Cannot recommend this system at all. ### 1/5 — It doesn’t work - needs replacing urgently *2023-12-28, version 4.6* This app is nowhere near fit for purpose. It constantly crashes, rarely connects and often doesn’t save the new programs you have spent a long time inputting. The user interface is abysmal. Sadly this app seems to have been little more than an afterthought, when it is a vital part of a very expensive product. It is the sole method we have for programming our Elkatherm radiators which cost us thousands of pounds (all of our savings). 100% would avoid if at all possible. ### 1/5 — outdated and awful *2023-12-01, version 4.6* The app is very outdated and never receives updates despite numerous reports of crash’s. whilst you are able to adjust the temp on each unit, the app will crash the next time you open it, making the adjustment time longer. is very user unfriendly compared to similar apps and products. Seems they sell you this great idea but in reality it’s pretty rubbish and forgotten about judging by the lack of updates ### 1/5 — Very poor app *2023-10-31, version 4.6* This is a very flaky app. We have had no end of problems with it constantly failing dropping out, then having to reconfigure everything. Latest example: it was working last winter, nothing has changed tech wise, nothing has been touched or fiddled with. Just tried to activate radiators now and it won’t connect saying that the hub is not recognised!! So Fustrating!! DO NOT INVEST IN THIS TECHNOLOGY!!! ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2023-02-10, version 4.6* Bought the system to control remotely for my country property but is very disappointing as communication often breaks down. Doesn’t work when you need it the most. Software needs radical upgrades. PLEASE FIX THIS ### 1/5 — Useless *2022-11-12* Frequently crashes and needs to be re-downloaded which requires reconfiguring the information and sticking a screw driver in the back of the hub. The hub is so delicate I have already had one that broke. And they are not cheap to replace. I have it installed on a phone and an IPad if I use one device the other device app crashes. Absolute piece of rubbish but I’m stuck with as it’s the only App that controls my radiators. I called the engineer out on numerous occasions,(felt like I was being a idiot) they got it going again each time, but the app would soon revert back to not being able to reach the hub. Now after reading the reviews I realise I am not the only one with the same problem. Dreading this winter as I shall have to put the heaters on manually . You think it has set a program but then find it hasn’t applied it to all radiators so you are wasting heat. It’s about the level of a GCSE project, not a commercially available product as part of an expensive heating installation. I wish there was a better app my expensive heating system is useless because of this garbage. ### 1/5 — Waste of my life *2022-03-31, version 4.5* Worst thing i ever did was invest in this system -expensive to run and its almost impossible to know when the app will work or not constantly trying to reconnect/synchronise/download/ delete/repeat - avoid at all cost! ### 1/5 — fine when it works but that isn’t very often *2022-03-21, version 4.5* we’ve been using this system now for a little over 18 months, was set up by the previous occupant (landlord) in our flat for the most part it works well, but it has too many flaws. if the app has been opened once already it must be closed and reopened to be able to use otherwise any function will cause it to close itself recently we’ve been unable to connect to the system unless we’re at home on the same wifi as the setup, rendering it completely useless while we’re out (one of the main benefits of the system as we need to keep the heat regulated for our pets) a lot of the time even while at home on the wifi the app struggles to connect to the system, leaving us totally unable to turn the heaters on if needed and can only switch them off by the wall socket for the heater the app description now boasts that it can be connected to alexa via heatcontrol, i tried this and alexa couldn’t detect it, not surprisingly not sure why the developers refuse to put real effort into making the app run well, when we move i won’t be using this system ### 1/5 — Awful app riddled with problems *2022-03-17, version 4.5* Do not buy radiators dependant on this app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Back but still not working properly *2026-03-12, version 5.0* Managed to connect to new app but now finding the system just randomly changes time. Have to hit the ‘set time’ button frequently. Do not trust Elkatherm or their suppliers (new and old). We paid thousands for a system that’s barely worked as it should in 5 years ### 1/5 — Non-functional app *2026-02-23, version 4.6* We have had this app for 9 years to control heating in a second home. It’s always been ‘fragile’ but hasn’t worked all for the last 9 months. No communication at all from supplier. Every time we called heating supplier kept saying a revamped app would be available soon. Then told in early January it would be available within a week. Still nothing 7 weeks later. We feel we are being constantly misled with the main feature for which we paid £10k being unavailable. We no longer trust the UK Elkatherm supplier/installer. Elkatherm radiators a waste of money with this *2025-01-31, version 4.6* This hub and app are useless and create no end of problems which no one helps sort out. Hub won’t work with an EE modem so can’t control or programme the heating. Elkatherm recommend spending over £100 per radiators to fix the problem by installing their new remote control system, showing that Elkatherm recognise that Heatapp is useless. Seems good, reliable and working smoothly. Even tells me how much I'm spending on electricity for each appliance. ### 4/5 — Great for control from afar *2021-01-20, version 4.1* Have used for 3 years and found the app robust and flexible for managing second home heat even from another country. Heat control recovers flawlessly from power and internet outages, and has even been way for us to assses if internet currently live at the residence. Consumption graphics highly useful BUT the orange bar graphs are now invisible on orange background of version 4.1. ### 3/5 — Can’t use when heathub won’t connect *2021-12-30, version 4.5* I have this on my phone and can’t always connect. Though it was phone connection but can’t get it to work on iPad either as get message can’t teach heat hub. Communication between devices could be more streamlined and efficient. However, I don’t know of any other digital app solution for operating this heating system. Warning: Do your research before purchasing. I didn’t do enough! ### 2/5 — Useless *2022-02-11, version 4.5* My app will not synchronise my system saying app not communicating with heat hub. It communities all the rest of the time setting radiators changing heat settings etc but will not syncronise. This is especially frustrating when you cannot set holiday mode and so your heating is blasting out to an empty house. I have tried using the app on my I pad and have exactly the same problem as with my I phone. Initially the app worked perfectly the problem seems to be with the newest updates ### 2/5 — Regular lost connection Not Wi-Fi fault *2021-12-03, version 4.5* Would be amazing if it worked Weekly problems for sometimes 24 Hours when there is no connection with the hub. I would certainly recommend the radiators but not with Heatapp. I write this sitting at home with no heating and a hot water bottle.
