Can’t use the app for free at all. **Developer response:** Hey there! HeyPolo does offer free trials that you can sign up for after choosing a plan. These are meant to let you try the service before subscribing: • 3-day free trial on the monthly plan • 7-day free trial on the annual plan Also, one subscription covers your whole group, so family or friends can join at no extra cost. If someone you know already has a plan, you can join their group for free. If you need help, please reach out to support@heypolo.com. ### 1/5 — No free option *2026-05-01* Wants me to be on a plan. Please feel free to get in touch with us at support@heypolo.com. 💙 ### 3/5 — Private but needs more functionality *2026-08-18* Our family used LIFE360 out of necessity but then sadly discovered their horrible record regarding privacy. We trialed HeyPolo and found the following: Locations are unlimited and you can set multiple location alerts for per person. This is HUGE! To get that on Life360, you have to pay $150 annually, while lower tier options get you alerts for two locations total, which doesn’t cut it for a family. So that’s a win for HeyPolo! In HeyPolo, the blue location indicator on iPhones stays lit for a good amount of time. Young family members found this concerning and too invasive. They know their location is being used all the time but they don’t want to be reminded of it so much. The location indicator stayed on so much that it became meaningless to them as they could not tell if something else nefarious was tracking them. The deal breaker issue with HeyPolo is that each member has to open it every day (?) or so (?) to remain active. Even with the two recommended location settings turned on, those family members that did not open the app would just stall and never show an updated location. Not useful for us at all! The whole idea is to know family member locations without them having to check in or remember to open an app. So that’s a huge issue for us. The good news is that HeyPolo, does NOT waste space and effort providing silly unnecessary comments you can send each other. They don’t have ads. They do not report on driving info (nor sell it presumably). They don’t deem a drive as safe or unsafe. (That also means they don’t erroneously detect a passenger’s phone use as a dangerous drive like Life360 regularly does.) HeyPolo claims that they don’t sell your data. The developers are responsive and rolling out fixes. I am hopeful about HeyPolo but just need improvements to make it more useful for families. **Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback! Instead of showing battery level, the app sends low battery alerts that inform other people when the battery level drops to around 20%. We would gladly investigate the issues you had with location tracking while the app was working in the background and hear your thoughts on how to improve HeyPolo in general. This was an issue for us as each of us have more than four places that need alerts. Secondly, the blue location indicator on iPhones stays lit for a good amount of time. Young family members found this concerning and too invasive. They know their location is being used all the time but they don’t want to be reminded of it so much. The location indicator stayed on so much that it became meaningless to them as they could not tell if something else nefarious was tracking them. Third, HeyPolo does not show the battery status of family members. In Life360, you could see the low battery and then adjust your expectations if the app showed them stuck, etc. We could assume dead battery after seeing low battery status. Now in HeyPolo, that lack of info won’t help when location fails. Fourth, each member has to open HeyPolo every day or so to remain active. Even with the two recommended location settings turned on, those family members that did not open the app would just stall and never show an updated location. Not useful for us at all!
