The change to provide a text version if you touch the screen however is very annoying. Even the slightest touch of the screen sends it back from paper style to text style, then you have to tap the arrow at top to go back. Please put a setting that turns this feature that you added on or off so that I can read uninterrupted. ### 3/5 — Comments *2026-06-02, version 9.13.4* I have noticed in the last few weeks that the comments are repeated / duplicated. Must be a bug in the app. Also it is annoying that the headline is repeated in the first paragraph of a story ### 2/5 — What annoys me *2026-05-29* When I go to the home section to look what the main stories are I find that mostly the headline stories and the majority of the other stories are all about sports. This can happen at times every few seconds which is very frustrating when you are trying to read through the stories below. Is it the advertisements? Getting close to cancelling my subscription, has been happening for months. Well the black screen is a major bug that you DIDN’T fix. Such a shame that a once highly regarded newspaper could let it’s readers down. I worked at The Herald & Weekly Times 40yr ago, when news was quality. When staff were shown respect and looked after. When you valued your readers. This online rubbish is just that…rubbish. ### 2/5 — Terrible APP *2026-05-04, version 9.13.4* Very glitchy, constantly reloads when going from one story to another so have to scroll from the top constantly ### 1/5 — Outdated content *2026-04-26, version 9.13.3* The app is basic but most annoyingly contains so many outdated stories on the front end that it is annoying any over a month old. ### 1/5 — Not good *2026-04-22, version 9.13.2* Agree with Disco 34 review, plus right now when scrolling articles I get a pop up saying “Discover our new recipes” that will not close ### 1/5 — Please fix *2026-04-16* Current version is fine for reading the headlines and checking up on the events of the day. There are a few bugs and issues however. The most annoying one of all is the “scrolling” the images and text seem to lag really badly making the experience difficult on the eyes and takes longer to scroll through the content. The other is the random “ad” placements which depending on which one loads or appears can work fine OR ends up extending beyond the field it is in and covering up the content either side - understand a need for ads but when it overlaps on the content it does make the app really difficult to use as it ends up launching the links embedded inside the ad rather than scrolling or loading the news content. This wouldn’t be so bad if it happened occasionally but now it’s happening every couple of articles. I open the app every morning and cannot understand why Top stories does not have a sunset date. On Wednesday still seeing stories from Sunday. Suggest a latest news tab to see what is breaking. Surely one shouldn’t have to open today’s paper to get the latest. ### 1/5 — Poor App Upgrade *2026-08-18, version 9.13.0* Congrats on losing a customer! Your latest upgrade excludes my IPad usage. Rather than buy a new iPad, I’ll cancel subscription. 🤬 ### 1/5 — Very poor effort. *2026-08-09* Who ever dreamt this up ought to be fired. Almost impossible to find today’s news. Is someone planning on trying to match it with the World News. Who cares about items that are 2 months old. We are in Victoria Australia in the middle of a pandemic and you fools make it near on impossible to find an up date. READ THESE COMMENTS AND FIX IT. LIKE PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS. Just a money making grab. No consideration for long term older customers. Who have no need for the new fangled features and I find it insulting to be continually reminded that I am of no real value to an organisation that I have dutyly supported for over 60 years. That is right and now confined to the scrap heap. I will certainly advise all my associates of the shocking treatment I now get. Disgusted. ### 1/5 — Nothing works but the ads *2026-06-01* My wife and I have had the digital Herald Sun since it started when it was $5 a month which was great. Now the cost is $32 and the spellcheck and grammar have gone out the window, the comments only work about 5% of the time on the iPad, ads started appearing in between the paragraphs, now if you want to watch a video, you have to watch an annoying ad. I’m sick of stories that at times become daily about Megan & Harry as well as people I’ve never heard of. Very frustrating ### 5/5 — Extremely Impressed! *2012-06-27, version 2.0* This update is an impressive step up in line with other highly rated magazine type layouts. (Flipboard, Currents & Zite). You only need to download and read what interests you and a 7pm edition wraps up the day nicely. What I really like is the ability to also read the paper in its standard format. The zoom in and read works well. Highly recommend. ### 4/5 — Still Room for improvement *2026-08-28* Been using for several years now and has improved over time. There is a bug where once you’ve bookmarked an article, if it can’t be found you can’t see anything else you’ve bookmarked. Its most frustrating and requires deletion of the app and reinstall to reinstate, but the the same thing can (and will) happen again. ### 4/5 — Content *2026-02-16, version 9.12.1* TDS seems entrenched in breaking news. Every day there are anti Trump articles alleging a fresh Trump failing. Today (16/02/26) “ breaking news” is Constant Chaos - Trump administration imploding. What annoys me is there is never an opportunity to comment which I believe is weak. The articles are nearly always proven to be wrong. I would expect this bias from the Australian ABC or other far left outfit. ### 4/5 — Text view of paper version *2024-10-26* How much longer are we going to put up with the screen changing to the copyable version of the text, merely by clicking on the screen? Why is this version not got to via a button at the top of the screen? Tired of having to put up with this around a dozen times each day. Daily Telegraph gets a definite article (as it should) — why can’t we?
