## What is Historic Aerials?

Turn your phone into a virtual time machine.

Explore historical aerial imagery from across the United States and see how landscapes, cities, and neighborhoods have changed through the decades.

HistoricAerials lets you view historical aerial photography and map imagery from multiple decades directly on your mobile device. Instantly compare past and present imagery to understand how land use, development, and property boundaries have evolved over time.

Because HistoricAerials imagery is fully orthorectified, locations shown in the imagery are spatially accurate. You can obtain precise geographic coordinates for features visible in historic imagery, even if those features have disappeared today.

This makes it possible to locate forgotten structures, former industrial sites, abandoned roads, historic homesites, and other lost features directly in the field using GPS.

This powerful research tool is used by:

• Metal detector enthusiasts searching for old homesites, historic schools, and forgotten locations

### 1/5 — Would be amazing..

*2026-08-18, version 1.2.0*

But their decision to litter it with self adjusting watermarks makes the loading time unbearable and the view unreadable due to all the lines of watermarks. I’d happily pay a fee to remove for the app to work smoothly.

### 1/5 — Blurry!

*2026-08-15, version 1.2.0*

How are you supposed to see and be interested in subscribing? Do better

### 1/5 — Ads and watermarks. Don't bother.

*2026-08-12, version 1.2.0*

Just use actually free government sites.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-08-08, version 1.2.0*

Copy-write stamps are in the way and if you try to zoom in -which is barely enough to see what you’re looking at - the stamp is still in the way. To make it worse the pop up Ads make it nearly impossible to use the app.

### 1/5 — Truly, TRULY Awful Company and App

*2026-08-06, version 1.2.0*

After setting the bar as low as humanly possible with the antiquated, glitchy, almost totally useless web experience, they’ve perfectly migrated that frustration and buginess into this awful app as well. And they want to charge a premium for it! In every facet of this company’s design, interface, and business decisions, it’s obvious that this is one of those companies that views their own customers as hostile enemies. Fine. There are much better alternatives out there. I sincerely hope for Historical Aerials eventual failure and cessation to exist. Adios!

### 2/5 — Not that great

*2026-08-05, version 1.2.0*

Watermarks are horrendous. Can hardly see what you’re trying to look at. Don’t mind the ads since it’s free but everything loads so slow that by the time it’s starts doing something another ad pops up.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2026-06-29, version 1.2.0*

The adds make the app very hard to use with the banner at the top and the pop ups every few minutes. Plus there is no option for a paid version

### 1/5 — Absolutely ruined by malicious ads

*2026-06-15, version 1.2.0*

This app is absolutely ruined by malicious ads. I got pop ups covering my screen telling me I have a virus on my phone! I would not mind regular ads for product but this malicious stuff is too much. Just put regular ads and they can be twice as long. I would not even share this app with my wife, even though she is into history and genealogy.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2026-06-08, version 1.2.0*

The hundreds of copyright watermarks on the photos obscure them so much they are worthless.

### 2/5 — Could be great

*2026-06-05, version 1.1.0*

I understand watermarks are necessary, but this is a crazy amount. I can't see anything. Everything is blurry and what's recognizable has a watermark over it. So basically I can't see anything. Too bad- this has awesome potential. Just not there yet.
