I wish the bookmarks were universal through the app, right now they are separated so I need to favorite everything twice. But at least it has a good UI than all other Hindi Dictionary apps out there. Also the developers are very responsive. The camera live detection of words is gimmicky and I never used it. Since I began Hindi lessons 10 months ago, this dictionary has helped me tremendously. I plan to take my phone to India and use it there too. I only give it 4 stars because I had to upgrade to get word pronunciation. ### 4/5 — Pretty good app *2013-08-22* This is a good and helpful app. Some things that would make it better: on the list of words put a scroll bar that will allow you to scroll through different letters of the alphabet, much like a long list of contacts. Also for the flashcards have varying degrees of difficulty preset cards of say 100 or so words for each level of difficulty, but be able to add and subtract from them as the user likes. Also putting a phrase section would be nice. And in the distant future, perhaps speaking a word in hindi and top matches show up. I would like to see the ability to randomise the order of flash cards. Would love to have the Hindi script list, pronunciation guide for each character, english transliteration, and example words. It would also be invaluable to have the capability to look for words in Hindi written in the regular alphabet (transliteration), specially for those of us who are still learning to read/write Hindi script. ### 4/5 — Worth the $! IPA improvement *2013-02-27* Cheaper than a traditional dictionary and nice that it is always on your phone when you need it! Great to have pronunciation, although it is very quick. Lots of words, and you can download a Hindi Editor to help you type out and transfer unfamiliar words into the dictionary, rather than just looking up English words. It would be nice for pronunciation to be slower, and it would be helpful for beginners if they broke down the word into vowels and consonants next to the defined word. Please Please Please IPA Breakdown!!! ### 5/5 — Excellent ! *2013-01-05, version 7.7* Very good and informative ! ### 5/5 — Great App for Learning Hindi *2012-12-22* As an English speaker learning to speak Hindi I foumd this to be a very, very useful app. The addition of entering my search word in eaither English or Hindi is a great improvement. I especially like the list of synonyms given for my search word. Another good feature is the manner in which a long kist of possible terms appears as I enter my serh word. This is helpful as i am learning Hindi, and therefore, I am usually unsure of proper spelling. It’s really disappointing for an app that costs this much ### 1/5 — Don't buy *2015-08-23, version 13.1* Half the app doesn't work. ### 1/5 — Pro version did not work *2015-01-23* This is an app with a lot of potential, but when I purchased the $4.99 pack for bonus features, the sound did not work at all. If it worked, I would have given it five stars. I emailed the developers and got no reply. I was going to use this for teaching, and without sound, it is not very useful. Hopefully this is just a glitch and it will be fixed soon, with refunds for those of us who lost money by purchasing something we did not receive. The word content is good there are lots of words to learn. The problem is the pronunciation for the Hindi words is so quick and robotic that it doesn't give you a proper pronunciation. I regret buying the app just because the only reason I paid for it was to hear how the words are pronounced. ### 3/5 — No synonyms / antonyms *2023-01-05, version 21.0* I don’t see any path or functions to synonyms / antonyms for hindi words. ### 3/5 — A decent app, but could use much improvement *2020-04-27* I use this app primarily as a Hindi to English dictionary, and I love the breadth of words it contains. The word of the day, phrases, and other features are magnificent and very handy. However, a huge issue is that the sound feature doesn’t work at all if you want to hear the pronunciation of a given word. The app also glitches when you click on a word entry, so it selects one from further down the list. This means you have to go back and search for your word again. I’d expect better from a pro-dictionary app you have to purchase. In dictionary, please add sentences, synonyms and antonyms of words. In random words, the GUI should be more user friendly. In multiple choice, if the answer is incorrect ,so while displaying answer show the question too. I have not tested all of it's functions but the dictionary, which is why I bought it, is very good. You can search in English and in Hindi scripts.
