## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Simply didn’t work

*2019-05-12, version 3.2*

Could not get it to unload even while in the Hermitage

### 1/5 — Please Fix This App

*2017-08-21, version 3.1*

I loved this app until a recent update ruined it. When viewing a painting, the back arrow is too high up on the screen, and is in the very top line and visible underneath other text and cannot be tapped. The only way to get out is to shut down the app.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2015-11-07, version 2.92*

The app kept crashing and was utterly useless as I was trying to navigate the museum. I was utterly lost!

### 1/5 — Don't like this app at all

*2013-04-17, version 2.56*

You can see some key paintings and sculptures in this app, but you have to pay 3 to 5$ for others. The quality is not SO GOOD. Don't like this app at all

### 2/5 — Buyer Beware...

*2018-01-16, version 3.2*

This bare-bones app is indeed buggy, as other reviewers noted, the inventory of pictures is very limited in number, and these are unfortunately in standard (non-hd) resolution. Plus, the in-app purchase function, imo, is a waste of money. For example, as evidenced by the Peacock Clock iap (just a brief video of less than four minutes), is similar to the better clips that can be viewed for free on Y**T*** . Finally, if you read all of the reviews, you may agree that many seem to be fake, lacking any details that might explain why it's *supposedly* such a fantastically wonderful app.

### 2/5 — Can't restore purchases under iOS8

*2014-11-04, version 2.91*

As a 2-time visitor to St. Petersburg and the Hermitage, I've loved this app as a way to revisit the mind-boggling, massive display of art, sculpture and history that this museum contains.

Then my employer issued me a new iPad with iOS8. Downloaded the app several times and tried to restore my previous purchases. No dice. Wrote to the the app developers - nothing.

Very disappointing.

### 4/5 — Cool but needs updating

*2018-10-04, version 3.2*

This is a fabulous app for those who want to see the Hermitage but will probably not have opportunity. My issue is the lack of updating. Error messages come up when trying to reach the store or restore purchases. Other than that it's lots of fun!

### 4/5 — Bugs

*2017-03-31, version 3.1*

Using this app on an IPAD. When selecting "i" in collections, the foto does not want to orient correctly and then I cannot return to the original page.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2015-08-21, version 2.92*

Very informative. Helpful and easy to use design.

### 5/5 — Top Quality App

*2013-03-30, version 2.56*

This app is unbelievably good. I am using the iPad version to plan my trip and I will use the iPhone version when I visit the museum. The quality of the art shown is first rate. Most art is accompanied by a narrative. You can do 360 rotation in each room.

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Hermitage

*2013-01-03, version 2.50*

Fantastic!

### 5/5 — Fabulous and useful app!

*2012-07-18, version 1.10*

I was visiting the Hermitage last week when I saw a sign for this app by the museum shop. They even had free wifi in the shop to download it (slow but worth the wait). It was SO much better than the guidebook I had bought. Everything linked and logical. I didn't buy the $1 Da Vinci and $2 whole museum (100 rooms) virtual tour extensions while I was there. The downloads were too big, and I had the real rooms available. But I downloaded them at home to revisit the museum and share with my wife (this was a few days of sightseeing added to a business trip). It is not made for iPad, but the virtual tour images look great on the bigger screen. Well worth the $2 especially for the 100 room tour (the da Vinci is nice too, a more detailed visit to that lovely room with two da Vinci originals and other period works).

If you have a chance, visit the Hermitage. Possibly the best museum in the world (except for Air & Space in DC, but I'm a space freak). And get this app before you go. It will save you a lot of time and confusion navigating the hundreds of rooms. I wish every museum had a guide app this good. After I got this, I checked apps for some other museums, and none are as good.
