## What is hmly?

Everything your household runs on, in one private app. Track what's in your pantry, fridge, and cupboards. Save your recipes and let on-device intelligence write new ones from what you have. Plan the week, assign chores that actually get done, and build shopping lists from what's running low.

All of that is free, with nothing capped, and synced across your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac. No account. No servers. No tracking. hmly Plus adds the household: share it all with your family, in real time.

RECIPES AND MEAL PLANNING

A full cookbook, wired into the rest of your kitchen:
- Save it all: ingredients, steps, cook time, servings, nutrition, photo, and sections.
- Browse a photo-forward grid. Rate, tag, filter, and sort.
- Bring your own: import a folder of Markdown recipes in one go, free.
- Import from the web: hmly Plus pulls the ingredients and steps from a recipe page.
- Generate with AI: on-device intelligence writes a recipe from what you have, expiring food first.
- Plan by week or month, every ingredient flagged in stock, expiring, or still to buy.
- One tap to shop: send the missing ingredients to your shopping list.
- Cook and it counts: marking a meal cooked draws the ingredients from your Pantry.
- Plant-Based Only: meal suggestions leave out meat, fish, dairy, and eggs.

KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE

- Scan barcodes or use AI camera recognition to add items instantly
- With hmly Plus, fill a whole shelf in one camera pass
- Add items by voice
- Track quantities, expiration dates, and storage locations
- Get alerts before food expires or supplies run low

TASKS THAT ACTUALLY GET DONE

- Assign chores with due dates, priorities, and subtasks
- Set recurring tasks daily, weekly, or monthly
- View as a list or drag across a Kanban board
- Keep personal tasks private or share with the household
- Suggest Tasks: on-device intelligence proposes chores from the state of your home
- Can't agree who does what? Settle it with a coin flip or spin the wheel

SHOPPING LISTS THAT THINK AHEAD

- Smart Restock: on-device intelligence reads your Pantry and suggests what to buy, grouped by aisle
- Restock from your Pantry in two taps
- Check off as you go, track costs, share in real time

SHARE WITH YOUR HOUSEHOLD

Part of hmly Plus. Joining someone else's household is free.
- Invite family members via iCloud, QR code, or link
- Everyone sees the same Pantry, tasks, lists, and recipes in real time
- Live presence shows who's viewing what
- Send tasks and shopping lists through iMessage
- Run more than one home, each with its own Pantry, tasks, lists, recipes, and members

ON YOUR APPLE WATCH, AND YOUR HOME SCREEN

A full companion on your wrist: check off shopping, mark tasks done, capture by voice with Siri, complications, and Live Activities during shopping. Widgets and Control Center buttons put expiring items, tasks, and Quick Add Shopping a glance away.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS

hmly works on your device and syncs through Apple's iCloud. No hmly server. No analytics, ads, or tracking. Your home life is not a product. Export, import and restore by hand whenever you like, free. hmly Plus adds automatic encrypted backups, kept in rotation.

FREE, AND WHAT PLUS ADDS

Free on your own, nothing capped: unlimited items, tasks, recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists, single barcode scanning, the AI camera, voice capture, every on-device AI feature, Apple Watch, widgets, Siri, and export, import and restore by hand. No account, ever.

hmly Plus is the household part: sharing and member management, more than one home, batch scanning, automatic backups, and web recipe import. One subscription covers your whole household, up to 6 members, and can be shared through Apple Family Sharing. No investors, no ads.

ALSO ON MAC

Runs natively with keyboard shortcuts, table views, and full recipe editing.

Built for iOS 26 with Liquid Glass, dark mode, Dynamic Type, and full VoiceOver. A focused app that gets out of your way.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.4.1 — 2026-09-07

RECIPES FROM ANY WEBSITE. Paste a link and hmly reads the page for you. Ingredients, steps, servings and timings come across, and you see all of it before anything is saved.

- The page is fetched from your device. The link is not sent to hmly or to anyone else.
- Amounts arrive as real amounts, so cooking the meal takes the right quantity off your pantry.
- Works in every language hmly speaks, on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

JOINING A HOUSEHOLD IS NOW FREE. One hmly Plus plan covers your whole household. The person who sets the household up subscribes, and everyone they invite joins free.

- Accepting an invitation no longer asks for a subscription, on iPhone, iPad or Mac, however you open the invite.
- If someone met that wall before, send them the invitation again and it will open.
- Invitations now open straight away instead of waiting first.

WHAT IS IN hmly Plus NOW
- Web recipe import, batch scanning a whole shelf at once, running more than one household, and automatic backups are part of hmly Plus.
- If you already had any of these, you keep them. Nothing is taken away from anyone who is already using it.
- Everything you do on your own stays free and uncapped: your pantry, tasks, shopping lists, recipes, meal plans, on-device intelligence, single scanning, and backing up and restoring by hand.

YOUR EDITS STAY EDITED
- Fixed a sync fault that could quietly undo a change. If you have edited something and later found it back the way it was, this was why.
- An edit could be overwritten by an older copy from another device, with nothing shown and no second attempt, and it could happen to a recipe, a pantry item, a task or a shopping list. The newer version now wins.

KNOW WHERE YOUR WORDS ARE GOING
- Quick Capture says where an item is going before you speak, and keeps saying it while you talk. Choose Auto, Shopping, Tasks or Pantry, and that is where it lands.

RECIPES YOU CAN EDIT
- An amount that arrives inside an imported recipe as a note, like "1 tsp", now becomes a real amount.
- Mixed amounts written as "1 1/2 tsp" or "2 and 1/4 cups" are read properly, so the unit is no longer lost.
- Ingredient notes have their own box in the editor, so a recipe you imported earlier can be put right by hand.

A PINT IS A PINT AGAIN
- A pint measured 473 ml everywhere. In the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere it is 568 ml, and hmly now uses the right one for where you are.

FIXES IN THIS UPDATE
- Joining a household someone shared with you now stays joined. A fault could remove it again shortly after you accepted the invitation.
- Fixed three crashes: two when the app was used in Czech, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Slovak, Turkish or Chinese, and one when importing a recipe from certain web pages.
- Importing from a page that lists many recipes now finds the right one.
- Pounds are labelled as pounds again, in every language.
- Error messages in Backups and Quick Capture are translated rather than shown in English.

UNDER THE HOOD
- Fixed a crash that could follow a notification, and a cause of hmly closing while it was still saving in the background.
- More stability improvements across iPhone, iPad and Mac.

### 4.3.2 — 2026-08-17

- Recipes with a wide photo no longer push their ingredients and quantities off the screen, and iPhone landscape is back.
- More stability improvements across iPhone and Mac.

### 4.3.1 — 2026-08-11

STRAIGHT FROM YOUR FEEDBACK
- Change the serving size on any recipe and every ingredient amount scales with it.
- Prep time now has its own field, so a six hour marinate is visible at a glance.
- Recipes have a proper Notes section. Imported notes land there, not in your steps.
- Cooking a recipe is now undoable, and Edit sits above Cook so a stray tap does less.
- Tap a planned meal to open the full recipe.
- Reorder and remove ingredients and steps without switching into edit mode first.
- Words like "for", "around" and "pan" are no longer treated as ingredients.
- Cooking now shows up in Recent Activity.
- Plans change: open a planned meal and move it to another day or mealtime.
- Selecting several shopping items and reordering tasks by hand now have their own menu entries.
- Rows open on the first tap, and swiping one feels smoother.

UNDER THE HOOD
- Fixed a rare crash that could happen while hmly was saving an automatic backup.
- Clearer text on the dashboard status chips, and VoiceOver announces more of what changes.
- More stability improvements across iPhone and Mac.

### 4.3.0 — 2026-08-06

YOUR KITCHEN, UPGRADED
- Inventory is now Pantry. Same items, clearer name.
- Recipes got a big update: colour tags, star ratings, nutrition info, ingredient and method sections, a source field, and a photo grid view.
- Tap an ingredient name inside a method step to see how much you need.
- Import recipes from Markdown files. Bring a whole collection in at once.
- Add missing ingredients to the shopping list you choose, one at a time or all together.

A DASHBOARD THAT IS YOURS
- Reorder, hide, and show dashboard sections to match how you use hmly.
- Quick actions now sit right at the top.
- The dashboard now opens with the real state of the house, the good and the bad, and there is a Home Screen widget to match.

FIXES YOU WILL FEEL
- Cooking a recipe now updates your pantry immediately.
- Adding to the shopping list now tells you what was added, what was already listed, and what you have in stock.
- The scan button on the dashboard now does something. It reads a barcode and takes you straight to adding the item.
- Recipes no longer sit off the edge of the screen on smaller phones and larger text sizes.
- Saved filters filter properly again, and restoring defaults keeps your custom filters safe.
- Notification text now reads properly in every language.
- Fixed a rare crash that could happen while hmly was saving an automatic backup.

ALSO NEW
- See the whole month at a glance. The meal calendar shows which nights are planned and which are still open, and tapping a day takes you there.
- Swipe a planned meal to delete it, or to send its missing ingredients to your shopping list.
- Two spellings of one ingredient no longer make two lines on your shopping list.
- One switch now turns every notification off, and your categories stay as you left them.

EAT THE WAY YOU EAT
- New Plant-Based Only switch in Settings. Turn it on and meal ideas, recipe suggestions, the shopping template and Smart Restock all leave out meat, fish, dairy and eggs.
- Log what you ate outside a recipe. Type it the way you would say it, like three scoops of ice cream.

IDEAS THAT KNOW YOUR KITCHEN
- Meal suggestions now weigh how many people you cook for, the recipes you rated highly, and what you have eaten recently, so the same dinner stops coming back around.

TIDIER
- The Pantry toolbar had two microphone buttons and two sort controls. There is now one of each.
- Deleting your data now stops sharing properly, so a household you owned no longer stays live in everyone else's app.
- Adding to the shopping list now always uses a list you are still shopping, never one you already finished.
- The Pantry is better with names: unsalted butter now counts as butter.

MEASURES THAT MAKE SENSE
- Cooking a recipe now takes off the right amount. A teaspoon of baking powder no longer empties a one kilo tub.
- Recipes written in spoons now work against a pantry weighed in grams, for around eighty everyday ingredients.
- Say what one clove, tin or slice weighs in the item's own editor, and recipes written that way take off the right amount.
- Amounts under a kilo or a litre now read in grams and millilitres.

EASIER TO PICK AND CHOOSE
- Tap items in the Pantry grid to select them one by one, not just all at once.
- Press and hold a recipe to choose several at once, and the Recipes title is no longer cut off.

Much of this release came straight from your emails. Keep them coming via Support in Settings.

### 4.1.3 — 2026-07-21

FASTER, SELF-HEALING SYNC
- Your changes now reach everyone in the household in seconds. Sync keeps itself healthy in the background and catches up on its own if it ever falls behind, with no manual steps.

SHARED WITH EVERYONE, RELIABLY
- Recipes, meal plans, pantry, tasks and shopping lists all sync to every member of your household, not just your own devices. Your existing data moves across automatically.

STRONGER BACKUPS
- Backups are more dependable end to end, with full-fidelity restore. Reinstall hmly and your home comes back on its own.

MORE STABLE EVERYWHERE
- Launch and sync stability fixes across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, plus a fix for adding photos to your items.

HMLY PLUS, YOUR WAY
- Redeem an hmly Plus code from azrak.io in Settings, and Plus follows your iCloud account on every device.
- Yearly subscribers can join the hmly beta on TestFlight straight from Settings.

Thanks for all the feedback. Keep it coming via Support in Settings.
