If you want the other characters you need to buy the full version (apparently this little detail escaped the attention of a previous reviewer who unfairly gave it a low rating). What sets this app apart is that it works like true flipcards, and you can independently select which cards to include in your deck. I've downloaded 4-5 apps from iTunes and was disappointed...until now. This is a nice straight forward app with a great user interface. I had skipped over the full version of this app in the past because it didn't look like what I wanted. However, the screenshots don't do it's functionality justice. I highly recommend downloading this free version to see how it works. I like the fact that you can check the answer and change cards with a flick of the thumb. Also, that I can select a limited set of cards that I want to review. It is hard to learn with the other apps throwing all 100+ hiragana at you all at once. Here you can select the 5 to 10 cards you want to review and hit them over and over until you get them memorized.
