### 4/5 — Problème suite à la mise à jour réglé

*2026-08-02*

Cordialement, Hilo Team

### 2/5 — Hard to trust

*2026-06-16*

The main issue I’ve found with Hilo is that the readings appear very dependent on the calibration point. The band requires regular calibration with the cuff, and after the initial setup period this has to be done monthly. In theory that makes sense, but in practice your blood pressure at the moment of calibration can vary for normal reasons: stress, timing, sleep, caffeine, recent activity or just a higher reading on that particular day.

That makes it difficult to fully trust the month to month pattern. If I calibrate during a lower period, the following readings seem more reassuring. If I calibrate when my blood pressure is higher, the next month’s readings appear to sit higher as well. Because the app provides such granular history, it becomes fairly easy to see that the changes don’t always look like a consistent underlying trend. They often look more like the monitor is anchored to the latest calibration.

I don’t doubt that continuous monitoring can be useful, and the product is convenient. But for something presenting medical style readings, I’d expect more clarity around how much calibration affects future results and how users should interpret changes after each monthly recalibration.

The subscription model also leaves a sour taste. The unit itself is already expensive, so having key monitoring features and ongoing access tied to a recurring fee feels frustrating. For a health device, especially one that depends so heavily on software and calibration, the continuing cost should be clearer and easier to justify.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the detailed feedback. You raise a valid point about calibration's influence on readings. We appreciate your observations about the subscription model as well. Your feedback helps us understand what clearer communication is needed for. The subscription covers cloud storage, algorithm management, medical compliance, and ongoing support — all essential for continuous BP monitoring to function safely and accurately. Best regards, Hilo Support Team

### 4/5 — Apple Health

*2026-05-31*

Using it for 6+ months, but there is still no data from Hilo in Apple Health. All settings are correct.

**Developer response:** Sorry you have not been seeing any Hilo data in Apple Health. Thank you for flagging this. We keep working on Apple Health sync reliability, and we hope your next check shows the data you expect. Please contact our support team and share what you see in Apple Health when you check for Hilo data.

### 4/5 — Ende gut, alles gut

*2026-05-15*

### 4/5 — Band Upgrade

*2026-05-08*

The band quality, look and feel is poor and requires a more luxurious option. Ie materials, design and image. The band should be wider and have all black options with the metal or a brushed brass option etc.

Overall it of cause works and does the job, however it looks a little to basic and boring and need to only offer great function, but also fashionable looks etc

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! We hear you on the product design and styling. Your input helps shape how we think about the overall user experience. If you'd like to share more details about your vision, please reach out to support@aktiia.com. Best regards, Hilo Support Team

### 3/5 — Readings inaccurate

*2026-05-01*

I use an Omron Evolve and check regularly with it and have found the Hilo band readings much higher. My Omron is in the 125/70 area but the band never reads that low often 150/80 and higher. My Omron tells me my bp is optimal but the band says it is high. How is the band useful to me? It’s not a hassle to wear but it’s not providing me with any useful information re my bp. I calibrate it regularly but it still reads much higher than the Omron. Is it faulty?

**Developer response:** Dear Customer, Thank you for sharing this. A consistent difference between your Hilo readings and your Omron requires evaluation by our team. Please contact us with: Your device serial number Recent readings from both devices (time, values) How often you calibrate support@aktiia.com Our technical team will investigate the discrepancy directly with you. Best regards, Hilo Support Team

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2026-03-07*

As above

### 4/5 — Good But Could Be Great

*2026-03-03*

Too may clicks to get to the individual readings. Should be an option on the first screen that pops up to click and it takes you to the list of individual readings. Great blood pressure tool though!

### 1/5 — Terrible company

*2026-02-11*

If you’re about to download this app and use Hilo don’t, mine never worked properly, they have a guarantee return however its almost impossible to return the product, as im writing this its been 10 days since they received my return and i am not receiving any reply

### 4/5 — Good

*2026-02-09*

I'm 76 and have been using the Hilo for about a year. On the whole it's pretty good, but writing from my background as a biomedical scientist it has its limitations, - as do most patient controlled devices. It excels at showing trends in changes in blood pressure which is my personal way of viewing the results. I still get my BP checked at doctor consults and if the Hilo has taken a measurement about the same time as the doctor that acts as a form of quality control. In my work I always had 'gold standard' control samples to check my equipment, which by definition aren't available for blood pressure monitors once they've left the factory.
I prefer to calibrate more often than monthly as I found that after the calibration the results (in one month each) averaged plus then minus 20 mmHg. As a professional I could spot was was happening and recalibrate but feel that a way of using the arm cuff to get a reading separately from the wrist band could be reassuring to users.
My recommendation is yes, purchase and use the Hilo, it will provide reassurance once your blood pressure is under control. Look at the weekly and monthly graphs to see trends, and show them to your medical team if you have concerns. They'll be able to see the trends and spot operator or instrument problems. My score would be 4/5 for my Hilo model from Dec 2024. (I bought the Hilo after testing several devices and I have no connection to the company.)

### 1/5 — Horrible first experience- Unable to even sign up

*2026-01-28*

I bought this for my mother and went over to her place so we could set it up together.
Unfortunately, after downloading the app, we weren’t able to complete the setup process.
It asked “Where do you live?” but didn’t provide any options to select from.

I’m extremely disappointed with the app.
We tried on two different iPhones and encountered the same issue.
At this point, I’ll likely be returning the product.

### 1/5 — scammers

*2026-01-02*

be careful they showed me an offer telling me I can subscribe for AU149$ per year with the first year free! After spending several hundred dollars on the bracelet I wasn’t willing to also pay subscription but the first year free sounded good unfortunately straight away got charged the full amount will be calling by Apple tomorrow.

### 4/5 — Très utile mais pas facile à paramétrer

*2025-11-14*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor support and unreliable product

*2026-08-12*

I had brought this some time with high expectations and as a medical professional myself, I am not I’m at all with various factors of the product and poor services from the team when contacted. Maybe the newer updates would have fixed it but then or a new marketing strategy.

### 1/5 — Extremely low quality material and no support

*2026-08-03*

I have my hilo for a year now, it’s a Great concept and I like it very much, but my 1 star is for their low quality bands , the subsequent total lack of support and not to mention their overpriced plastic bands..
I am on my 3rd Hilo band, the first stopped working 1 month into it, second in month 8 of its usage , had to buy the third on their site since support never replied to my numerous emails and chats.. it seems like if they are good broke..
My recommendation since you’re charging yearly, make the band affordable and free to replace if it’s that low quality till you improve on the quality..
PS: the bands I used never touched water.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the delay. We are currently working through a significant backlog of messages and will reach out to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. Hilo Support

### 1/5 — Questionable readings

*2026-08-03*

Product gives questionable and inaccurate readings. Tested side by side against a blood pressure monitoring device and the Hilo numbers are lower thus giving useless heath info.

**Developer response:** Dear Customer, We appreciate your comment and understand that the annual subscription can feel like a significant investment. It is true that a yearly subscription is required to continue using Hilo. As Hilo is a dynamic product with new features continuously being introduced, there is continuous research and development involved, and in some cases additional clinical validations are also required. The subscription helps support these ongoing efforts and the continued evolution of Hilo, allowing us to keep improving the experience and technology for our users. Kind regards, Your Hilo Team

### 1/5 — Disclosure issue

*2026-07-18*

I originally posted this because I wasn’t informed that I’d need to pay AU$199 annually just to keep using the band after the first year. This complete lack of disclosure is highly unethical.

However, after using it more, the actual performance is a major issue. The band uses some kind of "black magic" to calculate hourly average blood pressure, meaning you cannot get discrete readings for a specific time, nor does it offer on-demand readings. Worse, the data is completely inaccurate. My traditional arm-cuff readings were consistently higher, while the band's readings just hovered around a narrow, safe-looking range. I actually changed my medication, and the band completely failed to detect my dangerously high blood pressure, giving me a false sense of security.

A medical tracker that doesn't track accurately is dangerous. I have returned it to Amazon as it does not perform as claimed.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. The annual subscription enables cloud storage, data security, algorithm management, and ongoing technical support — all essential for medical device operation. For information about subscription requirements, please visit our website or contact support@aktiia.com. We are sorry that this has not been communicated transparently enough. Best regards, Hilo Support Team

### 1/5 — Rubbish app

*2026-07-16*

Constant issues with the app not being able to access their cloud servers
Tried reinstalling the app twice but still will not load
They need to fix this for a $200 a year subscription

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you so much for reporting this. Our team will review this issue and fix it as soon as possible.

### 1/5 — Disclosure issue

*2026-06-18*

I bought the band, and I was not informed that I would need to pay AU$199 annually to continue using it after the first year. This lack of disclosure is, at the very least, unethical.

### 1/5 — Potentially dangerous messaging on hypotension

*2026-06-11*

I am a long time HiLo user and have raised this issue multiple times over the years but have yet to see any change or even acknowledgement of this as an issue that needs rectifying by HiLo/Aktiia (yes I have been a user since early days).

I have one very simple request:

Please can you recognise hypotension?

A BP reading (taken with your cuff) of 79/49 is dangerously low - and it most certainly is not optimal yet that’s what your app told me!! It is correct and expected for my diagnosed Orthostatic Intolerance / Orthostatic Hypotension / Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. This was my final reading of a NASA Lean Test I was undertaking for my POTS / OH cardiologist. I was badly symptomatic.

This message that BP is “Optimal” is incorrect, not at all helpful and could actually be very dangerous for people at risk of harm / who don’t realise hypotension can be a problem.

You need to communicate more responsibly with your messaging.

I have repeatedly raised this issue yet you refuse to amend your messaging. I find HiLo extremely helpful in managing my condition but need to be much better supported by this device and app for my needs.

You also refuse to respond to my emails, with messages now bouncing back as undeliverable. This is appalling customer service. Please do better.

### 1/5 — Keep on paying

*2026-05-20*

Like all products these days, Hilo has annual SaaS subscription costs of $199 afterwards. Disappointing and frustrating that they charge for the initial and then ongoing.

### 1/5 — Pages introuvables dans l’aide

*2026-05-18*

### 1/5 — App stopped working and can’t get help

*2026-03-20*

I’ve been using the bracelet and app for about a year and it has worked well. Now today, when I open the app, it appears to have logged me out and won’t recognize my account, so in additions to apparently losing a years worth of data, it is trying to get me to create a new account. Even when I do that, when I try to pair my bracelet, it says “bracelet is already paired” and sends me in an endless loop. Very disappointing! Someone has screwed up something with your app

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for taking the time to share this—it’s a really helpful observation.

We understand how inconvenient it is to manually reconnect your Hilo Band every time you open the app, and we agree that a smoother, more seamless experience would make a big difference. Your suggestion to automatically reconnect on launch is a great one, and we’ve shared it with our product team as we explore improvements in connectivity and ease of use.

In the meantime, if you’re experiencing frequent disconnects even when your Bluetooth is on and the band is nearby, our support team would be happy to help troubleshoot.

Thanks again for helping us make Hilo better—we truly appreciate your input.

### 5/5 — Hilo

*2026-08-11*

First week everything working great, very happy so far.

### 5/5 — Kidney issues

*2026-08-08*

I’m very happy with Hilo. My Husband got it for me because I have great butterfly wings.
When I used my other BP monitor half the time I would get errors and have to try several times which ends up hurting.
This has been so easy to use, sync and wear the monitor. My Dr will be happy to be able to see the reports as I am very bad for that.

**Developer response:** That's wonderful to hear! We're glad Hilo is making it simpler for you and helping you share reliable data with your doctor. Thank you for choosing us. Hilo Support

### 5/5 — Best BP product in the market!

*2026-06-17*

I love it! Waterproof, decent battery life, looks good, comfortable to wear, app is great. Only improvements I would make would be even longer battery life and the ability to get on demand spot readings from the wristband without the cuff.

**Developer response:** Thank you! Thank you for your review, we are glad to receive nice words from our users. We work to ensure that you get only a positive experience.

### 5/5 — Une application à apprivoiser

*2026-04-04*

### 5/5 — Fantastic device for tracking blood pressure!

*2025-12-23*

The wrist band is very comfortable, the set up with the cuff straightforward and the app excellent for tracking blood pressure. Love this device!

### 5/5 — Effortless and comfortable

*2025-12-21*

I was impressed by the Hilo from the first moment I opened the box. The clear and well thought out instructions, and the design of the band and the app made setup easy. The band is so comfortable and light that it’s unnoticeable. Best of all the monitoring and readouts of blood pressure many times a day makes the entire process stress free. After years of dealing with traditional arm cuffs and white coat syndrome, this device is perfect for me.

### 5/5 — Huge hardware software problems

*2025-12-01*

Purchased this only 3 days ago and the band no longer works with multiple resets. This is not a reliable product!

### 5/5 — The new update fixed all the bugs with the previous software

*2025-10-03*

When I first updated to iOS 26 the Hilo app was behaving strangely. It would open an external document called InAppFormsTemplate.html. I wrote this review and the support team contacted me
a few days after saying that they were already working on a fix. The new update fixed all the issues that the previous software version had.

**Developer response:** Thanks for flagging this issue. We’re sorry for the trouble after updating to iOS 26. Please reach out to our support team at support.aktiia.com so we can help resolve it.

### 5/5 — Support katastrophal (Chatbot) - Support super (Hr. Adamcík)

*2025-08-15*
