Hmong UMC Connect is a private community app for members of the Hmong United Methodist Church. It serves as a centralized hub for churches and members across the country, providing access to church information, events, news, resources, and communication tools. Features include: - Church directory with service times and leadership information - Event calendar with registration and management - News feeds for church organizations (NHC, HUMMA, HUMWA, HUMY, VINE) - Ministry resources and hymnal access - Member messaging and communication tools - Admin tools for membership approval and role management The app is designed to help strengthen connection, communication, and organization within the Hmong UMC community. ## Version history (last 5 releases) ### 1.1.60 — 2026-07-18 Messages • In the Messages → All tab, when multiple people share the same name, each person now shows extra details to tell them apart. The layout is: Name → Elder name (if they have one, shown in red) → Church name → preview of the last message. • The last-message preview is now shown in italics and inside quotes for easier reading. Events / Calendar • Users can no longer add an event to their calendar once it has already ended (it didn't make sense to allow it). • Ended events now auto-remove after 3 days instead of 90 days. • Made the "ended events removed at midnight" note accurate — ended events now actually get removed at midnight. Church Leadership • Fixed married women's elder names — on the Church Leadership screen, women now correctly show "Niam …" (White dialect) or "Nam …" (Green dialect) based on each person's own dialect setting, instead of defaulting everyone to "Nam." Applies to all current and future white-dialect married women, not a one-off fix. ### 1.1.59 — 2026-07-07 • Approval push notification fix — Super admins now correctly receive a push notification when anyone completes onboarding, regardless of which church they joined. (This was the bug just fixed — the wrong field was being searched to find super admins.) • Report referenced content warning — When an admin taps a report that references a deleted item (e.g. a House Prayer that no longer exists), the app now handles it gracefully with a note instead of breaking. • Reports auto-delete after 30 days — Closed reports are automatically cleaned up after 30 days, with a visible note informing admins why the report was removed. • Report note visible without tapping — The note on closed reports is now shown inline without requiring an extra tap. • Calendar navigation fix — "next" button in the full calendar view was fixed • Content reporting expanded — The "Report" option was extended to more content types (News, Events, etc.), not just the original places it appeared. • Church name display — Long church names (e.g. "Hmong Faith United Methodist Church") are now shortened to abbreviations (e.g. "UMC") on the About screen and church detail screens to prevent awkward line wrapping. • Church info alignment fix — The address, dates, and times on the About screen and church detail screens are now properly left-aligned. • Address extra space fix — Removed an extra space in an address that was causing misalignment in the church info display. • Event tab memory fix — When viewing a public event and going back, the app now keeps you on whichever tab (Public/Private) you were on instead of jumping back to Private every time. ### 1.1.58 — 2026-06-25 Admin Tools • Combined buttons in the Profile screen to reduce clutter • Admin tools and My Tools buttons are now sorted alphabetically • "Manage Members & Roles" button moved under "Manage Churches" and renamed • Pending member count badge now shows on "Manage Members & Roles" button Total Registered Screen • Fixed buttons being smushed/unreadable • Added church city & state below church name, sorted alphabetically • Fixed the tap area on the Select/bulk action buttons • Faster deletion of pending users • Fixed mismatch between tile count and actual total Retired Pastors • Retired pastors now show a "Retired Pastor" role pill instead of "Pastor" House Prayers • Users who RSVPd to an approved house prayer now get notified when it's about to start (1 hour before) Resources / Publications • Fixed new resources incorrectly being added to External instead of Internal section Church Edit / About Screen • Removed manual Time Zone field — timezone now auto-set by church location • Service Schedule now supports multiple time slots per day (e.g. Sunday worship + office hours) • Fixed large gap between day and time in service display • Added timezone label (CST, EST, etc.) next to service times Dark Mode • Fixed white background flash when swiping back slowly between screens Quick Panel • Expanded to ~80% screen width Full Calendar (Mac fix) • Fixed exit button and ">" navigation button not working on MacBook ### 1.1.57 — 2026-06-11 • Backend deployment configuration — Configured the backend for deployment. • App Logs screen — "All" button badge fix — Fixed the count badge on the "All" button in the App Logs screen so it matches the style of the other count badges and is no longer cut off. • Church Leadership screen badge fix — Applied the same badge styling fix to the Church Leadership screen. • Apple Reviewer profile picture hide — Ensured the Apple Reviewer account (appreviewer@hmongumcconnect.app) does not see profile pictures in the Local/All Churches tabs and the Resources > Ministers section. • All Churches tab — profile pictures — Profile pictures now display in the Members > All Churches tab, matching what was already shown in the Local tab. • Activity tracking — auto-stop on uncheck — Unchecking the tracking checkbox now automatically stops tracking (removed the separate "Turn off tracking" button). • Activity tracking — empty state message — When no tracking data exists and the checkbox/text box isn't filled in, a helpful prompt message is shown instead of "No activity yet." • Removed excessive "Sign in required" logs — Eliminated the duplicate/excessive sign-in required logs that were flooding the App Logs error and warning screens. ### 1.1.56 — 2026-06-08 Profile & Privacy • Added informational notes to the user profile for phone and email, clarifying when each is shared publicly (tied to Privacy settings) Admin Inbox • Fixed missing badge/number count on the Admin Inbox tab — it now shows unread message counts • Fixed transparent popup when deleting a Happy Birthday note in the Admin inbox • Cleaned up inbox filtering so unrelated messages no longer leak into it Push Notifications & Sounds • Added push notifications and banner alerts for birthdays and regular announcements • Added custom notification sound (soft-retro-computer) for all notification types (DMs, group messages, news, events, prayer requests, mass messaging) • Added pending approval notification banner when a new user joins and awaits approval Birthday Messages • Removed the reply option from birthday messages — they are admin-to-user only, one-way Dashboard • Quick Actions buttons and tiles are now sorted in alphabetical order Church Search • Updated search bar placeholder text to "Search churches, city, pastor's name..." • Fixed keyboard hiding search results when typing in the Other Congregations search bar • Keyboard now
