Most of the other live streaming apps have become super weird and flashy and generally not much fun. For me Heckle is the closest to the community and laid-back vibe that I liked about Periscope back in the day. At the moment it seems like Heckle is still growing so there doesn’t seem to be a huge user base yet, but the base that is there has heart and I’m optimistic about its growth and I like the way it feels. Good job! The developer really refuses to make any updates and if he does it takes him a year to add simple things. On top of that he is sort of a dirty old man sneaking into broadcast looking into broadcast when you don’t know he’s there. He allows sexual content and racism. If you want to find a social media app I would go with something like Twitch this app is a tribal toxic stew. ### 1/5 — Not a good app *2024-08-12, version 1.3.5* This app feels more like a beta. There’s so many problems with it and it appears that the developer does not want to address any of the problems and just let it be. I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way but there’s a lot of sexual harassment that goes unchecked on the app and that falls directly on the shoulders of the developer who doesn’t seem to care. The developer also sneaks into broadcasts unannounced which is kind of creepy. If you're looking for sexual harassment and racism this is the place for you. ### 1/5 — Reviews *2024-08-08* Apple didn’t take the reviews down I did out of the goodness of my heart because unlike some people I analyze the facts and actually try to figure out what is right and wrong and make a decision. it might take a little work to figure out who needs to be really should banned that’s what a conscientious fair person does. A lazy person wants to sweep it under the rug and not know what really happened. Usually when an inventor has a baby they want to take care of it. The best disinfectant is sunlight. ### 1/5 — Concerning behavior *2024-08-01* This app is full of inappropriate behavior and comments and no moderation from the developer. If you have an issue with some of this behavior you are essentially ignored. This is no place for kids and you don’t want to be here as an adult either. The first day you go in you’re essentially blocked by people for no reason and made fun of. Don’t bother even downloading this app go somewhere like Twitch or Kick. Something like periscope would be better or Happs because they don’t exist anymore and so having no app is better than this app. ### 1/5 — heckle *2023-04-12, version 1.2.5* Very poor app, sound quality is below average, interactions are limited to comments. Do not waste your money on Ad free as i did. The app does not feature a proper support portal, instead forcing users to contact them via Twitter. This just comes across as lazy. The app also does not offer the user any way to control their account beyond changing username, password and setting a bio. How does one delete their account? Well, basically you don’t. Want a copy of your personal data? Not gonna happen. Well unless you reach out via Twitter. But really why should a user need to sign up for Twitter just to maintain their account? ### 1/5 — Streams after you have ended your stream *2021-06-22, version 0.504* This is an invasion of our privacy. My husband started a live stream at 4:16pm eastern time and ended shortly after. Our friend texted us at 11pm asking, “has he been live for the last 7 hours?!” NO….he had streamed for a few mins, and ended. App was closed out. When I checked at 11pm, his account WAS LIVE. I was able to enter his stream, other viewers had been in and out. we immediately deleted this app. Had viewers been able to hear our conversations all night? See what we were doing!? This bug needs fixing immediately ### 3/5 — The bubbles need to be arranged *2024-06-03, version 1.3.5* the bubbles section on the bottom of the screen needs to rearranged cause if u keep tapping on your own bubble, you might accidentally tap on someone else's bubble and tap on that person bubble to block that person. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — New features: *2026-04-29, version 1.4.2* love the freedom on heckle compared to tiktok, being able to actually be yourself without worrying about getting banned is huge. a few features that would make this app unbeatable: 1) creator payouts so people going live can actually earn from their content 2) a tip jar system where viewers can send money during lives 3) no shadowbanning ever 4) a split screen collab feature so two creators can go live together 5) better discoverability so new creators arent invisible. ### 5/5 — Fantastic App *2026-04-04, version 1.3.14* Fantastic App for live streaming and has the ability to call in . The video is clear depending on your phone and your connection to the internet. Looking forward to when the creator adds fading comments and possibly even call ins! I love the community, how different everyone is and how welcoming most people can be. All walks of life welcomed and celebrated.
