## What is Hey Reachy?

Hey Reachy is a native client for the Reachy Mini desktop robots — one app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

TRY IT WITHOUT A ROBOT

The Connect screen's third segment starts a session against a simulator the app carries itself. It needs no robot, no network and no account: the robot's own description is drawn and moved by the same kinematics the app sends to real hardware. The joystick moves it and the 3D model follows. The simulator has no camera, no app catalogue and no Wi-Fi setup, because those belong to a machine that does not exist.

A Reachy Mini Wireless on your network is what the whole app is for. A Lite model — or a daemon run in simulation on a computer — connects the same way, minus the routes only the wireless daemon serves.

WHAT IT DOES

• Connect — three ways in: Local (a network sweep, Bonjour, an address you type, and on a Mac the daemon on this very computer), HF (your robots from outside their network, through the Hugging Face relay), and Simulator. Robots are identified by hardware id, so the same robot at a new address is still the same robot.

• Live control — joystick teleop of the 6-DoF head, the antennas and body rotation, with the robot's camera and two-way audio, so you can talk through its speaker. Let the head follow a face, at a strength you pick between a glance and a lock.

• 3D viewer — a RealityKit model built from the robot's own URDF and meshes, mirroring it in real time.

• Moves — browse and play the recorded moves the robot ships with, from the app or by asking Siri for one by name. Record your own takes straight from the phone: drive the robot with the joystick, then play the take back.

• Sounds — a soundboard for the robot's speaker. Add audio files on your device, send them across and play them with a tap.

• Apps — install, update and remove robot apps from Hugging Face Spaces, following each job as it runs. Filter and sort the catalogue and pin the apps you use most. The robot wakes itself before an app starts and parks again when it lets go.

• State — the control loop's frequency, worst interval and error count charted live, beside the robot's own processor, memory, temperature and uptime.

• Files — an SFTP browser for the robot's filesystem.

• Bluetooth setup and recovery — put a brand-new robot onto Wi-Fi over an encrypted Bluetooth channel, or bring back one that fell off the network.

AT HOME ON YOUR DEVICES

Widgets for the Home Screen, the Lock Screen, StandBy and the Mac's Notification Centre. The Mac also keeps the robot in the menu bar: awake or asleep, one button to change it, and the installed apps underneath. Control Center controls for power, for a move or an app you choose yourself, for a sound, and for stopping whatever is running — each one on the Lock Screen and the Action button too. Siri and Shortcuts for waking, sleeping, powering off, launching an app, playing a move, or asking whether the robot is awake and what is running on it — and each of those can name which robot it means, so two Reachys on one desk are told apart. Sixteen animated Reachy stickers for Messages, the Stickers app and FaceTime. Six accent themes, each with a matching app icon and a colour for the 3D robot. English, German, Spanish, French and Russian.

PRIVACY

Nothing is collected. The app talks to your robot on your own network and, if you choose to sign in, to Hugging Face with your own account. There is no server on our side.

A NOTE ON YOUR NETWORK

The robot's daemon provides no authentication and no encryption of its own. Use Hey Reachy on a trusted private network or on the robot's own access point — never through a port forward or a public address.

Hey Reachy is unofficial and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Pollen Robotics. It is an independent client for the robot daemon's documented HTTP and WebSocket API. "Reachy Mini" is a product name of Pollen Robotics, used here solely to describe what this app is compatible with.

Requires iOS 18 or macOS 15.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 0.6.1 — 2026-09-30

YOUR THEME ON THE ROBOT

Pick a theme in Settings → Appearance and the 3D robot takes its colour — body and head, in the live view and in the simulator alike. Graphite keeps the factory white, and the new Paint the 3D robot switch keeps it white under any theme. The robot on your desk stays as it is.

STICKERS

Sixteen Reachy characters land in Messages with the app — an astronaut, a cowboy, a jazzman and thirteen more, each with an animation of its own. They reach the Stickers app, the Messages camera and FaceTime as well, so they are not only for a conversation.

ON YOUR WRIST AND IN THE CAR

The running-app Live Activity now shows in the Apple Watch Smart Stack and on the CarPlay dashboard, with no Watch app to install.

FIXES

• Robots on software 1.11 no longer get a compatibility warning. When a robot is newer than the app was tested with, the warning is translated, names the tested version and sits right under Status.
• The motion sensor reading is more reliable: a robot restart no longer clears it, and a robot without one shows none instead of an error.
• Tapping a notification that an app finished installing or updating opens that app's page; a system update opens Settings.
• A Home Screen quick action tapped while the app was closed now runs once the robot connects, instead of being dropped.
