But this app does not perform well as a live auction bidding platform. Several times now, I have had the highest bid, and watched the lot close just to exit the app and return later to find that I was actually outbid on the item. This is extremely frustrating. The search function also does not work according to basic logic and reason. I’ve had to learn by trial and error how to execute a valid search. The last two complaints I have are minor but it would be nice if the payment/pickup terms and shipping options were easier to see on the auction catalog and lots page. This would make bidding much quicker and more organized. And finally, the method for adding items to the watchlist is difficult and the area to click is very small so there’s a lot of unintentional clicks into items. Adding a swipe feature to the lots would solve this issue and would also be an easy and useful option for placing a quick bid. And for goodness sake, add some item descriptions. ### 2/5 — Outbid *2024-09-15* Using this platform, I have been the high bidder when the bidding closes. For several minutes it says I am winning and then inexplicably shows me that I have been outbid. The time remaining showing on the watchlist is not always accurate. I think some auctions also end early. Companies running their auctions on this platform could make more money if the platform accepted more increased bids. I would have bid my items up more but I thought I had already won. ### 2/5 — App keeps failing *2024-08-09* I started using the Hibid website before I learned about this app. After i set up my account on my phone I was able to use it for a few days before it locked me out and wouldn’t recognize the password. I deleted the app and reinstalled my account. But a couple days later (today) it locked me out again. Again I deleted and reinstalled but it didn’t last a day before locking me out again. Very frustrating! I’m going to reinstall one more time. If it happens again I’m deleting the app for good. — With all the complaints I’ve been reading about, how on earth does this app have a 4.7 rating??? ### 3/5 — Please fix bugs *2024-08-05* Layout is good and user interface is decent. App keeps crashing even while placing bids which is ridiculous as it defeats the purpose. Watchlist lags while scrolling through. Another thing is when you’re scrolling through your saved items you’ll only be able to see a few and it loops back to the first one again and eventually crashes. I spoke with someone there at HiBid about this and the response was it doesn’t work well with Apple devices and told me I should use their laptop version. When I save something to my favorites on the laptop version it doesn’t merge with the app version. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! I love the app when it is working. ### 3/5 — Good for Browsing but *2024-04-27* Use desktop to bid as timer is not accurate. Also, the search capabilities as so poor as to be non existent. Finding by date or map is fine, but I cannot do a simple search by Auction House. Would also like the ability to sort by time or alphabetically. So again good to just look around but if you’re a serious bidder don’t rely on app. ### 2/5 — App does not report closing bids properly *2024-04-22* I normally bid from my desktop. Used the app version over the weekend to monitor bids while I was away. App showed I had the winning bids up to closing. Came home to discover I lost ALL my auctions to snipe bids that the app failed to update. Do NOT trust this app if you are bidding!!! It's good for a search tool only. Use your desktop to monitor your active bids and soft closings. Frustrating! ### 2/5 — Crashing Watchlist *2024-04-12* Any of the lists (Watchlist, Past Watchlist, Bid list, etc) that have endless scroll eventually crash. Also, please make the “Watch/Unwatch” button bigger and on the edge of the listing, not nested inside so that if you hit the wrong spot you’ll enter the listing. Also, if you enter a listing from the watchlist etc, it should be able to go back to the place you were on the list. What’s wrong with these people? ### 2/5 — You may have a bug? *2024-03-16* Let me start by saying I’ve used this app for more than a year without issue. I’m getting my auctioneers license and now I’m thinking twice about using this site? I was bidding this morning on an item, it showed I was winning the bid with a soft closing all the way to blinking red closing indication. I clicked on the link to look closer at the lot. It said I had been outbid at 160? When I reversed back to the list of lots it said I was still winning? I even took screenshots. By the time I figured out what was going on I could no longer bid, it was closed. there was two minutes for the app to adjust, and it did not. The auction house lost up to $100 I was willing to go to 250 and thought I had won. Bidders beware and keep a close eye. ### 3/5 — Okay but filter and sort options are poor *2024-03-14* This app is okay, but the filtering capabilities are really weak. You can’t really filter down much. Also, the sort function is awful. Generally, if you try to sort a list, all of your filters will be reset. Could be much better. ### 3/5 — Don’t trust the countdown time or bid amount on watch list. *2024-03-13* I was happy to see there was an app for Hibid. It was nice to not need to sign in all the time like I had to on the website but I do have to complain about countdown and bids that are showing on the watch page. The countdown clock can be off by 25 minutes or more as you switch back and forth from looking at an item to looking at your watch list. An item may have ended and it will still show a 25 minute countdown on your watch page. It would be nice to be able to see ended auctions like you can on the website. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No Watch List *2024-10-19* I’ve been using HiBid for years on the website, and finally decided to try out the app. Login was easy but the first thing I wanted to do was check my watch list. Well, I’ve looked everywhere, there is no watch list feature. What’s the ooint of clucking the star on an item to add to watch list, if there is mo way to find them later? That alone makes it a useless app for me, I’ll go back to using the website ### 1/5 — Bad ui *2024-09-12* On the website there is a symbol for when an auction does not offer shipping, but on this app no such symbol is used and I put out bids only to later find that that auction does not offer shipping. Needs to be addressed asap. The app also feels like it’s running 15 frames per second with how stuttery the scrolling feels. The only upside I’ve found is that I don’t have to constantly refresh a browser because a page won’t load randomly ### 1/5 — Constantly glitching & won’t allow bidding *2024-09-10* I was very excited to find this app. Made a few successful purchases from local auctions, but then all of a sudden HiBid stopped allowing me to register for any auctions. I reached out to the auction companies directly and confirmed that it was HiBid not allowing me to register not the auction companies. I tried contacting HiBid multiple times, but to no luck. I don’t recommend this app to anyone. ### 1/5 — Horrible App, Even worse auctioneers. *2024-08-26* My last review negative never got submitted, but I’m going to come back and leave another as this is the final straw. The app logged me out and wouldn’t let me log back in during a huge auction I was bidding on. There are endless problems between the HiBid applications and the auctioneers that use the platform. It’s not going to exist if they don’t lose the ancient methods. You’re better off using any other platform. I hope you can’t afford to keep your servers running. I come to spend & you have lost me. ### 1/5 — Is this place a scam? *2024-05-29* I have bought and sold hundreds of things on eBay and have never had such a terrible experience as I have with HiBid. I purchased an item more than two weeks ago and still have not receivedd the item or for that matter had the seller respond to my messages. What a scam. They charged my credit card and no item. Good luck making a complaint to HiBid! They never answer and the message said they will return my call during business hours. I called at 10am and 2pm. Hello those are business hours. So basically go to HiBid. Win an auction. Never get item. Never get any contact from seller. Never get any way to complain to HiBid. Out of money. Go to eBay!! Not HiBid. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-05-03* You can’t search by lot # once you get into your chosen auction. It is constantly kicking you out of the app and then when you go back in you have to start your search all over. There is no general search where you can just type in a specific item name and it finds it. Auction items are not classified correctly. For example a .50 cal rifle should have been under ‘Rifles’ but it was under camping equipment. I was 500 items scrolling down and hibid decided to freak out and go back to the home page. And if you think you’re going to bid for some last minute pricing, guess again the page constantly refreshes and you can never get back to where you started in time to win your auction. You think maybe just put the whole bid you would like down first, but because they show that information to the auctioneer so they always stay a dollar underneath your bid. all the inconsistencies with auctioneers verbal abuse. It’s wild. Today was a first with HiBid, but not a surprise. I ordered a lot of costume jewelry and inside the box. They filled it with rocks. I’m guessing to make a little more on shipping. There’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. good luck getting a hold of anybody. It crashes 75% of the time, conveniently when you’ve scrolled through about 75% of an auction’s inventory, forcing you to have to restart and scroll all the way to that position again if you want to view the rest of it. Speaking of which, it does not let you start where you left off. Also, you have to go through many steps before you can view auctions that you’re interested in. It’s a very old school app that was probably designed by a junior developer who has long quit the job because they were being asked to do everything and not getting paid enough for it.
