## What is Hisab Ethiopia?

Hisab Ethiopia helps you track every birr coming in and going out - and shows you what you'll owe before tax season hits.

Built for Ethiopian taxpayers under the rules of Proclamation 1395/2025. No account, no sign-up, no internet required. Everything stays on your device, encrypted with a PIN you set.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Track income and expenses by category - salary, freelance, business sales,  rent, school fees, fuel, groceries, and more.

• Estimate tax for the schedule you fall under:
   – Schedule A (employment income, with the 7% pension deduction baked in)
   – Schedule B (rental income, individual or company)
   – Schedule C Category B (small business - gross sales)
   – VAT (15%, with mandatory-registration alerts at 70%, 85%, 95% of the 2,000,000 ETB annual threshold)
   – Withholding tax (3% on goods over 20,000 ETB, services over 10,000 ETB;  30% if the supplier has no TIN)
   – Pension (employee 7%, employer 11%, capped at 15,000 ETB pensionable  salary)

• Tap any salary entry to see the breakdown: gross, employee pension, income  tax, take-home - exactly what your employer should be doing.

• "Available to spend" hero shows what's left of this month's income after  tax and pension are carved out - separate from your bank balance, so you  always know how much is genuinely yours.

• Bank account tracker - keep your CBE, Awash, Dashen, or any other account  totals in one place. Manage them from the dedicated Accounts tab.

• Charts - pie of expenses by category for the current month, bar chart of  income vs expenses for the last 6 months.

• Receipt OCR - point your camera at a receipt, Hisab pulls out the amount  and date with on-device machine learning. Nothing leaves your phone.

• Languages - English and Amharic. pickers are in  place; full translations land in a follow-up release.

• Reminders - VAT filing, pension remittance, withholding deadlines, advance  payments - Hisab keeps the next dates on your dashboard so you don't miss  a filing.

PRIVACY BY DEFAULT

• No account required. No email, no phone number, no TIN.
• PIN-protected, encrypted database. Optional Face ID unlock.
• Offline-first. Tax math runs on your device, not on a server.
• Optional analytics are category-level only - Hisab never sends amounts,  account numbers, names, or notes off your phone.
