The escape version is not a bad concept, but the colors used in this game are absolutely obnoxious. I struggle to make myself stare at it. For a game with basically only two colors, they could at least let you choose what color you want to stare at. I’ve never experienced this kind of eye strain with another game. Also, I’m annoyed that this game claimed it would teach me new words. It’s not like it gives you the definition of a word if you randomly swipe one you don’t know. ### 4/5 — Relaxing and challenging *2024-11-17, version 1.6.2* Simple yet engaging. Learn as you go-my lousy vocab was even worse before i played Hexiled. Here are a few well-meaning ideas: 1) Make the board scalable so it’s easier to see more of it at once. 2) Maybe add a “scramble” feature to consolidate remaining letters for a last gasp effort. 3) Maybe add a few precious Undo options per game? 4) Lose all the definitions and use that “space” for customizing options, tips/tricks, etc. 5) Board can get funky—it freezes sometimes or refuses to recognize valid words. Keep fixing it and improving it, since it has become my very favorite go-to word game. That's Hexiled in a nutshell. The first levels move along swiftly, then you start getting stuck. Don't get tricked into thinking that the first direction you head is the right direction. Be open to change, even if it looks like you're backtracking. I do play this a lot, was looking for a game like Spell Collapse, which is not available anymore. Found this, and like it very much, but i do have a problem with it. Sometimes I can leave the game if I have to, and my game is still waiting for me later when I go back to play it- i just click on ‘resume game’ and there it is as I left it. Other times, i go back to pick up where I left off, and my game is gone, and I have to start over again, which I hate because often I had awesome words with a lot of points! So that is why I am giving it only 4 points. I applaud developers who do it all right like this. So rare nowadays. I found it randomly, so glad I did. The file size is small. It’s good on battery, and everything is very smooth. And I like the different modes giving you different choices how to play. So if all you have time for is a super quick game, you can do that, but if you want something slower and relaxing there’s that too. It’s more challenging than I thought it would be, but it’s doable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this game.
