## What is Historical Markers?

Thank you to everyone who wrote me about the recent bug that cause the app to crash when using location services in iOS 10.  Version 3.5 should solve this problem! 

Historical Markers displays the location and description of over 140,000 historic markers throughout North America.  Access detailed plaque descriptions, photos, and links to online repositories of historical information.  The app allows you to display markers near your current position or browse the entire marker catalog right on your device. Historical Markers contains thousands of markers with full plaque text from the Historical Marker Database (HMDB.org) as well as detailed place information for the entire U.S. National Registry of Historic Places.  

Historical Markers is a perfect application for anyone interested in learning about the history around them, whether on travel or closer to home.

Also, please note that Historical Markers aggregates data from the Historical Marker Database and the U.S. National Registry of Historic Places.  If a local marker is not in either of these databases, it will not appear in the app.  If you would like to add a local marker to the Historical Marker Database, please visit http://www.hmdb.org.  The ability to upload marker information and pictures directly from your iOS device is coming in a future release!

We used this app from Texas to Taos New Mexico. While my husband drove, I would look for historical markers and read them to him. Even when they’re not close to the road, you can still read them from the app. It kept us busy and it was fun to learn his historical information on the area.

So the app doesn’t work, any markers you’re interested in, when you click on the map for info, the app force closes, want to go into settings, nope, app force closes. Don’t buy this app.

Several years ago, this was such an amazing resource for reading about state and national-level historical markers. Simple and easy to use. 

It’s been a long time since the last update, but there’s a new one coming soon!

**Developer response:** Hi maritimeseven.  Have no fear, I'm working on an update!  I really do want to keep the app uptodate, as I use it myself all the time. I'm hoping to have the new version ready in a week or two and it'll include a comprehensive update to the marker database as well.

I’ve had a very difficult time getting the markers to open when tapping on the pin on the map.  Some open the first time while many others don’t open at all.  If this is resolved I’ll be much happier as I love the idea of this app
