This is crazy and I am dissatisfied ### 1/5 — Had serious problems with corrupted data files *2026-07-31, version 7.5.5* I was enjoying the app up until Intermediate 1 lesson 27 (might have been 29). Then the audio files started glitching really badly but I could figure out what the sentences were based on context. Then the app stoped downloading new lessons. So I reached out to the company and they told me to save, uninstall and reinstall. I have now lost all my progress, my coins, my badges, my 168 day streak and my desire to keep trying to use this app. Which is unfortunate as I was creating a solid study habit and progressing nicely towards being able to actually speak Chinese. Ironically I picked this app because it didn’t do the same nonsense others were doing. Hate to leave a negative review but the last few updates have really taken things in a disappointing direction. ### 1/5 — Bait and switch *2026-07-19, version 7.5.3* They have a free version, but it’s only two weeks worth of material before they try to upsell you. If they want to put out a demo, they should have written up front that it’s a demo. Submitted feedback in-app - twice - no improvement. Lost progress twice today. They allow you to try out quite a bit of the course for free before feeling like you need to commit to a premium subscription. I ended up liking it enough to get a year premium subscription and looks like I did it at the right time since they keep adding new features and things to the main course.
