## What is Helm?

Helm is built for freelance event crew: the video engineers, audio techs, lighting crew, and stagehands who work show to show. It keeps every job's time, travel, and paperwork in one place, and turns it into an invoice when the show's over.

CLOCK IN ON SITE • Start and stop the clock from the app, a Home Screen widget, the Lock Screen, your Apple Watch, or Siri. • Arrive at the venue and Helm can clock you in on its own, and out when you leave. • Overtime, golden time, day minimums, half days, and short turnarounds are worked out the way your rates say, and a bar shows when overtime starts. • Schedule a start for tomorrow's call time, take breaks, and fix any entry afterwards.

EVERY JOB IN ONE PLACE • The client, the labor coordinator and project manager, the venue, the hotel, and your notes for the room and loading dock. • Flights are found in your calendar and added to the job, with the day's travel and a notification when it's time to leave for the airport. • Projects go on your calendar as held, booked, and invoiced, with a past-due date when an invoice runs late. • Fold away the cards you don't need on site, and see what needs attention across all your jobs: flights to book, invoices to send, and payments overdue.

PER DIEM, MILEAGE, AND RECEIPTS • The government's meals rate for the venue's city is looked up for you, with travel days at 75%. • Drives to and from the airport are added as mileage at the IRS rate. • Scan a receipt and Helm reads the vendor, date, and total. Bill it to the client or keep it as a business expense.

INVOICE, THEN RELAX • Create the invoice in a tap: labor, per diem, and billable expenses, as a PDF with the receipts attached, ready to email. • See when it's due, send a reminder, and add a late fee to an overdue invoice. • When it's paid, scan the check, and its date and number are filled in for you. • Profit and loss for every job, and estimates before you take one.

TAX TIME • Income by client to check your 1099s, expenses by category, per diem received, and mileage, as spreadsheets for you or your accountant. • Year-to-date revenue, expenses, and profit, by month, quarter, and client. • Reminders for quarterly estimated taxes.

ON EVERY DEVICE • iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, kept in sync with iCloud. Your data stays in your own iCloud account. • Watch complications and Live Activities show what's on the clock at a glance.

HELM PRO Helm Pro unlocks every feature. It's an auto-renewable subscription with two plans, each starting with a free two-week trial: Helm Pro Monthly, $19.99 a month, or Helm Pro Annual, $199.99 a year (U.S. prices; other regions are shown in the app). When the trial ends, payment is charged to your Apple Account, and the subscription renews automatically unless it's cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Without Helm Pro, everything you've entered stays in the app to look at, read-only.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-27

Business, at a glance. The Business tab now answers four questions first: how your year compares with last year, what you're owed and what's overdue, how many days you're booked over the next three months, and what to set aside for taxes (or, for an S-Corp, whether the business is covering payroll).

• Earned, booked, and unconfirmed work shown separately, with outstanding invoices on the chart
• Count income by work date or by payment
• All time sits with the years
• S-Corp support: a Payroll category and monthly business expenses added for you
• Helm Pro can be recorded as a business expense
• Hotel room numbers on each project
• Search behind a button on Projects and Clients
• People save as you type; matching Call, Text, and Email buttons everywhere
• Clearer wording and layout throughout

### 1.1 — 2026-10-18

• Business on iPad has a sidebar: Overview, Inbox, Business Expenses by month, Mileage, and Tax Reports
• New Mileage page: every trip for the year, with total miles and their value at the mileage rate
• Optional status tags on project folders in Files: Current, Confirmed, Unconfirmed, Invoiced
• Redeem an offer code in Settings > Helm Pro
• Mileage trips show their route on a map
• Billed mileage now counts as income in a project's Profit & Loss
• Clearer Add menu, and a tidier Current card on iPad
• Fixes for the Watch complication, the Dynamic Island, and receipt file names
