The AI is my go to everyday. The stuff on perfectionism, self compassion and vulnerability have been a game changer for me. +1+1+1 only downside is im in my mid 20s and the social part is more people in their 40s and up; i wish more ppl my age were on this app but im grateful for anybody sharing their story regardless of age! its also kinda cool to think i may be ahead of people my age when it comes to self development (yes this is probably a bit insecure tbh lol) ### 5/5 — Heroic is like having a personal cheerleader! *2025-10-14, version 2.6.3* This Heroic help allows me to choose how I want to live and then helps me build on my choices throughout the day. There’s times where I’ll be thinking of a concept and then it will come up in the app in such a perfectly and well thought out way. I love it so much. I’ve integrated it into my morning routine to commit to who I want to be this day, and then a few quotes to spark my mind. Followed by The Happiness Department app for a one minute micro-moment of awesome with Daily Happiness Boosters. Quite the way to anchor my day, every day. ### 5/5 — The single best investment *2025-06-30, version 2.5.13* I joined what was then called Optimize 4+ years ago. As someone who has an insatiable curiosity to answer the question of “what can I DO to improve every moment of my life”, I’ve looked at A LOT of resources before finding Optimize/Heroic and since. There’s nothing else I have found that even holds a candle to the depth and comprehensiveness of what can be found in this app. Plus, the enthusiasm expressed by Brian, Alexandra and Michael is also not reproducible. This is almost necessary when taking one of Heroic’s courses. Also data is supposed to delete when the app is deleted. This does not happen. ### 1/5 — Waist of time *2024-06-21, version 2.1.2* If you need an app or a book to tell you to do better, or a little daily reminder you are weak. You need another man? Some loser in skinny jeans who compares greatness to tiger woods how to be better? This guy waisted 2 hours of my time I would have had with my family to explain his tattoos and sell you this app and his book. You want a book to motivate you, read David goggins, read the death of the west. This guy said his goal is to improve 51% of the world, but can't do that unless you pay for his app or his book. Explain to people without consistent power, water, and basic human rights that downloading this app or reading his book will make them better. This if for losers, not for winners. Be a winner. ### 1/5 — optimize.me was better *2023-03-21* I am sorry to give this app a one star review, but the old app optimize.me was free and had better usability, now it redirects to heroic which is payed and doesn’t provide any notable new content. I am grateful for the past content but don’t find removing the old content from the free app fair. **Developer response:** Jeff! Let's do this!! - Zak | Team Heroic (zak@heroic.us) ### 1/5 — Angry Optimize users *2023-03-12, version 1.10.1* The content in this app used to be called Optimize, and before that Brian Johnson. Longtime subscribers/members will know this. When the Brian Johnson app was out, the content was available for $10p/m. I was subscribed for a long time, ultimately loved the PN, +1’s and 101’s, but cancelled as I was a student and wasn’t using the app. Then the content was migrated onto an app called Optimize, with ALL of the paywalled content available for free. Brian went big on making a big deal out of this, saying it was in accordance with his vision and mission, and flagged that heroic would be a ‘premium’ service for more higher-touch coaching offerings. At some point since, a decision was made to reverse this. All of the content previously free on Optimize is now up behind a paywall on the Heroic app. The original offer/promise to make this content available for free to audiences has been reneged on. Moreover, there was a lack of communication about these changes for active users of the Optimize app. And now you have to pay $50 a month to access that legacy content and new content. ### 2/5 — Good info *2024-08-27, version 2.3.5* Lots of stuff in here. Unfortunately, too much! It’s hard to tell where to start or what to do and in what order. Really needs to be simplified with a clear path. Its a bit too overwhelming and time intensive for me. I suggest you look at Duolingo or Moments for some inspiration on a better UX. ### 2/5 — Issues with app *2024-01-16, version 2.0.9* Really like everything about this app other than it keeps freezing when loading. Had the app for 3 months and still not been able to set my big 3 protocols. It’s a real shame because i love the book also. ### 3/5 — The Cult of Brian *2025-08-23, version 2.5.21* There are some useful aspects of this app - I think the daily target setting and tracking is useful and energizing. The content is meh - okay. I have followed Brian for a long time - and it has been interesting to see the evolution of his ideas from Optimize to Heroic to the Philosophers Notes. I found the Basic Training curriculum to be useful and sparked some new good ideas. My primary critique here is that the content has self-centered undertones of being the cult of Brian… nearly every video, every philosopher’s note, even meditations, are self-referential to Brian… when they would be much more inspirational and powerful without the self-centeredness. I doubt Brian will ever change this… but letting everyone know I find it to be over the top. The cult of Brian, combined with the complication of ancient wisdom now described with silly formulas and jargon (which Brian is happy to say are tattooed over his body) muddles - rather than activates - these timeless human principles. But for a monthly (or discounted annual fee or a crowdfund investment!) Brian can show you the way. ### 3/5 — Leaves a lot to be desired *2023-07-17, version 1.12.11* App is very glitchy on ipad. Not responsive and many components don’t even fit on the screen. Sucks that they disabled the optimize app before making this one work properly. Also, it keeps asking me to activate notifications when I commit to the day which is a little annoying. Not to mention, I can’t customize notification times (seriously, why?). Otherwise, it’s a great resource for knowledge, but until they disabled the optimize app, it more-or-less just a daily checklist app - and there are better ones out there.
