Hina is an application built using the Maramataka phases of the moon. With Te Reo Maori as the default language for each phase, see what Maori have used for generations as a guide for planting, fishing and living. Hina brings an interactive approach to looking at the moon and determining appropriate times for performing many of the basic necessities. Hina was created to be used as a guide with other language names for the phases of the moon. Polynesia in general has deep ties with ancestors who used the phases of the Maramataka to navigate their way through the year and survive based on what they knew as a way of life. I’ve had this phone for well over two years now and I periodically check to see if anything has changed as this was my favourite app to use and it still hasn’t. I’m leaving a review in hopes this will be sorted. A website would be good as well. However, it looks like the timing of the moon phases is slightly out. Full moon will be on Wednesday 8th March 2023 at 1am. However, this app says Ōturu (full moon) is 6th March.
