.51.0*

I absolutely love my Hearth Display! A few things I would love to see added as feature: the ability to fill the date with desired color, the ability to add birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries for friends/family, and a default setting for the view (ex. calendar, day, week, agenda). I still love my calendar, but I would love it even more with these added features.

### 5/5 — Vast Unmet Potential!!

*2025-10-28*

I am very underwhelmed by my Hearth Display. It lacks creativity and obvious features any tech product in 2025 should have.
1. It does not make sounds of any kind. No alarms. No reminders. It can’t set times and you can’t talk to it like other “ai helpers.” Very disappointing. The Hearth cannot be a central part of our lifestyle if we must continue using our other tech for these most basic functions.
2. There are almost no display customization options. No dark mode. No way to view widgets of its functions on a Home Screen. The display doesn’t even “know” that it shouldn’t show all the empty space from midnight to 8 am if it’s EMPTY. It shouldn’t make me scroll down to awake hours to see if anything is on the calendar.
3. No add on widgets which could be fun - like a vocab word of the day or an AI powered “daily briefing” which could be verbally given aloud in addition to visually. Even the weather forecast is the most basic unhelpful information ever. You can’t actually use it to check the weather as there is no hourly forecast, humidity, uv index, etc.
4. There is no “toddler mode”
5. No user identification to stop siblings from messing with each other. There is a camera. Let’s get faceID rolled out.
6. While we’re on the camera - let’s get video calling set up!
6. Part of the appeal of a wall display is that it is NOT a smartphone. Unfortunately you will still need to use your smartphone for everything that is actually useful, because those features are not available on the display.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2025-08-22, version 1.39.0*

We love the Hearth especially being a busy family. The kids also love the upgrade for their chores and lists.

### 5/5 — Life saver for busy families

*2025-08-20, version 1.39.0*

We love our Hearth display. Everything is visible to the whole family and we can update directly from our phones. We use it to track schedule, chores, grocery lists and meal plans. Hearth helper automatically adds items to the calendar from images which is fantastic. We have 3 active kids and 2 working parents, so this has been an essential tool for us. I recommend it all the time to people. I also appreciate all the new features that they’re adding.

### 5/5 — Helpful Tool

*2025-08-18, version 1.38.0*

We have had the Hearth Display and the Companion app/subscription for a little over a year. Overall, I’d say that it’s a wonderful tool for helping to manage a busy family of four! In the past year they have consistently rolled out helpful updates and fixed bugs. We love the calendar, routines, and shared lists. The AI helper is great to help import paper invites and calendars quickly. I definitely recommend this to friends and look forward to using the product and app for years to come!

### 5/5 — Great Family Planner

*2025-08-18, version 1.38.0*

Managing 4 kids school and sports schedules is so much easier now! Everyone has their color and can look to see the week ahead. The favorite tab for everyone though is the meal planning tab. No more answering the “what are we having for dinner?” question! The reward system for chores and routines has really helped take the mental load off me as the working parent too.

### 5/5 — Great Tool to Manage a large Family

*2025-08-16, version 1.38.0*

We love our Hearth Display and App!! It makes managing everyone’s busy schedules so much easier. We love that the display is extra large, so it’s easy to see everything happening for the upcoming day, week, and month. The to-do lists keep us on track, and the routines keep us up to date on our chores.

### 5/5 — Great tool for our family

*2025-08-15, version 1.38.0*

We have been using the Hearth Display and this companion app for over 3 months now and are very impressed by all of its features. They continue to come out with updates and it gets better with each one. Our family feels more connected, and organized and we would highly recommend Hearth.

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-08-15, version 1.38.0*

I am so happy I have this calendar. It makes everything so much easier for our family. Everyone knows what they need to do and where they need to be. The kids are liking the rewards function that has been added and I really like the meal planning feature. I wish you could toggle other meals off so they aren’t seen (like breakfast/lunch etc) but that’s just my preference. I find the app easy to use and the integration with Apple calendar is great.

### 5/5 — Great Family Tool

*2025-08-14, version 1.38.0*

We bought our Hearth early this year and it has made a huge difference. Our kids really respond consistently to the routines, lists, and stars. It has even helped support my spouse, who prefers more visual reminders, etc. super pleased!
