Boston is steeped in Revolutionary War era history, from the Tea Party to the Battle of Bunker Hill. Join me, as we start this narrated walking tour at the site of the original Liberty Tree, then follow the well-marked Freedom Trail.

We visit Boston monthly and never tire of walking the Trail. This app is the best of the Freedom Trail apps. However, the photo of BLM terrorists and their supporters is absolutely unnecessary. Makes this tourism app politically charged.

As my family used the app, the recording would skip in places.

It's designed like your music apps (Spotify, iTunes) and works similarly - so certain priorities, like phone calls, would take precedence over the audio, but nothing else should cause 'skipping.' A great way to experience the Freedom Trail even during the pandemic. Learned lots of fun new things, and the narration was very polished and well-done.

Some pages in the app have images, but it’s like all text is missing. No transcripts for the tour audio, and the “Tips & General Info,” “Help,” and “About” pages don’t have any content. (I’m using iOS 13.3)

**Developer response:** If you change your phone settings (display and brightness) from Dark to Light it will display properly. It seems as if the text color matches the background color in Dark mode with the latest iOS patch, thereby making the text 'invisible.' So sorry for the inconvenience!  For a refund, go to your Apple account, select the purchased app and request a refund.
*UPDATE: The app has been fixed, so that it displays correctly even when your phone is in Dark mode.

Well worth the few bucks. I felt it was even more informative than the other tours people were taking. Get this app when visiting the freedom trail.

The amount of content is just right and the tour is easy to follow.  The author provides directions to the next stop but I preferred using my walking GPS.  I just toggled between the tour and the GPS when required.  I would usually listen to the info about the next stop while walking.  Skip the first step - as she said, the tree is long gone.  Although by far the longest walk, don’t miss the navy ship yard.  Make sure you have your ID in order to get on the ships free of charge.  I moved from location to location, not spending much time (other than the ship yard) at any one.  Completed it in an afternoon.  Enjoy!

I was under the impression that the audio in this tour would begin when you approached a location on the Freedom Trail. It doesn’t. You have to start it yourself. It requires you to tap the right spot on your screen a few times to load each one. The text is provided along with a few pictures, so the narration really isn’t even necessary. You can read it much more quickly. 

Also frustrating is you can’t leave the app to snap a picture and have the narration continue. The narration stops. 

The bottom line: get yourself a pamphlet on the Freedom Trail and do it yourself. Better yet, pay a bit extra and get a professionally led tour.  I was watching the tour groups being led by an animated guide and was wishing I had signed up.

This was a great way to see the historic sights of Boston on our own time! We stopped for lunch and we didn’t go into all of the places that we weren’t as interested in. I’d recommend this to anyone, young or old!
