## What is Heat Index & Category Computer?

• Featured by Apple App Store in Weather > What’s Hot for the iPad in 108 countries.

Good call using Heat Index Calculator before the day gets away from you. You are already doing the smart thing by checking how the air will actually feel, not just what the temperature says. This app gives you a fast heat index calculator, NOAA weather, nearby weather stations, and practical heat safety context in one clean place.

Heat Index Calculator helps when humidity turns a normal forecast into a rough afternoon. Enter temperature and relative humidity, fetch current weather, compare local station observations, and see risk bands that are easier to act on than a plain weather number.

Use it for:
-> Outdoor work and job site checks
-> Sports practice, games, and training
-> Running, hiking, cycling, and walking
-> Yard work, travel, errands, and summer planning
-> Fast humidity checks before you head outside
-> Comparing NOAA weather with nearby station readings
-> Saving heat checks for later review
-> Keeping useful weather data close without a full weather dashboard

Core features:
-> Heat index calculator for temperature and humidity
-> Fahrenheit and Celsius results on the same screen
-> Slider controls for quick manual checks
-> NOAA weather fetch for your current location
-> Saved places for home, job site, school, field, travel, and custom spots
-> Nearby weather station data from NOAA sources
-> Station comparison by distance, freshness, heat index, and completeness
-> Hourly heat index forecast for rest->of->day planning
-> Today's peak heat risk when forecast humidity is available
-> Clear bands for Military, OSHA, NOAA, and Athletic systems
-> First and last trigger details as conditions get hotter
-> Local records for fetched weather and manual heat checks
-> Heat history with filters and personal reference details
-> Export reports and CSV->style summaries from saved records
-> Offline reference notes and heat band charts
-> Widgets and Apple Watch snapshots from cached app data

Why it is useful:
-> A hot day can feel very different when humidity rises.
-> Heat index gives a better read on perceived temperature.
-> NOAA station data can show what is happening near you.
-> Saved locations make repeat checks faster.
-> Records help you compare recent heat checks.
-> Forecast timelines help you plan around the worst part of the day.
-> The app keeps weather details readable instead of dumping raw data.

Daily checks stay simple:
-> Open the app before work, practice, or a long drive
-> Fetch current conditions when you want local weather
-> Adjust the sliders when you already know the numbers
-> Compare nearby stations when one reading looks off
-> Save the result when you want a local record
-> Check history before repeating the same plan
-> Export a report when you need to share the details
-> Use widgets for a quick glance after the app has fresh data

Heat Index Pro adds expanded planning tools:
-> Unlimited saved locations
-> Advanced forecast timelines
-> Station comparison
-> Heat history
-> Export reports
-> Widgets and Apple Watch snapshots
-> Expanded offline reference
-> Preparedness progress and badges
-> Restore purchases from the Pro screen

Free users keep the manual calculator, current heat index result, basic station details, and core reference charts. Pro tools are for planning and personal reference. Heat Index Calculator is informational and does not replace medical advice, workplace rules, emergency direction, or official local guidance.

For monthly subscriptions:
Monthly Pro is a 1-month auto-renewable subscription.
Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

### 2/5 — Not very good.

*2020-02-11*

Tried using this for HVAC conversion for helping customers to understand what the temp actually feels like. They should put in the advertising that this program can only work with temps above 80. Not good

### 5/5 — Really helpful for spring and summer changes

*2014-09-15*

New graphics make it look nice. Updates fix some issues...

### 5/5 — Army Medic Approved

*2014-07-21*

As a Combat Medic, this was totally worth the dollar I spent. Now when my Training Officer asks what the Heat Cat is, I don't have to even leave my vehicle!!

### 3/5 — Great... I think...

*2012-09-19*

This app really works well but I which it would give me some idea of where it is using as a location for reporting the heat index. I touch "fetch", it gives the heat index, and I'm left wondering if it's for Phoenix or Tampa. I'm a pilot by trade and I may see 5 cities in a day and it'd be nice to have some idea of the location it's using.

Some idea of the time stamp it's using would also be nice. Is the heat index for now or three hours ago?

### 5/5 — Heat index

*2012-08-27*

I was looking for a
Program that would help me determine the actual heat index "Quickly"! Due to some medical conditions I have it is imperative that I know the heat index quickly. This program is Awesome And has helped me immensely. Thank You!
