### 5/5 — Amazing

*2016-11-23, version 1.3.0*

I played the whole series and it's amazing ! You won't regret it. It is my favorite trilogy alive

### 5/5 — Amazing Game

*2016-10-26, version 1.3.0*

This game is the first part in a trilogy. The characters charm you and the story captivates you. I played the entire series in two days because I couldn't set it down. It made me laugh and cry, it made my heart swell at points. I really recommend this game.

### 5/5 — Everything you want

*2016-09-30, version 1.3.0*

All you want from a superhero game and you are in charge.

The serie is awesome and you really feel like you have accomplished something.

### 4/5 — Great Storyline, Trouble Keeling Track of Characters

*2016-09-03, version 1.3.0*

Would have given this a 5, but I found all the characters too hard to keep track of.
Perhaps in the future, you could make a little bookmark that had every character with a short description about them. I keep getting lost with all the different characters.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2016-08-14, version 1.3.0*

I don't write reviews so let me just say I love this game I've played threw it multiple times now and love how it's ended each time! Can't wait to start the second book/game!!

### 5/5 — Definately worth it!

*2016-07-31, version 1.3.0*

I rarely leave a review for a game but I simply enjoyed playing this through multiple times and I keep coming back. I just love the way this game brings out emotions in the reader and a genuine connection to the characters. The author does an amazing job with this trilogy and I highly recommend everyone to give this amazing app a chance!

### 5/5 — Ari gabay

*2016-05-08, version 1.3.0*

Plz make more I'm din

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-03-22, version 1.3.0*

An excellent read. Enjoyable choices and interesting story.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2016-03-17, version 1.3.0*

Very well written, hugely enjoyable and very gripping.

I've read all three of this trilogy and it's truly brilliant stuff.

Can't wait for more.

### 4/5 — Needs More Options

*2016-03-09, version 1.3.0*

1. There needs to be a way you can politely refuse Black Magic's advances without blackballing him/her.

2. It's annoying at how many scenarios play out the exact same way, regardless of the choices you made. This happens all too often in this game.

3. There is no satisfying way to be a real vigilante either. Or slightly villainous. You just get stuck in the goody two-shoes underdog slot, REGARDLESS OF CHOICE.

4. But overall it is a good game. Has decent replay value. Recommended if you're loaded and ridiculously bored: be warned, once you buy this game you will not be able to resist buying the trilogy.

### 5/5 — A worthwhile superhero story

*2016-02-25*

Great twists and replayability wait within. The Heros series continue for three books each combining seamlessly into the next and developing deep and disturbing characters.

A great take on the superhero genre that feels very human and is just fun to read!

### 5/5 — Special Request

*2016-01-17*

Hey my name is Joey I'm a big fan of all the choice of games books..... I have read almost all and loved everyone of the.... I was wondering could y'all make a Bleach type of spin off choice of games story...... I think it would be very kool to read and basically have the control of your very own soul reaper and zanpukto with amazing abilities even having like a grade system in which you go to the academy first and unlock your zanpuktos name..... I feel like y'all have the resources to do it like y'all did choice of ninjas which kinda had a naruto feel to it lol please consider this story line I'm sure many people would love and buy this type of book...!!!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2016-01-05, version 1.3.0*

Without question one of the best games I have played

### 5/5 — These Choice of the types- can't stop playin

*2015-12-16, version 1.3.0*

I recently downloaded a bunch of choice of the type of games, and so far amongst the few I like, this one was a hit. I got so deep into my character since it was a decent sized story, that when it was over, I kind of had that now what attitude, and its the kind of story that I'll be thinking of for a while, wondering what I could have done better etc. Worth a play, couldn't put it down, finished it within a day.

### 5/5 — awsome story

*2015-11-30, version 1.3.0*

really immersive

### 5/5 — The twists!!

*2015-10-27, version 1.3.0*

The setting is immersive and the minor characters have personalities that actually shine! And each chapter has something to add and there's something to keep you surprised each time!
The love interest is a clear insert for whatever you want it to be but still manages to keep me interested with interacting with it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — REFUND

*2016-11-05, version 1.3.0*

Bought the 3 pack and enjoyed the first one, but it wouldn't transfer the save over to the second game after I made sure it was saved. Then I'm like screw it I'll just play the second one, then I leave the app for like 10 minutes to find it just deleted everything again. You can't even redo choices you made in the previous games, it auto chooses for you. Not happy at all

### 1/5 — Just Disappointing

*2016-03-02, version 1.3.0*

Listen, the story is good and if you want a story that doesn't change regardless of what you do then fine. But I've come to expect a lot from this company and was disappointed. The story is set, nothing ever changes and you always win. It's annoying, do better next time.

### 1/5 — "Choose your own adventure" ya right.

*2015-08-05, version 1.3.0*

Your story has a pretty set course, and don't think that deciding wether your hero cares more about the fame or the justice is enough of a choice. Any choice you pick you win and no choice causes much change. Also, what if I want to be a darker hero? what the tragedy made them fear fame and attention? what they wanted revenge? What if I wanted to be a villain?

### 1/5 — This Choice Of Game is Horrible

*2012-08-18, version 1.0.0*

For a game that claims to be as interactive as other Choice Of games, this is one of the most linear games I've played. Everything always plays out the same, no matter what choices you make. You have to get a sidekick, be attracted to the games love intrest, and participate in every mission. It always ends in tragedy, the plot is mediocre and it promises but doesn't deliver. I would reccomend getting the dragon one instead.

### 2/5 — Rather juvenile focus on sexuality

*2015-01-24, version 1.2.1*

A lot of people clearly love this game, and I bought the trilogy after playing the terrific Choice of Robots game. I expected writing of the same level but was quite disappointed that I had dropped the $$s on the whole collection. This story is very focused on sexuality in a very juvenile fashion. The intelligent writing of Choice of Robots is completely missing.

### 2/5 — Not a pure choice game

*2012-10-02*

I'm giving this such a low rating because throughout the game, particularly later in the story, it felt that my choices actually were insignificant and did not dramatically affect the course of events. I "experimented" by more or less randomly selecting options and when I chose the stupider seeming battle plans, some miracle awaited me and the story proceeded along a trajectory that felt predetermined by the author/

At several instances, options were greyed out, and I didn't understand how I had achieved such a low faction or skill score to not have that option.

Overall, the flexibility and interactivity of the storyline was lacking and this game seemed to be more of a vehicle for the author to tell a story (it was a very interesting story, from a science fiction point of view) than a "choice of" game.

I do want to contrast this with other Choice of Games products I've purchased because I know Heroes Rise is unique in that it is not written by their core authors. I do not recommend this game, but those by the core Choice of Games authors, like Broadsides or Romance (and slightly lesser, Zombies) are worth the money and more faithful to the "choice game" experience. I look forward to trying Star Captain and any other games the core choice authors produce.

### 3/5 — Not Choice Of’s best

*2019-03-25*

Whereas Choice of Robots, Choice of Magics, Tin Star, and Choice of Rebels offer nuanced, well-flushed-out, fascinating adventures, Heroes Rise is comparatively juvenile and silly. The Superlatives offers a vastly superior superhero text adventure.

### 3/5 — Fun, but not sure if it's worth the pay.

*2013-07-13, version 1.1.1*

It is a fun game because you get to chose as you read though personally I found it that there aren't much characters to interact with and Kinda short too, especially when it costs me 2.99.
I know that there will be next chap for this first one continuing, but if it going to be like this for the second one I will have to say that it would not have been worth my money.... Not to mention I preaty much guessed most of the plot out as I played. I dont know ifs it because im a fan of marvel, but the only thing I was looking forward to was "what if I chose this? What would it be like or the like." not "if I chose this how will the story will be." .....hard to explain...

### 3/5 — Amazing game first time through

*2012-08-13, version 1.0.0*

I used to read adventure books when I was a kid where you could choose at the end of each page an option and then jump to another page. It's like this but on speed.

First time through its awesome but replay value is low as no matter which decisions you make the plot line is fixed so you end up playing the same game from an only slightly different angle. It would have been nice if a proper decision tree was built so each decision branches off in a totally different angle resulting in hundreds of possible games and outcomes but I guess this is too much to ask for.

### 4/5 — Fun story, just wish their was an option to become a villain later on.

*2017-05-16, version 1.3.0*

Needs more choices at times, but it was a fun ride.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — SO FUN

*2021-06-06*

I’ve now played through this twice, once a few years ago and again yesterday. It’s just so gosh darned fun!

### 5/5 — Love this book

*2021-05-17*

I got this book on a whim and I couldn’t stop reading it. I enjoyed every part of the story. If you like solo adventure story’s then get this series of books.

### 5/5 — Best Text-Based Game imo

*2020-03-30*

By far the best text-based game I’ve played. I’ve been playing this game since it first came out it gives me just the right amount of entertainment when I have nothing else to do or just to pass/waste time when I’m busy.

### 5/5 — Wonderful game.

*2019-09-23*

As far as writing and plot goes, this game would be worth the price even without being able to alter the course of the story. With that ability? One of the best, most enjoyable games I have played.

### 5/5 — Great.

*2019-06-05*

Very fun little story. Decided to download after listening to an old episode of the heme design round table. Happy that I did!!

### 5/5 — Great story, glitchy stats..

*2019-01-16*

As far as writing goes, this game is awesome. Thrilling, suspenseful, amazing. The writing is intense and very well conceived. However, a couple things need work. As my hero won the hero of tomorrow award, I noticed one of the options (the question asked how you felt about the award itself) mentioned there was a 100,000$ cash reward that came with receiving the award. Well, I’ve checked and checked my stats, and am still at the same amount I was previously as far as cash goes. I bought the trilogy pack and haven’t really needed the 100k yet, but I’m still wondering.. where’s my money?!

### 5/5 — Fantastic and addictive game.

*2017-09-26, version 1.4.0*

I was hooked on this from the moment I started playing, the many ways you can shape your character make this game very addictive and the story is also fabulous. I found myself playing this game multiple times even before moving onto the second one. I also love the fact that there is the legend guide in order to help you effectively get a perfect score, although I didn’t use this until the second or third play through as I wanted to try and work out for myself how this was done. Very talented writer and I look forward to playing more games in the future.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2017-05-16, version 1.3.0*

Brilliant game. Very well written and hugely addictive, couldn't stop reading till I had finished!

Play how you want to play and be who you want to be.

### 5/5 — Fav

*2017-04-09, version 1.3.0*

One of my favourite games, I absolutely loved this. The universe is so complex and the narrative itself is engaging and exciting.

### 5/5 — Please keep going !

*2017-01-22, version 1.3.0*

This series is awesome . I'v read all 4 books so far and love the Hero rise universe
