Disclosure issue

I bought the band, and I was not informed that I would need to pay AU$199 annually to continue using it after the first year. This lack of disclosure is, at the very least, unethical.

Best BP product in the market!

I love it! Waterproof, decent battery life, looks good, comfortable to wear, app is great. Only improvements I would make would be even longer battery life and the ability to get on demand spot readings from the wristband without the cuff.

Potentially dangerous messaging on hypotension

I am a long time HiLo user and have raised this issue multiple times over the years but have yet to see any change or even acknowledgement of this as an issue that needs rectifying by HiLo/Aktiia (yes I have been a user since early days).

I have one very simple request:

Please can you recognise hypotension?

A BP reading (taken with your cuff) of 79/49 is dangerously low - and it most certainly is not optimal yet that’s what your app told me!! It is correct and expected for my diagnosed Orthostatic Intolerance / Orthostatic Hypotension / Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. This was my final reading of a NASA Lean Test I was undertaking for my POTS / OH cardiologist. I was badly symptomatic.

This message that BP is “Optimal” is incorrect, not at all helpful and could actually be very dangerous for people at risk of harm / who don’t realise hypotension can be a problem.

You need to communicate more responsibly with your messaging.

I have repeatedly raised this issue yet you refuse to amend your messaging. I find HiLo extremely helpful in managing my condition but need to be much better supported by this device and app for my needs.

You also refuse to respond to my emails, with messages now bouncing back as undeliverable. This is appalling customer service. Please do better.

Using it for 6+ months, but there is still no data from Hilo in Apple Health. All settings are correct.

Keep on paying

Like all products these days, Hilo has annual SaaS subscription costs of $199 afterwards. Disappointing and frustrating that they charge for the initial and then ongoing.

Response from developer

Dear Customer, We appreciate your comment and understand that the annual subscription can feel like a significant investment. It is true that a yearly subscription is required to continue using Hilo. As Hilo is a dynamic product with new features continuously being introduced, there is continuous research and development involved, and in some cases additional clinical validations are also required. The subscription helps support these ongoing efforts and the continued evolution of Hilo, allowing us to keep improving the experience and technology for our users. Kind regards, Your Hilo Team
