That's poor design. Otherwise a fun port of the original game. ### 3/5 — nice game, could use some more development *2010-08-13* I was thrilled to find this game for the iPhone because I had it way back when it was a DOS game for the PC. It is a very challenging game, kind of a mix of checkers and Othello. This app could use some more development for the iPhone, though. Response is a little sluggish. (OS 4) The controls need to be better. The control is by touching the cell you want to move into, but the cells are too small on the iPhone, so it is very easy to touch the wrong cell by mistake. It would probably work better on the iPad, just because the screen is bigger. The AI is unrelenting on the medium setting, so there is no room for mistake. There are no "extras" on this app. You can't choose which color you want your piece to be. No option to edit the playfield. They don't have the little bumble bee lightbulb graphic that made the original so cute. The sound is very basic. No sound options, not even on / off. These don't matter to the game play, but really, they could have put a little more detail into it. If you want a challenging game that is a mix of checkers and othello and you have small fingers, you'll like this. ### 4/5 — Good *2010-06-02* Good fun game. Well done! Me and my husband both paid the dollar, downloaded it, tried to play each other and it would NEVER CONNECT. After so much time wasted trying to play each other, I tried to play against the computer and when the game would load or the app wouldn’t crash, the game wouldn’t do anything. You couldn’t move pieces or play. It can turn your pieces into its own at random. ### 2/5 — Bugs in the endgame ruin it. *2012-03-02* I love Hexxagon, and have played it since the first DOS release. This is a somewhat faithful recreation of the original title, though the lack of the Edit Board option is vexing. What truly sinks this game, however, is the bug that surfaces in the endgame on Expert. After almost the entire board has been completed, the computer will begin to move pieces that you have just captured as though they still belonged to it, making it impossible to complete a game. This desperately needs to be fixed. ### 2/5 — Perfect clone, but lags *2009-11-06* This is definitely the old Hexxagon game we love, but the controls lag quite a bit. It takes at least a full second after tapping the screen for anything to happen. I've seen the computer change one of my pieces to one of its in certain situations when there are only 2 open slots. Please fix!! Otherwise 5 stars.
