## What is HITTER?

Track the game. Get the reel.

HITTER is the fastest way to track volleyball hitting efficiency from the sideline, and the only app that automatically converts your own game footage into a highlight reel. You simply tap the screen once for each play while you watch the game. After the game finishes, the app generates a shareable reel, all on-device. No subscription.

Built for outside, opposite, and middle hitters. One player at a time.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Set up a tripod and record the game in landscape mode using the built-in Camera app on a second iPhone or iPad.
2. On your tracking device, tap the big button in the HITTER app each time your player attacks. HITTER computes hitting efficiency in real time. Optionally track blocks and serves too!
3. After the game, open HITTER on the device that recorded the video. Your tracking data syncs via your Apple account. The app links each play to the video and cuts a slick highlight reel.

TRACK EVERY PLAY THAT SCORES

You can record attacks with a single tap. You can also optionally track blocks and serves. Block points, aces, and errors will then appear in your stats and the highlight reel. These options are off by default to keep the tracking screen simple. Use the MARK button to save any moment, such as a dig or a long rally, without adding a statistic.

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

Create a highlight reel from your footage without using an editor or uploading files. HITTER clips every play you recorded and merges them into one video. The reel includes an intro & outro card, captions for each clip, and the player's name and number. You can preview clips, adjust timing, and set the clip length. Export options include landscape, vertical, or square formats for any feed. The Spotlight feature (Pro) visually highlights your athlete in the video.

Creating reels requires two devices as described above. Tracking stats only needs one device. Free reels include a small HITTER watermark. The Pro version removes the watermark for clean, recruiting-ready reels.

SHRINK GAME FILM

Full game recordings use several gigabytes of storage. HITTER can reduce that to one small video that contains only the plays you want to keep. You can then delete the original recording; a 12 GB game file can be reduced to a few hundred megabytes. It's free, and you can continue to create and edit reels after the original file is deleted.

GREATEST HITS

You can favorite a player's best plays to build a reel that spans multiple games. Assemble these reels from all favorites or from a specific date range. (Pro)

HAND OFF A WHOLE PLAYER

You can send a HITTER Pack to your player. This file contains all stats and saved clips. They can open the file in HITTER on their own device to build and share their own reels.

BUILT FOR iPad

HITTER on iPad provides a big two-pane studio for building reels. You can view your clip list next to a large preview window. You can track on an iPhone and build the reel on an iPad using your private iCloud sync.

REAL HITTING STATS

Hitting efficiency is calculated as (Kills − Errors) ÷ Attacks. This metric rewards scoring and accounts for errors. The app performs the math automatically.

- View live hitting efficiency for each set while tracking.
- Review a game summary with per-set breakdowns.
- Track yearly and all-time trends with splits for OH, OPP, and MB positions.

YOU'RE IN CONTROL

There are no cloud queues or annual bills. You track the plays and film the game on your own devices. Your statistics are stored in your private iCloud account. They sync across your devices and remain available if you delete the app.

FREE TO START. PRO FOREVER.

HITTER is free to download. The free version lets you track one player, shrink game film, and create watermarked reels. A one-time Pro purchase removes the watermark. Pro also includes Greatest Hits, Spotlight, unlimited players, trend charts, and per-position breakdowns. One purchase covers your household through Apple Family Sharing.

### 5/5 — Works really well

*2026-07-27*

Really impressed with this app. We used it at my daughter's tournament and it was way easier than I expected. The highlight reel came together automatically and looked great. Love that there's no subscription and everything stays on our devices. Definitely worth it.

### 5/5 — Volleyball Parent

*2026-07-04*

This app is a total game changer in the world of volleyball. I used to spend hours/days pouring through endless recordings of my children’s volleyball games, searching and stringing together highlights. Editing game footage never was easy until I got Hitter. Within minutes, Hitter can create a sports reel and calculate your player’s stats, a great tool for recruiting, or just sending highlights to friends and family! No subscriptions required, just a one time fee. All you need is a device to record the game and another device to use the Hitter app (2 phones or phone and tablet combo work well). To make it easy for other parents, I record the game myself and share the raw footage to all the team parents who use Hitter to keep track of their kids’ stats. It’s so easy and fun to use!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-24

Past games now keep the team name and jersey number your player had at the time. Editing a player's team or number no longer relabels finished games' highlight reels.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-19

Blocks and serves are here!

HITTER now tracks every play that scores. Turn on Track blocks and/or Track serves and they're
the same one tap as attacks — block points, aces, and errors land in the game summary, the
stats, and the highlight reel, each clip labeled for what it is. Off by default: the tracking
screen never grows unless you opt in.

Also in 1.2:
• TOP PLAYS — a game's Highlights opens on exactly what the reel will show: every scoring
play plus your marked moments
• MARK a moment — clip anything worth keeping (a dig, a rally, a celebration), no stat attached
• Live Activity — live score and counts on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island while you track
• Player photos — add a headshot and it appears on the roster and the reel's intro and outro cards
• In-app Help — quick answers for tracking, fixing a play, scores, and editing afterward

### 1.1.2 — 2026-08-01

Bug fixes and polish:

• Reinstalled HITTER? It now spots your synced season and offers to skip the tour — welcome back
• Greatest Hits asks before iOS does: a clear explanation replaces the surprise Photos prompt, and if you tap "Not now" there's an obvious way back in
• Deleting a game's only set now says plainly that it deletes the whole game
• Fixed crashes that could occur when deleting a game or set
• Editing sheets close themselves if the set or game was deleted on your other device

### 1.1.1 — 2026-07-30

Bug fixes and polish:

• Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting a game or set
• Favorites now show a heart everywhere they're counted (no more stray stars)
• A cleaner Home roster: each hitter's next step is its own clearly tappable button
• Recent games now list every position played, not just the last set's

Greatest Hits — literally.

Favorite your hitter's best plays in any game and HITTER cuts them into one cross-game reel: their greatest hits. Build it from the whole season or any date range, fine-tune every clip in the studio, and share a recruiting-ready reel with its own intro and closing card. (Pro)

Also in 1.1:
• Shrink game film — free. Turn a whole game's recording into one small video of just the plays you keep, then delete the original and reclaim the space. A 12 GB game becomes a couple hundred megabytes — and every play stays editable and reel-ready after.
• Favorites — tap the heart on any clip, or right in the reel player while you watch. Free for everyone.
• Spotlight — mark your hitter in a clip and a ring flashes at their feet the moment they hit, so a viewer's eye goes straight to your athlete. (Pro)
• Send a player — free. Hand a whole player to another device as a HITTER Pack: their stats and the clips you kept, in one file. Coached a team, tracked another family's kid, or want your player to have their own season so they can build and share their own reels? They open the pack and the player is theirs.
• Reels for every feed — new Vertical and Square reel formats, sized for Instagram and TikTok (the classic landscape stays too).
• Games remember their footage — reopen Highlights and your clips are just there, no re-picking.
• Reels and clips now save to a per-game album in Photos, with clean shareable filenames.
