Updating to the new 2.0 version seems to have deleted my existing widgets. When I tried to recreate the medium steps widget, it asked me to pay for a Pro account, something I’d be happy to do once, but I’m not paying $15 to get one steps graph. Appreciate that the widgets are a bit more customizable about timeframes, but I’m not a fan of the new look. I preferred when the graph was bolder and flatter and easier to read at a glance. Sorry, now I need to find a new app.

First of all, when the subscription is being advertised, it doesn’t list all the features it contains which is annoying. This makes you have to guess what you have access to or not, since “Pro” widgets don’t have a label indicating their exclusivity when going through the menus (only when you’re about to create one). So, I think that’s a very much needed feature. Additionally, upon unknowingly choosing a “Pro” widget, noticing it’s not available to you, and pressing the cancel button to go back to the selection menu, it opens the “buy the Pro version” screen which is annoying. This forces you to slide downward to ACTUALLY go back which is not intuitive. Other than that, it’s probably decent, granted you buy the Pro version. There’s plenty of customization and plenty of widgets.

Here’s the catch: a developer publishes an app a few years ago, and makes it a paid app. The thing is complete, works well and doesn’t really need changes. The app doesn’t get any updates for a few years but continues working perfectly. 

Then one day you look at your phone and the widgets are gone. You check the App Store and realize the developer swapped the app to be free, but requiring a subscription.

A scam. That’s all there is to it.

Depuis la dernière mise à jour, je ne peux plus utiliser de widget avec des graphiques sans payer l’application pro. La mise à jour a retiré des fonctionnalités pour les rendre payantes ! On parle d’une application que j’avais acheté dans sa v1. Impossible d’accepter de payer la version pro sachant que les fonctionnalités pourront être retirés dans une prochaine v3 …

The app has been updated to 2.0. Like most apps this included a significantly more expensive subscription based model. I had bought the app when 1.0. It met all my needs and worked well. Now it’s been updated and I’ve lost access. I’ve contacted support and no reply. I do not endorse the shady business practice of this app. Who knows, version 3.0 may also revoke your app purchase.

Update: Was emailed by dev and told to submit a ticket, within the hour was provided a code to restore my lifetime license. 

App used to be great. Those of us who paid for the app previously now get spit in our face. This should be considered fraud. This is why most people aren’t willing to pay for things.

Ich habe jetzt zum 4. Mal alles neu konfigurieren müssen, weil die App alle Daten verloren hat.

Davor ist mein Einmalkauf einfach ungültig geworden und ich wurde genötigt ein Abo abzuschließen. 

Nur per Support war eine Wiederherstellung des gekauften Zugangs möglich. Bei vernünftiger Programmierung der IAP und Entitlements wäre das kein Thema. Dazu der ständige Datenverlust von daher muss ich von der App abraten.

Immer wieder muss ich die Widgets neu anlegen. Außerdem kann man nicht mehr einstellen, dass die Health App startet, wenn man auf ein Widget tippt.

This was a good app but version 2 should have been a new app so I didn’t loose my paid version 1 that worked great. What good is a life time if a new version cancels it. (Why would i pay twice for an app)

I don’t think this is a good way to treat customers.

Would give 0 stars if allowed as I did not care for the solution offered.  Deleted app and will not revisit. 

Don’t waste your money.

I purchased the lifetime access in the previous version. This has been removed in the current version. I was directed to send a help request, but the support page crashes when requesting support. They took my money and ran, leaving me with no access.

It literally takes 24hrs to update the steps ... i want to see steps for today not yesterday 

It shows incorrect data and takes hours to update, it accumulates days and doesn't know when you change time zones

please fix. I also paid premium lifetime

UPDATED REVIEW: Wow this app was great it feels like a slap on the face that after buying the app a long time ago I now have to purchase it again for an additional $20 just to have features that I already had before with my first purchase...unbelievable. You should honor your customers prior to the 2.0 update and give them the automatic "Pro" upgrade because this is just silly.

The author decided to flip a paid app into a subscription model and ended up locking out all of the previous users. It’s been months and the restore purchase option still doesn’t work.

I have never seen such a disgusting method. I used to have a permanent pro version subscription. After the update, all functions disappeared. Clicking restore cannot restore the subscription. There is no response when sending an email. Don't pay money to this dishonest app developer.

Despite my purchase of a lifetime license couple years ago, the app auto updated and now requires a subscription for even the most basic functionality. After contacting support I received a code that should allow me to use this new version for a year but the code never worked and they never followed up when I reported the issue. I'm not going to bother anymore, other free apps do the same thing. Waste of time and money.

Cela fait des années que j’utilise l’application qui fonctionnait parfaitement jusqu’à il y’a quelque temps les widget n’affiche plus rien j’ai envoyer un mail afin de comprendre et aucune réponse du coup j’ai payer les 17 euros pour avoir le pro et au final toujours pareil donc arnaque totale 🙄😓🤦🏻‍♂️. Je ne recommande pas du tout .

Ich habe die App 2022 gekauft. Nach Einführung des neuen Subscription-Modells Anfang 2025 fehlte der Vollzugriff. Nach meiner ursprünglichen negativen Rezension und einer E-Mail konnte der Zugriff nach mehreren Monaten wiederhergestellt werden. Nun funktioniert die App wie gewünscht.

UPDATE:
The developers responded to my emails and provided me with a code to get the lifetime access to their pro version. So changed my rating to 5 stars.

Although I love the new features of version 2, I’m disappointed that I cannot restore or use my previous purchase of version 1 of the app.

I have reached out to the developer as mentioned in their app’s description several times through the app and their website but it’s been months and still haven’t received a response.

I love the new Hidget 2.0! The updated UI is much prettier, a definite improvement. While it took a little while to set everything up initially, the added customization options are worth it. I did encounter a bug where I couldn't restore my Pro purchase from the original Hidget, but Marcel provided me with a code to redeem my Pro access. Overall, a great update!
