## What is hikeMap?

hikeMap is an easy, hassle-free and fun way to keep track of life's journeys no matter how short/long, local or exotic they are.  hikeMap provides a simple way to remember:

- the wondrous path you took.
- how unbelievably far you went.
- how crazy long you hiked.
- the lung-busting altitude changes during your adventure. 

When opened, hikeMap zooms to your current location and presents a satellite map to help you plan your hike.  With a single tap to start, tracking begins and you can put your iPhone away and enjoy your hike as it records every turns behind the scenes.  During the hike, you can dip into the app anytime to check your current progress, altitude and duration, or pause the app while you take a well earned break and soak in the views.

Once tracking is stopped, you can instantly share your hikeMap with friends and family via iMessage, email or favorite social media straight from the app* as well as saving to your photo library.  You can save and share as many versions of your hikeMap you'd like and use pinch-to-zoom to choose different perspectives to show off your achievements.

hikeMap also works for adventures beyond hiking including bike-rides, rowing, sailing, skiing, road-trips and more!

### 3/5 — Only metric? Too easy to lose stats

Would be nice for us backwards people in the USA to be able to choose miles traveled and feet climbed instead of all units in meters only. 

It’s too easy to accidentally STOP a hike AND lose the stats you’d been collecting. Would be nice to have some a CONFIRMATION dialog when stopping, as well as when starting while the app still holds data from a previous hike
