But the incessant adverts after each level and an extortionate price (£4.99 WEEKLY - most apps do that for life!) means that I’m deleting the app! ### 2/5 — The Ads Ruin the Game *2026-06-03, version 1.7.1* I get it…developers need funding. But an ad after EVERY SINGLE ROUND is crazy, and charging $5 a week to go ad free is absolutely ridiculous. Other games of higher quality are $7 to be ad free forever. Some levels are pretty easy but most are a good challenge. I would rate it 5 stars but I noticed a few levels where it seemed one word would be a much better fit for the “link” cell than what the solution suggested. Also randomly this game will open a pop-up window in my internet browser usually to a page claiming my phone’s been hacked, which makes me feel like the game is not secure, so I deleted it ### 2/5 — connections get absurd fairly quickly *2026-04-16, version 1.7.1* At first the game was my new obsessions. Loved it enough to start paying for things, but then about 200 levels in, the connections starting getting a bit absurd, with some “correct” connections being a significant stretch compared to other possible connections, and some categories in the same puzzle being so similar, it was anyone’s guess which category a word was supposed to be connected with. And some didn’t make any sense. e.g. community goes with software?? huh?! i.e. it went from a fun challenging game to an exercise in futility. ### 2/5 — Ads. Seriously? *2026-04-11, version 1.7.1* This game is fun but you want $7.99 a WEEK to get rid of ads, no thanks. I see me not continuing to play this game because of the excessive amount of ads. ### 3/5 — Too Many Ads *2026-04-01, version 1.7.1* I like this game. Puts a fresh spin on word games and is a good difficulty level. My issue is the ads. After 30 levels or so, when you’re lulled into a false sense of peace, there is an ad after every single level. Ugh. I would pay to remove ads, but you can only pay to remove an ad for a week. That’s right, they want $5/week to go ad free! There is no lifetime option. I’m sorry, but no. Good game, but not worth $260 per year. ### 4/5 — Fun but strange vocabulary *2026-04-01, version 1.7.1* The Middle Ages include dragons but not Popes or Cardinals? And other odd choices. ### 2/5 — Non-English Native Developers or just Scummy? *2026-03-25, version 1.7* The clues provided are often so general as to apply to multiple categories with the association of a word to one category being as strong or tenuous as an association with another category. This leads to needing to try a wide variety of combinations to figure out which loose collection of associations is the one the dev’s intend. I can’t tell whether this is due to the devs being bad at crafting associations or doing so intentionally to drive people to spend money for hints. Given the state of app game market, I suspect the latter. But as they say, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. That said, you can pay for no ads— for 7 days. Then you have to pay again and again for every 7 days for continued absence of ads, so maybe just scum ### 4/5 — Like it so far - wish it had dark mode *2026-02-13, version 1.4* The game is different and I like it. There are some levels that will stump you so it’s not a super easy game to get bored of. The topics are also interesting. I just wish there was a dark mode so that I could play it at night to wind down. One time the tiles were green when correct but it never showed up again - maybe something I missed. This isn’t that quality of game. A one time fee like most games may have been worth it. Otherwise I would’ve kept it. It’s a neat concept. ### 3/5 — Great concept, but… *2026-01-20, version 1.4* This should be a fun diversion, but it’s rendered near-unplayable by the advert after every level, and £5 for 7 days ad-free is far too expensive. ### 2/5 — Looks good at first, then fails in every way *2026-01-15, version 1.4* Excessive and lengthy ads shortly after initial gameplay; solutions that don’t stand up to logic or common sense; limited word set — which given that this is a word-based game seems an odd choice. Just a shoddily designed and put together game that makes every excruciating minute on the app a cash grab. Even though it was free to download, I feel vaguely ripped off. Not a typical reaction of mine at all. But I’m deleting it and do regret the time I wasted on it. I’ve made a note of the developer’s name and will be avoiding their games going forward. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Fair *2026-07-10, version 1.7.1* The 5 diamonds is way too low, it’s an ok game when bored. ### 1/5 — Ad removal subscription *2026-05-24, version 1.7.1* Having ad removal as a subscription is diabolical. Immediately deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Sacrificed gameplay integrity for a cheap cash grab *2026-04-25, version 1.7.1* As other reviewers have already pointed out, the “free” version is ad supported, and there is an ad after every single puzzle following a certain level. Your tolerance for that will vary. However what is the most egregious sin is that the puzzles become engineered in such a way as to REQUIRE the use of multiple hints which after using them up require in-game currency, purchased with actual money, to purchase more. Hints can be earned without spending actual money, but they are earned at too slow a rate to bypass the “problem puzzles”, which will need many to be used just to continue. Other reviewers have rightly complained about the similarity and overlap between topics making separating and arranging them impossible, but a more common and insidious tactic is to randomly assign unrelated words to the topics so that the puzzle can only be “solved” via brute force or buying hints. The “solutions” to these puzzles are not just deliberately obtuse or use obscure definitions to justify their connection, they are completely irrelevant to each other. The “solution” can be seen after using a hint, and once you catch on to the underhanded methodology it is infuriating. I started this review thinking I would rate it 2 stars, but recounting this justifiably angers me to realizing it really deserves a 1 for this nonsense. The closer you get to puzzles in the 80s the more common it gets. The Topics might be Safari and Nobility. The “shared” word? Not binoculars or anything that might make sense… it’s Elephants. What? That’s only a single example of this nonsense, it gets worse. Seeing the “solution” after hints have placed the words is maddening: especially when you realize that it’s not just that often there are better fits for the groupings, but that the “acceptable” ones are categorically and empirically wrong. ### 1/5 — Great game but too many ads! *2026-04-07, version 1.7.1* I love the game but the ads after every single completed level made me erase the game completely. ### 1/5 — Just because *2026-03-19, version 1.7* When games keep interrupting gameplay to force a review I will give the lowest review possible due to the harassment for a review. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2026-03-17, version 1.4* Great idea but it doesn’t work. It froze on level 6. It also doesn’t color the flower unless you use a boost. Lame. After it froze the screen started flashing like a strobe light. It hurt my eyes and could be very bad if someone was sensitive to that. Do not recommend.
