Hikez is the hiking journal for walkers, trekkers and climbers: record every outing, relive it, and share it if you want to. RECORD YOUR HIKES Built-in live GPS: distance, elevation gain, duration, altitude, speed. Your numbers in large type while you walk, and recording carries on with the screen off. A backup copy protects your track until it is saved. FOLLOW A GPX ROUTE Import a GPX file, let it guide you, and get a warning if you drift off the trail. Your route library has its own tab: search, tags and sorting. OFFLINE MAPS Maps download on their own around your routes: IGN maps and aerial photos in France, OpenStreetMap elsewhere. No signal in the mountains? Your map is already there. YOUR SUMMIT LOG Hikez recognises the summits you reach, from a built-in database that works offline. Photos, notes, sounds, the day's weather and how it felt: every hike, told. THE HIKEZ COMMUNITY (OPTIONAL) Create your account with Apple, no email needed. Post your hikes to your feed, follow other hikers, like and comment. Share your routes on the community map, anonymously, and discover other people's trails with their ratings and photos. A monthly leaderboard counts hikes recorded live. Private account available; every post can be reported and anyone blocked. HEALTH AND STATS Every hike becomes a workout in the Health app. Total elevation gain, distance, summits, time outdoors: your progress, season after season. YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL Your journal stays on your iPhone and in your private iCloud, with free backup for everyone. No ads, no data resale. Without an account, nothing leaves your phone. In English, French, Spanish and German. Routes you already imported are corrected automatically • GPX files are read better: several segments, a route and a track in the same file, all kinds of time formats. Large files open much faster • Follow a route: your walking direction is recognised, even when you start from the other end, and false off-trail alerts are rarer • While paused, distance, elevation and steps no longer count, and resuming starts a new segment (gondola, shuttle) • Max speed is no longer skewed after a loss of signal • A message warns you when no GPS position comes in, with a direct link to Settings if Precise Location is turned off • An interrupted hike can also be recovered from the follow-a-route screen • Map credits no longer overlap the buttons ### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-20 Summit Journal is now Hikez, and opens up to the community. • An optional Hikez account, with Apple and no email: feed, following, likes and comments • The community map: routes shared anonymously, with their ratings and photos • A monthly leaderboard of hikes recorded live • iCloud backup is now free for everyone, and turns on by itself • Hikez now speaks Spanish and German • Redesigned profile, stats and settings; save the 3D flyover as a video (Pro) • A backup copy keeps your hike in progress until it is saved Your journal stays yours: without an account, nothing leaves your iPhone. ### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-17 Summit Journal now speaks English. • Full English translation, across every screen • A language switch right in Settings — Auto, Français or English • Miles, feet and Fahrenheit, chosen automatically from your region, or set by hand Your existing hikes keep their distances, their ascent and their weather. Nothing to re-import. Fixed: the app could crash when deleting a hike, and older hikes showed the wrong weather icon. More apps by Teddy Verneuil - [Auguste: Movie & TV Tracker](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/auguste-movie-and-tv-tracker/id6759560512) - [Houlenn](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/houlenn/id6760418799) - [Marmite: Recipe Keeper & Saver](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/marmite-recipe-keeper-and-saver/id6761415326) - [Suncam: Sun Position Tracker](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/suncam-sun-position-tracker/id6796718936) - [Film 36: Disposable Camera](https://appshunter.io/ios/app/film-36-disposable-camera/id6797847037) All apps by Teddy Verneuil: https://appshunter.io/developer/1878083500 ## Related topics [hiking log](https://appshunter.io/ios/topics/hiking-log) --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
