It is not the most efficient way by any means but the motivation of talking to real people helps keep you consistent. A lot of people are on the app actually just to make friends, but you still find a handful of people trying to learn. The app does a good job of making people of similar interest easy to find, but it does take patience to find other users who are responsive. If you are hesitant, I would recommend trying for one week. However I have noticed that there is so many paid features which can be very limiting! For example the voice rooms, after 2 hours you must wait until the next day, it’s inconvenient and can becoming annoying! I am a PAYING subscriber and I have paid for their coin currency (and still have half left unused). I have 10 months left on my year plan that I’ve already paid for. All they’ve said is “Other Illegal Activities”. I’ve gone through their guidelines. In my 9 years on the app I have not broken a single one of them. Is this how you treat your paying customers? You take their money, and then ban them with no reason so they can’t even use what they paid for? Not to mention the years of posts and conversations I have on the platform? You just take that away too? How is this not a scam? I’m willing to change this review if my account is unbanned. Because my classes were mostly focussed on reading and writing, I learnt a lot of grammar and vocab but never really got to practice speaking much. So for the most part this app is fantastic! However! I have one issue. People treat it a bit like a dating app which is somewhat entertaining as a young man, but I do feel sorry for women as I often see they have to specify in their bios that they have boyfriends or are not interested. I would feel bad recommending this to a female friend just for her to get hit on when she is trying to learn a language. Is there any way that profiles could be verified? I know that people will always chat to each other and may become interested in one another, but for the safety of everyone I feel it would be beneficial to integrate a profile verification so that everyone knows who they are talking to is actually who that person claims to be. Would that be possible and is it something the team are thinking of integrating? Other than that, it is a genuinely fantastic app! I don't feel that anything important is stuck behind a paywall, notifications work well and it is a brilliant language learning tool!
