I personally don’t really like the app and what it decides for its “scoring”, of which myself am a bit confused about because if you follow things to a tee nothing seems to change (I’d go as far as to say it goes down), however that is just my experience. ### 2/5 — Accuracy *2026-03-22* The accuracy of the app is crucial to getting discounts and although when I first starting using the app it worked correctly. Now it changes streaks and takes down my score for apparently no other reason except to give me a smaller discount. I have not used my phone while driving and not even when I’m in the car with other bc even if you say you weren’t driving it still penalizes you. My current stres says 9. Which is not true. Be on the look out for a new insurance company as soon as you get HiRoad and only use this company in a pinch. My vehicle was in the shop for a couple weeks. I called and informed them I would t be driving and I noted the app. My monthly bill still went up 30 dollars. Hiroad is a scam that targets ppl that are having a hard time securing another policy. My bill the first 2 months was $180. I drive the same car and use the same driving habits except I drive a little less and I have the same address I had when I set this plan up and now by bills the lat 2 months are above $210. Scam. Actively working with a broker to get out of the situation I got myself into when I signed up for car insurance through Hiroad **Developer response:** Hi there, Brian - we hear your frustration and want to help provide some clarity. The streaks feature is designed to encourage mindful habits and is separate from your driving scores or discount. While it may be frustrating to lose a streak, each trip is an opportunity to increase it, and it doesn't impact your monthly bill. Regarding your max rate and monthly bill, if your car was in the shop and no trips were logged, we can't reward what we can't see. Without trip data, your bill defaults toward your agreed-upon term max rate (which you will never exceed). Our app automatically logs a trip when it senses vehicle motion, so if it did log a trip and you weren't behind the wheel, you can always classify those trips within your current billing cycle. Marking a trip as "Not Driving" simply filters it out so we only score your actual driving; it is not a penalty. Since there are a few specific factors at play with your account, we would appreciate the opportunity to review your trips directly and answer any other questions you may have. Other insurance companies over promise and under deliver. You won’t get that with HiRoad.your monthly insurance bill changes based off of your driving and being hands free from your phone. In one month my bill was cut in half thanks to me being a safe driver. This is the best insurance company I have ever been with. That’s the whole point of the app. They used to change after almost every trip. My “Safe Speeds” number hasn’t changed in months. The app also dings me even when I choose the “not driving” option. ### 1/5 — This whole company is trash *2026-01-30, version 2.97.0* Trash ### 1/5 — At first they’re 100 *2026-01-14* At first they keep it 100, then they start putting the screws to you. Seriously how is it possible for your bill to go from $50 a month to $150 a month in a 12 month period, and mind you my car was not being driven during that time because I wasn’t able to drive due to shoulder replacement surgery. So word to the wise…check your bill each month, because before you know it you’ll be having to take out a second mortgage just to pay your insurance. They used to change after every trip. My discount has gone from 44-45% pre-renewal and is now stuck at 34-35% after renewal no matter what I do. My driving patterns have not changed. Don’t be fooled by the “potential savings”, you’ll be paying the max price regardless of how safely or well you drive. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2025-05-08* Horribleeeeee, I got this Insurance thinking I would save in insurance. Especially by driving right and even completing challenges. My discount went from 25% to 1%. Keep in mind I work from home so I don't even drive as often and when I do this app reduces my discount. Even if I'm not driving! I am always making sure I have driving or not driving up to date. It doesn't matter! this app still reduces my discount! If i could put negative zero would! I mark it as not driving and still get dinged for my rate. ### 1/5 — CANNOT LOG IN AFTER PAYING *2025-03-20* If i could give 0 starts I would. I went to make an insurance policy and it let me go through every step including payment, only to find out (after payments have been setup and processed) that I cannot log into my account because I have to verify it. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem because you would just go to your email and do the extra step and move on with life. Unfortunately though, these ingenious scammers made it so not only did I not receive this critical email, but I cannot find anywhere where I can ask them to resend it. Thus I am now left with the insurance payment every month where I can never even cancel it because I CANNOT EVER LOG INTO MY ACCOUNT. Not only this, but I cant even make use of the insurance IM APPARENTLY PAYING FOR FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE because in order to access the proper documentation, I would have to log into my account which I CANNOT DO. **Developer response:** Hi, there - thanks for reaching out here. I am so glad I tried HiRoad I love the little challenges and driving insights and the discounts that come with it I am paying under $230 for my insurance and recently had my windshield replaced with my $0 deductible and it was a smooth process.
