### 4/5 — It’s ok

*2019-11-22*

I like the first 4 levels but I’m not paying for the rest I rather play online

### 3/5 — Hmmm...

*2011-06-01, version 3.0*

I like Daniel Johnston but this is just kind of an annoying and frustrating platformer with awkward controls. At least I only paid 99 cents.

### 5/5 — Big fun in a small package for kids of all ages!

*2010-09-25, version 0*

A little bit ashamed to say I bought this several months ago, and just started playing it for the first time today.

What a pleasant surprise when I started actually playing it! The interface is intuitive and configurable, the character designs are pretty charming, and Daniel Johnston's music in the background makes it totally addictive. My only concern is that my face may crack wide open from smiling while I play.

A $2.99 purchase that no kid of any age will regret, I love it.

Suggestion: How about a Roky Erickson game?

### 5/5 — Fun fun fun

### 5/5 — Great but needs a level update

*2010-07-19, version 0*

Needs more levels but other than that, I enjoyed it.

### 5/5 — Fun times

*2010-06-28, version 0*

Great game especially for the tykes. Will recommend to my friends with kids. My nieces and nephews will love it. The use of local Austin color both graphically and musically makes this game a treat.

### 5/5 — Possibly the best iPod/iPhone game

*2010-06-11, version 0*

When I got it, it seemed terrible. Worst game ever. But once I got through the first level, It was a party for my gameing sense! P.S. I was not payed to write this.

### 5/5 — Only one of a kind

*2010-05-26*

I hardly give reviews for apps. I only do if I absolutely love the app, or just flat out hate it. In this case, it's absolute love!

There are definitely no complaints about this app! The stunning 3D graphics are only one on a kind. You will never see another app (besides all your other ones) that has the same out-of-this-world graphics put in place.

And the story! It's amazing (and tragic)! So far, at the time of this review, I have just reached the third form of Jeremih (sorry if I spelled the name wrong). All the levels are equally balanced with a perfect amount of difficulty added with each level.

If I had one complaint, it would be about a song. The one song where he is talking about running(?) and weather in the chorus. The person singing sounds like he has a hoarse throat. I would say this would be the only change needed to be made.

Once again, congratulations on your success with this game. I look forward to more updates!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn't work!

*2015-01-28, version 3.0*

I bought the full version and whenever I finish the tutorial level it goes into a screen that says "Pirate Version Detected" and asks me to get the full version... Which I already paid for.

### 1/5 — Doesn't really work?

*2014-11-21, version 3.0*

Purchased game, played first level, a screen comes up that says Pirate Version Detected and I can't play any more. I'll miss you, four dollars.

### 1/5 — Do not buy. Doesn't work

*2014-10-10, version 3.0*

Playing on iPhone 6 it thinks it's pirated

### 1/5 — Wast of space

*2014-03-20, version 3.0*

This game is stupid and it is a waste if storage get a better game. So unless you want to waste space don't get it

### 1/5 — Awful.

*2010-07-06, version 0*

A beat the clock type game? No thanks.

### 1/5 — Revised version is frustrating

*2010-04-13, version 0*

I first purchased it last year after reading the review in the NYT and had a lot of fun completing the levels and saving the damsel. The new version now requires the player to reach certain goals (like gold cups) before proceeding, not just finishing the levels.
I am stuck at level 10 and cannot proceed any further.
I am deleting the app.

### 1/5 — Stopped working, no answer from developer

*2010-02-26, version 0*

This app stopped working after I updated my iPhone o/s. No fix or reply from developer. When I run it, it says I have a pirate version and should buy it again! Who's the pirate? They took my money and this app does not work. DON'T BUY unless they fix it.

### 1/5 — save your money and say its BAD

*2010-02-18, version 0*

bad controls bad levels = save money ( DO NOT BUY )

### 1/5 — Bad!!!

*2010-01-01, version 0*

This game gets boring after the first level. It is so slow and repetative, I don't know ehat made me want to buy it. Waste of money and should be free. Please believe me and don't make the mistake I did. I read the reviews and they were all 5 star but when I opened the game I was like WTF? Is this seriously what I just spent my money on. Avoid!!!

### 2/5 — Eeh

*2010-03-29, version 0*

Not very good. Do not buy!!!! Horrible

### 5/5 — We love you, Daniel!

*2011-07-05, version 3.0*

This is so much more than a game, it's a dive into the world and art of Daniel Johnston! I fell in love with his music and art when I watched the documentary. Today when I found this app I new I had to try it. It far exceeded my expectations! I usually mute the sound on my iPod when playing games, this is the only one I've turned up! Love it love it love it! Thanks Daniel!

### 5/5 — The icon!

*2011-02-21, version 3.0*

For the love of all things artistic, please remove the horrifying banner.

Enjoy this quirky and endearing platformer brimming with great level design, colorful art, and hypnotizing soundtrack. More than an art title, this has gameplay to back up it's style.
