Deleting resontalking and posting the app doesn’t work. You also lack the feature to verify details on your website. So I’m kind of.. stuck. ### 3/5 — Unusable because of bugs *2025-09-15, version 25.8.1* Unusable because of bugs - iPhone 13 mini ### 2/5 — Expensive *2025-03-08, version 5.2.7* Versus its competitors it’s expensive to rent a car by hour when using either peer to peer cars or using Hiyacar’s own vehicles. In addition read the small print especially the insurance cover. ### 2/5 — Bad first experience *2024-08-17, version 5.1.5* Hired without issue. On the morning was alerted the hire would start soon. No location information was available and so had difficulty finding the car. Owner never replied. Then when trying to connect, the app crashed multiple times. Live chat with an agent revealed the tracking tech had been unresponsive for three days and so they believed the car had been tampered with. It would have been nice to know that there was a problem with my hire three days ago so I could have made alternative plans. The app should notify users when there is an issue. 2 stars only because I was refunded and credited £15 on the spot. I can see how it works for most, but unfortunately my first experience was a circus. ### 4/5 — Lovely drive *2024-06-22, version 5.1.4* This car is very nippy and god on fuel and would definitely hire it again. My only issue was the last person to use it, left it dirty inside. An due to the time I bought it back (00:34) I could not hoover & clean the interior and made me feel bad. Because whoever has it next , have the same dirty car . The Bluetooth connection WILL fail and you WILL need to speak to customer service over live chat every time you want to start the engine. They do not take 3 mins to get back to you, they take an hour each time. ### 1/5 — No luck with hiring a van - problems with app and vendors *2024-04-12, version 5.1.1* I signed up and paid the fee to check over documentation. When it actually came to hiring a van, one of the vendors was sending me messages that I couldn’t read (just kept getting notifications that he’d sent a message, but could not see any text), and the other vendor told me it was too short notice to book the van, despite him having the van available to book. I gave up in the end and just went to Enterprise. Waste of a tenner. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2024-03-11, version 5.1.0* Booked a hire in St Andrews to pick up as I got off sleeper train early morning, only to receive a notification at 4am that the booking was cancelled. Tried to book another but this was never responded to by the owner. So left with no car at all. Suggest booking via a bigger company if you want to guarantee to get a car. It also took several attempts contacting them to get the refund paid 10 days later. ### 1/5 — Not A Good Customer Service *2023-12-21, version 5.1.0* It first charges the money, then identifies the person. And if you cannot get identified, there is no refund. There’s refund on almost literally on anything, this is a neat way to scam. I have my license from another country for 14 years, I’m just waiting for my UK license to arrive, it’s on the post and I have the paper certificate, I’m still told that I cannot be identified and cannot be refunded. Is this how this company makes money? Very unprofessional. ### 1/5 — Ridiculous policy! *2023-12-03, version 5.0.9* To cut it short, I was able to register and rent out with zipcar with my current situation regarding 1. I cancel my insurance after i lost my car before due to car accident because or mechanical issue and never bought a new one again at the moment. Judgemental policies. Zipcar is way better and easier to rent out. I also don’t have issues renting out from sixt or any care rental companies. Hiyacar is acting like they are “so well known car rental company” for this over the top crappy policies. Disgusting. ### 1/5 — Scam dont pay your money will go *2023-11-03, version 5.0.8* I had to pay money to make an account which gets added as credit but nobody responds on the app so essentially that credit is worthless as you cannot book a car. I got scammed and its non refundable. ### 1/5 — I lost £10 with this app *2023-09-25, version 5.0.7* They require you to pay £10 to sign up and for whatever reason your account is not accepted they refuse to refund the initial costs. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Scan is not working *2026-01-27, version 26.1.1* License scan doesn't work in the app, hence the registration cannot be completed. Useless app and service. ### 1/5 — licence verification doesn’t work. Use Turo instead *2025-12-22, version 25.10.3* It’s been three days and still can’t scan the licence in app, no way to do it over email either. Camera access has been allowed, but instead of opening it, it goes back to the previous screen - interesting that the selfie part did work. ### 1/5 — DONT BOTHER *2025-09-11, version 25.8.1* Just download turo .... half the cars on this app they can’t even insure I booked a car paid made my way to it ... then hiyacar cancels the booking as the car is deemed a performance car (1.4 litre engine ) thank god they cancelled it I got a Lamborghini hurcan evo instead :) would give 0 stars if I could rubbish app ### 1/5 — Simply appalling UX *2025-05-23, version 5.3.0* Just what the title says. Horrific UX throughout the app. Many examples - one of which: toast saying your card number is wrong blocks the card number while you’re editing it!!!! ### 1/5 — Poor Tech and Worse Customer Support *2025-02-25, version 5.2.6* Avoid Hiyacar – terrible customer service & unfair policies Signed up and paid for verification, but the process never completed properly. Despite this, Hiyacar refuses to issue a refund, even though I was never able to use the service. Customer support is unresponsive and unwilling to escalate complaints, making it impossible to get a fair resolution. If you’re considering this app, think twice - they take your money with no accountability. 🚨 Would not recommend. ### 1/5 — Radu *2024-12-15, version 5.2.4* Absolutely a joke company, they charge 9£ to verify your and reject your application with the excuse that you have a CCJ when I never had one and have proof for that. It fails to hold or remember your location, pick up date/time and drop off date/time, requiring you to repeatedly enter it over and over again. I had three cancelled in a very short space of time, obviously they needed the car possibly themselves. Personally i nearly returned for this trip to sixt as I was very angry about my time being wasted as its one of the most precious assets one has HIYACAR i sincerely hope you are limiting how many bookings a car holder can cancel in a month/year.
