## What is Hiwa 灯話?

As if lighting a small flame at the end of the day.

灯話 (Hiwa — roughly "light and words") is a gentle voice journaling app: just speak, and it becomes a record.

■ Just speak, and it becomes a record
No typing required. Tap the screen gently, as if touching a candle's flame, and say whatever is on your mind. When you're done, AI quietly smooths your words into something easy to read — without rephrasing or summarizing, keeping your own words as close to what you actually said as possible.

■ Start from a question
Some nights, you don't know where to begin. Choose "Start from a question," and a gentle prompt tied to your day will help you find your way in.

■ Prefer typing? That's fine too
On days or in places where speaking out loud isn't comfortable, you can write instead. Either way, your entry is treated exactly the same.

■ Read back anytime
Every past entry lives in your archive, ready whenever you want to look back. You can also export everything as a single markdown file to take with you.

■ Word Book — keep your names spelled right
Family names, your workplace, the shop you always visit. The words that matter most are the ones speech recognition gets wrong. Save them to your Word Book and Hiwa will use your spelling, both when listening and when tidying. After an entry, it suggests just one word worth saving, so the book fills up without effort. The note comes pre-drafted by AI, but you always decide what it says.

■ Stored encrypted
Your entry content is encrypted before it is saved to our database. Encryption keys are managed separately from the database, so your words cannot be read by viewing the database directly.

■ Tonight, as a card
Turn a single line from your entry into a small card lit by the flame. Never the whole entry — you always choose which line leaves the app.

■ 灯話 Premium (free 3-day trial)
AI polishing, prompts, and short replies are available up to 3 times a day on the free plan. With 灯話 Premium, all of these become unlimited. Saving and reading past entries stays unlimited on every plan.

At the end of the day, take a little time to listen to your own voice. May 灯話 be that quiet light.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9.10 — 2026-08-22

Sometimes the app asked you to sign in again even though you were still signed in — it hadn't finished checking your account before that screen appeared.

Now it waits for the check, and if it still doesn't finish in time, the app returns to where you were as soon as it catches up. Being out of signal no longer counts as being signed out.

### 1.9.9 — 2026-08-21

During the first-time introduction, the bar at the bottom could overlap the button. It now stays out of the way while the introduction is running.

Also fixed: the sign-in buttons looked too narrow for the screen.

### 1.9.8 — 2026-08-17

Hiwa Premium now has a yearly plan, priced to make it easier to keep going.

You no longer have to wait for Sunday to read your weekly letter. Once three nights have gathered in a week, the letter so far is yours to read. If you're new, there's also a sample so you can see what arrives.

We fixed the flow of your very first night: the Premium offer could appear before you had finished reading your listener's words.

Signing out now clears the local copy of your entries from the device. If someone else signs in on the same device, nothing of yours is left behind.

Also fixed: the number of free trial days shown in the app didn't match the actual length.

### 1.9.7 — 2026-08-16

New here? There's now a short setup that starts by letting you choose a listener — the one who hears you out and receives what you say.

Refer a friend, and you both get a free month of Premium. Share your link from Settings; it counts when your friend starts Hiwa from it and saves an entry.

We rewrote wording across the app that was hard to follow the first time you read it.

Also fixed: the weekly letters you received during Premium are now kept for re-reading after the period ends.

### 1.9.6 — 2026-08-15

Deepened each listener's "Who they were." We re-read each person's life and thought more closely, and replaced surface trivia with episodes that carry the actual shape of how they thought and lived. These traits also quietly color how they listen and speak. (Japanese only for now.)
