## What is HitstMusic?

A song plays. Nobody sees the title, the artist or the year — you just hear it. Then you slide the face-down card between the years already on the table, and three seconds later you find out whether you were right.

That's the whole game, and it works from the first minute.

WHY THIS ONE NEEDS NO ACCOUNT
The music comes from Apple Music. With a subscription you hear the full track. Without one you hear the 30-second preview Apple provides for every song — no login, no account, no subscription, no trial that runs out. One deck is free and stays free.

ONE DEVICE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE
Two to eight players, each with their own timeline. The device is passed around; a hand-over screen makes sure nobody sees the next player's cards. Built for iPad first — big cards, a long timeline, readable across the table — and condensed for iPhone, not the other way round.

EIGHT HAND-CURATED DECKS
All-Time Bangers, One-Hit Wonders, Rock Anthems, Summer Hits, Golden Oldies, Sauerkraut Sause, Fish and Chips, Hip-Hop Legends. Every year checked by hand: the game asks for the original release, not the date of whatever compilation the track sits on today.

A DAILY CHALLENGE
Ten songs, the same ten for everyone, seeded from the date. Miss a day and the streak breaks — and three days in a row unlock a joker that forgives one mistake.

HOW A TURN WORKS
Hear the song · lift the card · the drop zones appear between the years · place it · the app asks in plain words ("between 1982 and 1995?") · three, two, one · the year flips open.

WHAT THIS APP DOESN'T DO
No account, no server, no ads, no tracking, no analytics. Your best runs and your streak stay on your device. No online multiplayer, no game codes, no subscription — one purchase unlocks the remaining decks and every deck added later.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-22

More music for the table: 20 official editions join the eight hand-curated decks, bringing the library to 28 decks. Daily challenges now have individual artwork, songs without a cached catalog ID resolve more reliably through Apple Music, and 30-second preview controls are clearer for subscribers.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-08-21

No release notes.
