I’m forced to watch this programming elsewhere. Which is upsetting for me because I’d like to support the History Channel! ### 3/5 — Great Content; App not so much. *2026-08-14, version 11.1.1* More issues with this app. Constantly logs me out. But there’s LOTS of ads. ### 4/5 — Why wwII too? *2026-08-10* My 3 uncles fought & returned from the war. Their courage enthralled me to join up with the Army Signal Corp. in 1980. I figured the best way I could honor them & my country was to join up. Tom Hanks review of WWII clears up a lot of when & whys I never knew. Sure there’s always left out items , but the point is & I hope is conveyed to all who listen is during this war, dead numbers don’t lie. We wouldn’t be anything or as a free as we are today, if not for all the people who stood up against the evil of Japan & Hitler. Whatever side you might find yourself, you can’t be grateful enough to all the kids who came to say yes on one side & no, we want a choice on the other side. If you’re not humbled after reviewing Tom Hanks production, then you have no soul with the rest of mankind which said “NO!” This isn’t the Lord’s way or the way of compassion. Leadership isn’t given to anyone, it’s earned. Todays gov managed by republicans, should be embarrassed as well as humbled by what allowed them to run down every soul who doesn’t like tyranny. God help us all, it never happens again. ### 1/5 — The worst app experience - possible *2026-08-04, version 11.0.0* If you like watching the little thingy spin and spin and spin and never open the show you want to watch then this is perfect. I’ve tried to watch ancient aliens - all from this season - starting with the latest and trying 3 fodders episodes the past 5 nights - and nothing!! It doesn’t work! This is by far the single worst entertainment app in history! App developers you are heinous piles of human excrement - ### 1/5 — Won’t play *2026-08-01, version 11.0.0* Logged in and click on a show but it just spins and spins. Every ten minutes of a very good show, it breaks to the same eight or nine commercials that go on for three to four minutes each. I am very disappointed because the show content is good but, the frequent and repetitive commercials ruin what, would be, a wonderful experience. ### 1/5 — The worst ad filled app I’ve ever experienced!!! *2026-07-22, version 11.0.0* Joe ### 1/5 — Great shows, poor app *2026-07-18* Simple things with the app are poorly done. For example, the ad breaks don’t align with the times in the program where there were commercial breaks when broadcast on TV, resulting in ads that cut off dialogue mid-word. Then after watching the ad and rewinding to hear the word, the ad cuts off the same word and plays again. Another example is the audio of the program will go silent while the video keeps playing 1-2 seconds before the ad starts. For multi-episode series, the pop-up banner to skip to the next episode appears way too soon, blocking the screen while the show is still playing. The app creators should use the Netflix app to see how it’s done right. ### 1/5 — Ads *2026-07-15, version 10.8.1* Content and shows great. Unbearable to watch with the amount of ads and repetition of the same ones over and over. They need to at least offer an option to pay for a monthly subscription for no ads. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — TECHNICAL ISDUES ARE IGNORED WITH NO RESPONSE *2026-08-19* I’m beginning to HATE this app at times! At least 1X a month episodes are locked. When I tap my streaming service the app scrolls continuously on my new iPhone or goes to a white screen on my iPad 7 mini. The only device I can sometimes unlock (60/40) is my old iPhone 15 Max. I have sent photos, videos and numerous messages to their “technical support “ and never once have I received a reply. This is after 20+ attempts of politely asking for assistance. It’s like a black hole lives there… They need to address this issue immediately! Maybe by getting the public involved will help I’m planning on posting this on multiple public forums as well since I’m fed up about their inaction about an issue on their end. I went so far as checking with my streaming service and they told me there were multiple complaints about the same problem, however, it stems from the History Channel’s systems software. **Developer response:** Hello - Please make sure you have updated to the latest version of the app, which is 11.1.2. I’ve tried contacting through the contact button but, other than an email saying the message, I’ve gotten no help. If this can be resolved I’d give the History app 5 stars. But, since I cannot watch anything it gets 0 stars. And the last few times I try to sign in, the page to “unlock episodes” and sign into the provider won’t load. It’s just so much easier to A- have it stay logged in until I log out manually, or B- make sure the app works better. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Getting tiresome. ### 1/5 — Suddenly won’t link to TV provider *2026-08-16, version 11.1.1* I love the programming, but I can no longer use the App. I have been logged in forever in my Apple TV, and then about 4 days ago, the app said I didnt have access to certain programs until I scanned the QR code and logged in to Spectrum. Did that and still no dice.
