### 3/5 — Can’t share recipe

*2026-01-08, version 1.33*

Absolutely love this app! So handy for training new team members!
I’d love to be able so sort the cocktails into folders - spritz, margs, classics etc

Recipe sharing is also a pain. I can’t import from photos and typing in the codes is a nightmare.

All in all though, best app on the market! I just wish I could make a few small changes

### 4/5 — Great app, could use some things

*2025-08-02, version 1.33*

Love this app. HOWEVER, it would be great if I could share recipes with other users, and if the instructions section allowed numerical steps in list form, with carriage returns.

### 4/5 — Does its thing

*2025-07-05, version 1.33*

This app does what it does pretty well. Categories might be nice but you can filter on keywords. The only bug I find is that changing the Qty doesn't stick. It reverts back to one.

### 4/5 — So good but could be better

*2025-07-03, version 1.33*

Honestly I love this app but the share feature could be improved, as sending the card to someone via the share button just sends them a link to the App Store page, and not the cocktail card.

I love the image idea but the options are a little bit lacking or scarce.

And maybe an option to input a certain amount of cocktails as opposed to clicking through 1-5 serves.

Other than these little things I absolutely love the app and use it regularly!

Would happily pay for the add on content if it were to be made apart of it.

### 3/5 — Love it but needs improving

*2025-06-05, version 1.33*

I like this app, but I use it I guess too much it keeps crashing, and sometimes I’ll need to start a recipe over. Some ids didn’t work from photos it’s like 50/50 chance. I also would like it if I could link websites and/or put any photo and it summarize the recipe. 😁

### 5/5 — Essential

*2024-11-14*

This is the only app I would recommend somebody passionate about making drinks needs. From Novice to expert a profoundly useful tool. My only request is that they create a way to share cocktails through accounts, and a cloud system that makes me feel sure my recipes won’t be gone forever.

I also want to note that when on the job the accessibility of the card system is genius. When you have no time quick this proves efficient.

### 5/5 — Perfectly simple.

*2024-06-17, version 1.33*

This is exactly what I was looking for to keep my cocktail recipes organized and easily accessible. Customizing the image of the drink is a neat touch. Couldn’t be happier!

### 4/5 — Love, but can’t send recipes via text

*2024-05-29, version 1.33*

I absolutely love this app and use it all the time. Colorful, easy to use, big fan. My only beef with it is that I have to screenshot recipes to share them with people. If I hit the share button in the app, it only directs people to the Apple Store to download the app, even if they already have the app.

### 5/5 — The best app of its kind.

*2024-04-14, version 1.33*

Despite its age since its last update, 5 years as of this review, this is the best app of its kind.
It needs some TLC to fix some issues, like sharing the card via message is not working.
I fear this app is abandoned and if it is I am very sad.
I ask the developers, if you don’t have time to work on this app anymore, I get it it’s a lot of work for no revenue. Could you consider Open Sourcing the code? So it could live on and maybe even a MacOS version could be built if it’s Open Sourced?

### 4/5 — From a bartender and drink enthusiast

*2024-02-23, version 1.33*

This app is elite for someone who knows what they’re doing and wants to share clean and excellent images of the drinks you come up with. The ability to customize the image of the drink and specify instructions is great. Could use more advanced features such as tagging or sorting or better formatted instructions like bullet points or check lists. All in all 4/5 is a great app which could use just a few advanced sorting and formatting features.

### 5/5 — really cool app

*2023-11-21, version 1.33*

Love it, just wish there were more garnish options

### 5/5 — Great App for studying or quick referencing

*2023-11-09, version 1.33*

I’ve been using this app for years at many different bars.

You can imagine over the years how many cocktails I have input.

If there was one tiny thing that would make this app even better, would be to add a way to move multiple flash cards upward to the front at a time!

Every new menu that comes out, I always input the new cocktails into this app. The problem I have is that when you input new material, it always ends up at the bottom of the list. I like to open up the app and have the new cocktails right up at the top where I won’t have to scroll down all the way. Although you can move individual cards (and I always do when inputting), it is such a tedious tasks to do 30 cocktails at a time individually to the top of my long list! If I could select and move them together, that would save me so much time instead of tediously moving them individually.

Also, I agree, updated garnishes would be an extra credit! (Lime and lemon wheels, pineapple fronds, an orchid etc.)

Also, the addition of a neat pour image would be beneficial for sazerac style cocktails. The image looks silly when it looks like a full glass of cocktail with no ice haha

Again,

Thank you for such a solid app that I constantly use on the daily for years.

Hoping to see some updates soon! It seems like it’s been a very long time since this has been updated. Hoping that will change!

### 3/5 — This App Really needs some UPDATING!!

*2023-10-08, version 1.33*

• Please add the RETURN key to the keyboard and give us a larger character count to be available to us. (Like typing into NOTE)
• Add Pineapple fronds for (Garnishes)
• Tajin colored Rim for Rimming (EXTRAS)
• Swizzles and other TIKI (EXTRAS)

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2023-10-04, version 1.33*

Absolutely fantastic app! My staff and I use this all the time to note down all our ideas! Definitely a must if you are a bartender, very easy to share ideas and specifications to the team when needed!

I’d love to see a way to put drinks in folders? So similar specs could be next to each other, sour, sweet etc!

### 5/5 — Great app that I’m afraid to lose!

*2023-09-10, version 1.33*

This is a great app for collecting cocktail recipes. I’ve got well over a hundred cards in Highball and use it all the time.

What makes me nervous is this is a free app that seems like it’s one breaking iOS update issue away from disappearing. I’d love to pay/subscribe to help keep this around, or have some other export option besides saving each card to the camera roll.

The app is beautiful and does what I need. A sort feature would be nice, but search works great.

### 5/5 — Really good!

*2023-08-10, version 1.33*

I’ve seen screenshots of cocktails from this app all over and I finally found it! I’m glad I did since it’s such a great resource! Just wish you could publicly share your cocktail creations on the app to make a massive masterlist/data base but everything else seems perfect so far

### 4/5 — Great app - would benefit from more options

*2023-05-06, version 1.33*

Love this app - would be even better with more options to sort drinks or to add floats, more garnishes, etc

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Sharing is impossible

*2023-08-04, version 1.33*

Made countless drinks and sharing is impossible. Great design and feel, worthless to share a recipe with friends.

### 1/5 — Recipe sharing broken

*2023-01-16, version 1.33*

App must be dead. No update in 4 years.

### 1/5 — Great idea. Poor implementation

*2022-05-26, version 1.33*

This was my cocktail app for years, until I had to wipe my iPhone. The developer has failed to implement any way to backup or transfer the cocktails that you’vs carefully added to the “library.” So basically this is just some kind of slick joke app. Maybe this would’ve been ok back in the era of lighter and beer drinking apps. But it’s 2022 and this app is still stuck in 2009. It looks great and works well, but don’t count on it.

I hope Apple remove this #abandonware from the App Store.

### 1/5 — No Updates in 2 Years

*2021-04-19, version 1.33*

Upgraded my phone and lost everything I had put in the app. There needs to be a way to back up, export, or sync information but with no updates in 2 years I’m not hopeful. Time to find a new app

### 1/5 — Needs an update to support newer devices

*2021-03-05, version 1.33*

Please update.

### 2/5 — All show, no go

*2025-08-18, version 1.33*

It looks good, but the functionality is basically nil. You cannot even order your recipes the way you want. Total fail. Makes me doubt the quality and usability of their other products as well.

### 2/5 — Used to be a great app

*2024-05-26, version 1.33*

Pefecft for batching up cocktails. Sharing no longer works. Simply sends a link to the app and name of cocktail you want to share.

### 2/5 — I truly love this app but

*2022-01-15, version 1.33*

Im only giving this a two stars because there needs to be a way to export multiple recipes at once. Everyone would also greatly appreciate having the ability to organize into folders or alphabetically, and the cherry on top would be to have a cloud. Please please please bring these features into the next update, this app deserves 5 stars but I want to get someone’s attention with the low rating. I use this for my craft cocktail bar and we have so many cocktails and it is so difficult to use this app for the reasons mentioned, but I don’t want to use any other app.

### 2/5 — It’s pretty. I use it but overly simple

*2018-12-19, version 1.33*

This is a lovely app. I mean specifically the looks. I use the app to keep track of recipes but the app needs just a few additions. The ability to sort would be huge and is the largest need. The ability to backup is almost as important. I’d pay a few bucks if they added a good sorting option. Also searching the recipes they have is quite poor. It seems they made the app to try and sell their hardware. The ice mood and such. Redirect the business model and update the app. Could make a few bucks. Make a follower ability so I can follow cocktail artists I like.

### 2/5 — Has so much potential

*2018-03-20*

These guys have the potential for a great looking and functional app, but this is clearly not a focus. End user experience is replaced by pretty finished cards. A paid model could offset development costs and actually turn this into a solid revenue center for the developers, BUT, they would need to work with beverage professionals and make this a focus product.

I recommend saving your time and build out your cocktails in Google Docs, Evernote, or even Excel. You’ll lose the pretty graphics but you’ll have easy sharing, you can copy and paste, use a computer or mobile device to enter, etc.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Still Perfect

*2026-03-21, version 1.33*

The app hasn’t been updated in 7 years, but it still looks as perfect as the day it was built. Now that’s design.

### 5/5 — Love

*2026-03-12, version 1.33*

I use this app for my own recipes and I love it 💕🫶 it’s very beautifully designed and I love how it auto converts units too 😀 app has been recommended to me once by a coworker and it will stay with me I’m sure 🥰

### 5/5 — Absolute Smash of an App

*2025-12-03, version 1.33*

One of my favourite apps for sure. Simple and elegant design but powerful enough to get the job done.
I work in fine dining and there’s always lots of inspiration for cocktails to try. This app gives the perfect place to keep all my recipes in one spot and browse them quickly and elegantly. Adding new cocktail builds is really easy and enjoyable, and tweaking them is simple too.
I only wish Neat Studio (developer) would make a duplicate app for cooking recipes. I would definitely pay for that. Great work from the team who made this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

### 5/5 — Restaurant Bartenders Rejoice

*2025-09-30, version 1.33*

Never not ever have I written a review for an app but Highball has made me break my decade long silence: This is literally MADE for restaurant bartenders. The user interface ROCKS and is such a fun study tool. You could get nit picky about it, but you make classics enough that you just know them, and you can delete and add seasonally. The fact you’re not charging for this and it’s ad free is absolutely WILD like I would pay $15 for this you’ve convinced me to devote myself to you I’ll work for ur company

### 5/5 — Still going strong, could use an update though

*2025-09-24, version 1.33*

Would love a backup export/import feature for posterity.

### 5/5 — Best Cocktail Keeper

*2025-09-11, version 1.33*

Quite easily the best cocktail keeping app. Has been around for AGES, no ads or pay and just quite aesthetically pleasing and simple to use. Would love to see them benefit from possible paid decks and partnerships (Anders Erickson, Educated Barfly, etc) perhaps, but still just perfect as it is. Thanks all for the effort in making such a simple and beautiful app free for us cocktail lovers!

### 5/5 — ESSENTIAL!!!

*2025-02-18, version 1.33*

I’m a new bartender and have been looking for an app to organize my recipes so they’re easy to look up while at work and this app is exactly what I was looking for! A feature I love too is being able to have the visual of the drink, too. It helps so much! The layout is perfect and easy to use. I’ll definitely be recommending to my other bartender friends so we can all throw out our cocktail notebooks😂

### 5/5 — Please update the portion multiplier

*2025-02-09, version 1.33*

I love this app. I use it all the time. My only complaint is that I often batch cocktails for big parties and need to be able to multiply the root recipe by a larger multiple than 5X. Can you please update that so there is a 20X limit vs 5X? Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great way to save your personal library of drink recipes

*2025-01-02, version 1.33*

Love this app and have been using it for quite a while. Overall the UI is clean and user-friendly and, most importantly, ad-free. It’s easy to record your favorite cocktail recipes and to recall them for use later and even lets you customize a stylized image of the drink on each recipe.

My two wishlist items would be:
1) The ability to reorder ingredient rows after typing them in, since you have to delete rows to move an ingredient up the list at the moment.
2) An option to keep your phone awake when using the app so you don’t have to keep unlocking it or adjust your auto-lock timeout in the Settings app.

Other than those two items I have no complaints. I love the simplicity and lack of distraction in the UI and the app runs great.

Thanks again!

### 5/5 — Essential

*2024-12-05, version 1.33*

This is the only app I would recommend somebody passionate about making drinks needs. From Novice to expert a profoundly useful tool. My only request is that they create a way to share cocktails through accounts, and a cloud system that makes me feel sure my recipes won’t be gone forever.
