### 2/5 — About the app.

*2024-12-19*

So when I downloaded the app I thought it was cool at first. But the weird thing about it is that you can swipe right for new friends , but you won’t be able to see who swiped you right back also or in general , unless you pay like 20/30 something dollars every month just to use the app😐. like you literally have to pay just to make friends . Which would be okay for some people but you also have to pay portion by portion weekly. every single week. You have to pay. The last thing for me was that once I’ve swiped over maybe 20 people it said something like “ that’s all there is for right now “ and it shows that you can refresh but I have had the app for about a day now and have been refreshing on and off for the past few hours. Like all day. And yet i still didn’t get to see anybody at all anymore .. which is weird . So i just decided to chose to delete the app overall instead of wasting my time and money on nothing.

### 3/5 — Love the concept but needs more users

*2024-11-26*

The concept of the app is really cool. It has a lot of potential but there needs to be more users on the app. Maybe having influencers on social media promote or more marketing initiatives? It doesn’t make sense to rely on the people using the app to promote since the whole point of the app is to meet and make new friends.

I’m using the free version and I’m able to chat with others who swiped on me (similar to a dating app). I also think it’s cool we can make plans and it’s open to everyone to join

So far I’m having a good experience

### 4/5 — Love the app

*2024-05-26*

One recommendation yall should recycle matches, I’m out of matches literally sometimes I don’t match with people because of small trivial things (differences in location or hobbies, maybe your too self conscious about yourself) or accidental swipes it’s be nice to be able to do do overs or if there were other ways to match, maybe add a local “groups” (interest) page where you list or match people with members we can contact via the app (that way you never actually run out of matches? Or suggest/Notify us of different people we can relate to we may or may not have swiped passed from time to time? There needs to be something extra to connect people or keep people interests. A real page dedicated to finding events instead of in app notifications would be nice too.

### 3/5 — GREAT APP but a little dry idk

*2024-03-14*

I really love this app, it shows the people who are near you, people can type their interests which makes it easy BUT it feels like either there’s too little people on this app or not enough people are active, I’ve been using this app for a day now and I’ve only gotten one match so far…I wouldn’t say it’s exactly the apps fault but I don’t know people just aren’t that active… Also I feel like this app should add a search feature where you can search for someone that has the same badge as you or someone with the same interests as you instead of swiping to make it much more easier!

ALSO HUGE PROBLEM‼️‼️
If you don’t pay, you can’t see your “heys” aka messages so everyone’s just typing in their socials, so like what’s the point of the app if you can’t even make friends without paying…?

### 2/5 — Decent App…BUT VIP is a SCAM!

*2023-10-13*

I’ve used Hey! VINA for years and made some good friends. I’ve recommended this app to my non-user friends who have tried it themselves.

It’s a decent app as a free app. The ratio of matches made to messages sent to conversations actually started to friends actually made is pretty low (1 friend made for every 50 messages sent, with maybe 30 responses and 15 actual convos); it’s definitely a numbers game. The UX could be a bit smoother and more polished, and there could be more quizzes with actual depth, but the app serves its main purpose of connecting new people and making new friends. Unfortunately, it looks like the free version is the best the app is going to be. It’s been made very clear it’s not worth money.

I had been debating trying VIP for months, and I finally decided to bite the bullet and try VINA VIP for a week, the cheapest option ($5.99). They say VIP lets you see all your Heys — I had 84, so it seemed worth the cost. After paying, I got to see 17 of them before the app said I had no more new Heys…but I still had 67 Heys listed on my profile page.

I feel ripped off. If I am paying to see my Heys, then let me see my Heys. This feels scammy. I should have listened to other reviewers. I immediately cancelled my subscription. Very disappointed. Thank GOD I didn’t do the lifetime membership ($100).

### 4/5 — Experience not great

*2023-07-27*

I’m not having a great experience using this app. It runs smoothly, the quizzes are fun, but I have gone through a grand total of 10 profiles and that’s it. I’ve had the app for a week so far. No one uses it in my area. The one person who “liked” my profile apparently I didn’t like back but the only way to see their profile is to pay for VIP. Also only people who have iPhones can use this app so that probably cuts way down on people who might use the app. I’m hopeful but Bumble seems way more popular.
Edit: I finally met someone from the app! I think the problem is that Hey Vina! Really struggles with marketing and advertising. If I’m struggling to make friends then telling my “friends” about the app doesn’t really work. This app may benefit from investing in influencers.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2023-03-15*

Like the setup but useless unless you pay for the upgrade.

### 2/5 — Not a good experience

*2023-03-03*

The app keeps logging me out randomly and now I can’t even see the event I was planning to attend, it’s erased from my profile.

### 4/5 — Women in this app not serious about making friends

*2023-01-31, version 4.0.1*

While a great idea, unfortunately women on this app either have too much social anxiety or they’re not serious at all about making friends. I paid for the 3 month deal of $30 and have yet to make a friend off of this app. A woman would message you, you write back, and then never hear back again. You make plans with a woman to hang out, and they cancel last minute or don’t show up. Many times I would initiate contact on my own and send a woman a thoughtfully written message after reviewing her profile, and I would never get any message back. I would suggest to the creator of the app to look into strategies of encouraging women to ACTUALLY use this app, not to just be on here for validation.

### 4/5 — Met my best friend on this app!

*2023-01-03, version 4.0.1*

Met my BFF on this app nearly 2 years ago, and many other amazing women that either had a positive impact on my life or that have taught me great lessons for life.
Only thing I wouldn’t do is upgrade, because it truly is not needed. Also referrals are a waste of time because they do not honor their end of the bargain. Aside from that, recommend the app and mostly the feature where you can join/create meetups. I feel like the chats are pretty much a waste of time and conversations die out pretty quickly.

### 3/5 — Huge potential

*2022-12-09*

Great idea behind the app, but would like to be able to see people come through again as if you don’t swipe the correct way (as someone who’s never swiped left or right it’s a new concept) so if you swipe wrong they’re gone and you won’t see them again. This is really disappointing as I was swiping first the wrong way and then not realising that they were using area ward names not the city on some, so there was me thinking they weren’t local and the were just down the road - consistency would be helpful.

### 2/5 — Alright but Please Fix Notifications & Add Verification

*2022-10-13, version 4.0.1*

I think this app is alright for meeting new friends but most people just want Instagram followers and then they never talk again. Some people want to just chat which is fine. I’m weary of fake accounts as there’s no way to know if someone is truly who they say they are. Also the notification system is so buggy and has been for so long. There are no badge app notifications and those would be so helpful. No matter how many times I change my notification settings I can’t get them to turn on. Please fix this and maybe add a way to verify yourself for the comfort and safety of everyone.

### 2/5 — Inauthentic

*2022-08-27, version 4.0.1*

The personality quizzes use a lot of #girlboss language and aren’t clear about what you’re choosing. One question was forcing me to choose between “yass queen” and “slay” for affirmations and another assumed all options for travel were these big expensive places. I was misgendered constantly even after it asked me who I was. There’s no option to be okay with friends from any gender, but specifically there’s no option at all to be non-binary looking for other non-binary people. I was connected instantly to a group of 5 but only one person spoke beyond a hello and I wasn’t sure the other people were real. The app has a real millennial, rich girl, sad minimalist aesthetic but no questions or connections that mean anything. I felt like I was at a company party for an abusive #ladypower start-up. This app doesn’t really seem like it breeds the kind of community I’d be comfortable with, but honestly any women meeting up from this don’t seem like they’ll have very genuine connections either. Also, TERF vibes. Why only advertise to women and non-binary people and continue to call the non-binary people ladies? Why emphasize the female empowerment aspect over a woman’s personality? I’m all for my and your rights but at a certain point it feels like something else is going on.

### 2/5 — Reached a dead end within a week

*2022-08-12*

I was hopeful to get some connections and maybe even make some friends in my city or neighbourhood. After using the app for awhile I think it would be almost impossible to do this, first off you’d have to pay to see how’s swiped on you. The free features don’t take you that far and the paid version seems pretty expensive. I wouldn’t want to ‘upgrade’ to it in part cause the free version was such a dead end so quick. I continued to try the free version, here’s what I noticed:

I ran out of new people to swipe on the first day I used the app. Throughout this week I’ve tried it there has been no new people to swipe on. My filters aren’t super narrowly set, ladies within 25 miles of me, within 10 years of my age, open to any backgrounds, etc. The city I live in is also a bigger city, upwards of 1-2 million people. I get not everyone will use this app but still. There’s just not enough users to connect or explore in my experience.

There are definitely still a few men on app despite it being pushed as a female space. A few I’ve come across have pictures of men as the profile picture or talk about sex in their profile aka being horny and looking for hookups. I reported anybody who I came across but I had at least 1 a day to report, so there’s obviously still an issue with this.

Any ‘party chat’ I was put into was never with anybody in my area. Most people in the party chats you’ve already been in that chat with before or they don’t talk. I’m sure some people are down for making friends worldwide but I wanted to make friends I would be able to see. People in my area and city that I could make plans with. Between the party chat worldwide aspect and nobody new to swipe on I reached a dead end.

Overall it was so much work to setup my profile completely just to sit there with nothing to do on the app without having to pay my way to it, which who knows if you could even get there successfully. I didn’t connect with even 1 person who was from my city which is incredible when you have a city so big. Honestly if you genuinely want to make friends don’t do it on this app, I’m just gonna have to give it the old fashioned tries and go to a coffee shop or something.

### 4/5 — Overall a good experience but there’s a few kinks

*2022-08-05, version 4.0.1*

1) i feel like the experience with the app goes down a bit because a lot of the time you match with people who are inactive / haven’t been on in months. I suggest hiding accounts that haven’t been online in a long time so that you’re interacting with people who actually want to be friends and whatnot. I think because of this, it gives a feel that you’re somewhere outdated, it’s like where is everyone 😭

2) I feel like they need to promote this app!! I feel like if more girls knew about this app, they’d give it a chance. If more people saw this app like on Instagram ads and stuff, more people would hop on and thus maybe fixing point 1^

### 1/5 — Can't do anything for free so I paid and same

*2022-07-10*

This app is absolutely misleading. I tried the free version first, so you can swipe through like 5-10 people and that's it. To see who said hi to you, you have to pay. So I did. It says 11 people say hi but it's only 6 and completely irrelevant. Thought that by paying I'd be able to swipe through more people but no, nothing to see besides the 10 people I've seen in the free version. It's a scam meant to take money from people who are just looking to make friends. Stay away at all costs!

### 2/5 — Seems great but really isn’t

*2022-05-11*

The app itself looks pretty cool, but that’s about it. You can swipe left or right on people, and join into a random chat group that never really seems to hold up, or you can pay to actually talk with the people you swipe right on. I’d rather use a free service to talk to people and maybe pay for added features, but chatting is the basis of this app so it makes no sense that you have to pay to speak to people you match with. Deleted it after a few days and use bumble BFF instead.

### 1/5 — USELESS

*2022-05-03*

there’s literally no way to see who you match with or even message anyone at all without paying which defeats the purpose of the app🤣 VERY DISAPPOINTING! And a shame to see yet again another money grab

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — NOT SAFE: Can’t remove matches or block people harassing you.

*2024-08-07*

The app has a feature to block people but it doesn’t work. If you contact support, they ignore you or just tell you to keep signing out and delete the app- they don’t fix the problem. This allows someone to harass you in the app and you don’t consider the safety of women using this app and their right to unmatch. There is also NO option to unmatch a user at all who isn’t engaging in chat to become friends- they are stuck there forever taking up space in your list and you cannot block because it doesn’t work! The support team don’t care about women’s safety.

### 1/5 — Could be more useful if the notifications worked

*2024-07-18*

The biggest issue I have with this app is that it’s very very easy to forget. The notifications for it do not behave similarly to other apps like Facebook, sure you might get a banner message in the notification space but you don’t get a notification sound and it clears the notification as soon as you unlock your phone. This is a problem for people who like me have ADHD and/or need those reminders that we have a message or plan or we assume that the peeps we know on the app don’t care about us. This app also seems to have fallen out of use especially in less populated areas due to these failures in notifications.

Also, they seem to have not kept up to date with the changes over the years, last updated 3 years ago. I can’t even log in anymore because it fails to sync with the updates to login methods. Tried contacting support and no response to my attempts.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-02-10*

I am quite disappointed. I thought this was going to be a good app to make more girl friend within my area. Had the app for three days and have no match’s and no conversation just to find out you have to pay….so do not get this app not worth it

### 1/5 — Wouldn’t recommend

*2023-08-07*

Really expensive, you can’t actually message anyone without paying so completely pointless app, it’s clear most people haven’t paid because pretty much every profile mentions their socials. Bit of a scam tbh much better apps that do the exact same thing that you don’t need to pay for

Also nothing you do saves, it’s really poorly made, I really wanted to give a chance but don’t bother

### 1/5 — Can’t even make an account

*2023-03-09*

I tried signing up but it bugged out during the sign up phase now I’m in a constant loop of it telling my to login because I have an account and then telling me to sign up because I don’t have an account.

### 1/5 — Must pay? No thanks

*2023-03-07*

I’ll stick to Bumble BFF.

### 1/5 — Deleted account

*2023-02-12*

They deleted my account and didn’t even tell me

### 1/5 — Could use a tweak

*2023-02-10*

One of the pictures on the App Store says the app is also for non binary people. Yet, many of the categories of interests have feminine terms, and it assumes pronouns are she/her. It feels like non binary people aren’t being included at all. I like the concept of the app, but it’s not true to what it says in its advertising.

### 1/5 — No email sign up!

*2022-12-23, version 4.0.1*

i truly don’t understand why you need to sign up to see what the app is about. fine… but now i need an apple or facebook sign up? i’m sure they want to verify people but there’s other ways to verify that the developers need to take initiative of not assuming everyone has social media and putting the burden on them. too intrusive and outdated. too bad really wanted to meet some girlfriends. why turn people away? i do not understand the developers doesn’t seem like they really have passion behind their movement. never coming back here back to bumble bff i see some kid saying they need younger people sorry kid but you literally have the easiest time to meet other people , school, clubs, camps etc. & the older people complaining and being ageist is problematic as well. there’s 30+ only clubs in every city. these kinds of apps are always watered down and failing because no one wants to create a functional app

### 1/5 — Feels like making you purchase membership and collecting data is this apps goal

*2022-08-06, version 4.0.1*

Downloaded this app because I’m a stay at home, work from home mom who lives in a rural place looking for some friends. Within 35 miles of me there were about 7 “matches.” I am in my mid-40s and none of these women were out of their 20s. I do have friends in their late 20s and early 30s but I’m really looking for a friend who is closer to me in life experience. It’s not necessarily the apps fault there wasn’t someone there, but it’s a downside I wanted to point out. The solution to that, according to the app, is to invite Your friends… but That’s why I’m here.

I wanted to edit my location because I felt it was too precise but the teleport button you’re supposed to use to change that did not work and there was nowhere in the settings that allowed it.

With no good matches and feeling a little exposed with the precise location and the picture, I wanted to delete my profile. Nowhere on the app does it allow it. So I sent an email waiting to hear how and that was 2 days ago, no response yet.

The day after I sent the email about deleting my account, I got a notification I had a match and to click this button to see who it is! When I did it took me to a page to pay for a membership before they’ll let me see who the match is.

My opinion, don’t waste your time or risk your data on this app.

### 5/5 — Hey Vina’s

*2024-06-04*

Hi! I am hoping to meet and make some great lifetime friends with so many things in common with me. I’ve always tried to be good but most of my experience hasn’t. I have been lonely for a long time, I’m looking to make a new clique of friends who party, are looking to better themselves, honourably of course, and genuine honest sincere friends, like priceless pearls with so much beauty to offer. And good virtues. And I am looking for someone to cling onto, not romantically as my bestie.

### 5/5 — Getting used to it :)

*2022-08-08*

Suggestion, maybe if you guys could add a religion option, that shows, just to find more meaningful matches?

### 5/5 — Wish I had this app whilst at uni

*2021-08-09*

Honestly, I wish I knew about this app whilst at university.

I have severe anxiety and this made my uni experience difficult, especially in terms of making friends as I spent most of my days indoors and not actually going to events!

However, I’m glad to now have discovered this app. I’ve only had it for a few days, but I’m enjoying speaking to people and making friends. I’ve forgotten what this feels like!

### 5/5 — ☺️☺️☺️ - pros and cons

*2021-02-06, version 4.0.1*

I love that when you get a ditto, Olivia sends an ice breaker that highlights both ladies’ interests!

One thing that I hope changes in the future is the notification system. I don’t get notifications from the app, but this could be a problem on my end. :|)

Another thing that I would love to see in the future is more languages for the app face! I can guess that this is a difficult thing to do, but I still think it would be AWESOME. I would love to practice Spanish or Italian, but it’s hard to find someone on the app who speaks either. Even pairing certain people with other people who speak the same languages would be a huge step!

I love that it’s “made for women, by women,” BUT still has an option for men who want to join the app and make friends. It would be cool to see an app in the future just like Hey! Vina: “made for men, by men” but still allows women to make friends on the app!

### 5/5 — Can’t complain

*2020-10-31, version 4.0.1*

Considering I only used the app for a whopping 2 months before the pandemic hit—I consider myself very lucky to have made some friends on Hey Vina. I have continued to use the app since the world turned upside down and I have been pretty happy with it. I appreciate that the app developers/operators are continuing to make improvements and add features. There are some occasional glitches, but nothing too major. I’ve renewed my three month subscription each time it comes up and I don’t anticipate ending it anytime soon.

### 5/5 — Great experience

*2019-10-01*

I’ve met a few friends on this app already, easy to use, love the look of the app and just a great way to meet genuine people! No pervs or anything like that. I just wish you’d make one for my boyfriend so he could meet male friends! He doesn’t drink or watch football, so he finds it hard to meet guys like him! Great app anyway!

### 5/5 — Great way to meet a new best friend!

*2019-04-27, version 3.2.3*

I’m only a couple days into this and I’ve already met girls like me who are super friendly, outgoing, and relatable. If you’re looking for genuinely good VINAS to meet, this app is for you! This app is mainly for college students, moms who just wants to meet other mom friends, someone who just recently moved into town, introverts, if you’re too busy to meet people , or if you’re just overall wanting new friends! There’s numerous reasons why people use this app! It’s super diverse and versatile. Who knows, you might just meet your new best friend. Don’t miss out!

### 5/5 — 2:40 AM realizations

*2019-02-11, version 3.1.1*

Hello there, I’ve never personally opened the app after I’ve downloaded it. I’ve always been too busy with work to utilize it. But tonight, scrolling through my apps needing updated, the update description caught my eye. And then, I found myself scrolling through and reading every single update and literally just laughing to myself. The fact that you put so much thought just into what you’re going to say when updating your app and the time and effort to put them to today’s hit music! I love it!! I didn’t realize this was something I needed to see and be reminded of the little things in life. So thank you!
-Justice

### 5/5 — love it, but..

*2019-01-01*

i hate the fact you have to pay to see who swiped you. everything ab the app is really nice, but i wanna know who swiped me!

### 5/5 — Happy so far!

*2018-10-26, version 3.0.6*

Be patient! I’ve had the app for a month and a half, haven’t paid to see who swipes me, and so far have 4 dittos which is really exciting! I’ve chatted with 3, 1 of which didn’t follow up. The fourth didn’t seem like a good match after checking her IG account, so 2 out of those 4 have potential and have been really nice! And there were TONS of profiles in my region which was surprising (NH & outside of Boston). I made it a policy to pass on anyone who didn’t bother to say anything specific in their profile. If they choose to put in effort in the future, they’ll show up on my list again which is nice. So happy to have found this app and looking forward to new friends!
