And like the other reviews I agree it's brilliant for kids education if they are 3-14 ### 4/5 — Very well created app *2019-03-06, version 1.2.4* My kids love this app for all the variety of things that they can learn, especially languages. Wondering if the app will incorporate Portuguese as well? ### 2/5 — A couple issues! *2018-10-31* I got the app to review it for my nieces and nephews. It sounded like it had a variety of information that would educate & delight them. Couldn’t get past the register or sign in page. Also, nowhere, That I could easily find, was the pricing for this app. It just says “in App pricing”. Well where does one find how much this costs? If I ran into these 2 hiccups in such a short time. What other irritations are waiting for a potential customer? NIX - until they get the basic requirements of business straightend out. ### 4/5 — Great idea safe stuff for kids but.. *2018-08-14, version 1.0.20* Not easy to navigate kids have trouble on home page to get to videos etc . Needs bigger pictures for them to identify things . When use Disney or bbc kids the shows easy for them to choose . It’s on small screens at the moment- would like to be able to watch on TV screen. Everything has been great. Only drawback is that it seem a bit “babyish” for my 6 year old. He isn’t yet a reader but is easily bored with the content. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not As Expected/Not Useful *2021-09-09* Two problems with this app. First it crashes every time you click on the book icon, so you can’t access that area of it. Secondly, it gives you the option of choosing content in various languages besides English, but I didn’t see anything in the parts I could access. The videos are okay, but might as well watch the Cocomelon ones instead of paying for another app. ### 1/5 — Paid and still got trial version. The first three videos we watched featured a white girl and as a young boy of color it's important he sees diverse groups of people. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! We hope you will give Highbrow another chance soon :) ### 1/5 — Help requested *2018-04-15* This rating is a placeholder: if I get a reply from the devs and can access the content, I’ll give it an honest review. If not, it stays a 1. Looks like a fun app for my child, but I can’t access the free trial. It says, “Grown-ups only! To access, please enter.” Below that is a row of numbers that remains partially obscured (the bottoms of the numbers are clipped). I can select 3 numbers, and then the field is erased. Presumably, the intent was to show a simple math problem and then have the adult input the 3-digit answer. I see no math problem and only part of the numbers below. I’m using an 8+ with iOS v.11.3. I tried the obvious stuff like restarting the app and attempting to change the orientation to portrait. Before long, I noticed it lacked smooth transitions between the main menu screen and things to do. The main menu is an interesting layout but not everything is obvious. Then, it would not remember the sign in - acting like my sign-in was incorrect, which couldn’t have been possible. I’m a busy mom, and don’t have lots of time to figure out an app that keeps having quirks. Also - I don’t let my kids on my phone hardly ever. They were cut off cold turkey from YouTube before I got this app - but that does not mean that I have any need for them to use my phone for play. This app is not bad, I’m sure they have made improvements, but when I saw subscriptions can easily be canceled in my phone settings - this came to mind. Every month doing my budget, I’d get annoyed at this payment considering the sign-on and navigational quality issues I had with the app - why I’m spending $100 a year for something not even tangible - just unreal. Think the price point is too high. Price lower - and don’t raise it - and get more long term customers. ### 2/5 — Great content but now keeps crashing *2019-06-07* We’ve been using HighBrow app for months now and it’s been great. We had a terrible experience with inappropriate content on YouTube, and this not only allows me to get on with my day while trusting my kids are not able to access that sort of stuff anymore, but it also teaches them skills and let’s them learn!
