And once you’re stuck in a 6+ ad loop, don’t expect to be able to rewind or start a show over. You have to wait several minutes before you can do anything. I almost had my husband willing to watch hgtv with me, until he experienced this ad nightmare with me. We saw the same commercial 3 times during each commercial break! ### 2/5 — Gone downhill! *2026-04-24, version 9.5.0* Used to enjoy this channel but now it’s the same old stuff - slow turnover of shows! I get that ads are necessary but this is a bit much. It feels like you get a short hgtv break in the middle of your ads instead of the other way around. Update (reply to developer): Thank you for responding. Yes, that does sound like my experience. However, while each ad block may be limited to 3 minutes, by the time I have to watch 3 of them, it is a total of 9 minutes which is almost a third of the length of the 30 minute show. I’d prefer the ads not take up 1/3 of the time. But maybe that’s an unrealistic expectation these days? ### 2/5 — Hunk of junk *2025-04-01, version 9.1.0* Problems with this app include chronic closing on its own and loss of video. I subscribe to Discovery+ which has HGTV shows…but lately many of the new seasons of popular shows are not immensely available unless you purchase them. Instead of waiting until months after release, I watch them on HGTV GO…but ads dominate the experience. It's horrible! Here's why... - In watching an HGTV program, as well as in the myriad of commercials, the sound/voices do not synch up with the mouths moving! Like watching a poorly dubbed Japanese movie or show. Uninstalling and reinstalling/restarting TV and app does NOT fix the problem. The voices speak before the mouths move even on the ads. - Can't get back to "Home" screen. Whatever HGTV show I watched last, is what appears on screen the next time I use the app. I see nothing to click on the screen or on my remote to get back to main home screen to choose a different show. Again, uninstalling/reinstalling and restarting TV and app does not resolve the problem. NOTE::: Because I can’t get back to Home Screen to choose a different show, I do not know if the problem with the audio not matching up to the mouths is a problem with ALL shows and ads, or just the episodes of shows I’ve been watching (entire Season 1 and Season 2 of “My Lottery Dream Home” - Lots and lots of commercials!! It fails to login using DirecTV credentials. Contacted DirecTV & it’s not on the end it’s on the apps end.
