### 4/5 — Good Tracker but fix Calories

*2026-07-25, version 26.8.4*

Whatever update got pushed between 6/19/2026 - 6/21/2026 changed the way calories were tracked. I played pickup for 1 hr and 15 minutes tonight and it calculated 226 calories burned. Maybe it was inflated before but it is severely wrong now.

### 4/5 — Great workout tracking for Hockey

*2026-05-01*

This has been a great app for track hockey and updates to My Exercise Ring after but since this last update it barely moves the exercise ring, even though it tells me my last hour workout was over an hour long. Not sure what is not syncing up but it’s annoying because I pay for the app and want to make sure it is recording and updating all information to my phone. It does update my step count, and my move ring. Just not the exercise ring anymore. Other than that, it is a great Hockey tracking app for speed, heart rate, heart rate recovery and keeping stats for the game.

**Developer response:** Hi! Please make sure you watch is also on the latest version, 26.7.1. Swipe over to settings on the watch app then scroll to the bottom to check the version number. If everything is up-to-date, go to your workout on the HT iPhone app and tap into it to view it. This will force it to sync and update your exercise ring. Shoot me an email at hockeytrackerapp@gmail.com if your ring does not update. We are currently working on updating the code so that it auto-updates your ring without having to tap into the workout. I'll update this response once the update is available. Thanks for your patience! - Jaclyn

### 2/5 — Exercise Minutes not syncing with Apple Watch

*2026-04-09, version 26.6*

While the move ring bug was fixed I now have exercise minutes not being counted towards my rings. App used to be great but has been buggy as of late.

### 4/5 — Disappointed the new update won’t install on my watch

*2026-03-21, version 26.2*

Really great program I’ve been using it for years, but two weeks ago it updated and now it will not reinstall on my watch making the app unusable. I uninstalled. And reinstalled the app restarted my phone restarted the watch and it’s not even appearing in the list of apps. I could install on the watch itself. This is really disappointing because this is the one app that I actually use on my Apple Watch.

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-03-21, version 26.2*

The designers are nice people that respond to feedback. The app is amazing and a must have for any hockey player. Rec or serious, it's the best app ever. And they just updated it to make it even better, when it was already perfect.

### 3/5 — Update made my watch obsolete

*2026-03-20, version 26.2*

I loved the app & I’ve been using it for years, but apparently a recent background update now requires Watch OS 10.6 & my Gen 3 watch is maxed out at 8.8.1. I’m not buying a new watch just to use the app, the cost of the app was enough, so I won’t be using it anymore.

### 5/5 — You should use this app!

*2026-02-17, version 26.1.1*

If you play hockey and have an Apple Watch, this app is a no brainer. I love the interface and stats I can see while I’m playing as well as the summaries I can track on my phone afterwards. The devs are responsive to feedback and questions. The cost is VERY reasonable considering other options.

### 2/5 — Too many data not available without a subscription

*2026-01-07, version 26.1.0*

Risky to subscribe, you need to be a 1/week or more skater for this to even try

### 4/5 — Great app but big change

*2026-01-05, version 26.1.0*

The way the app reports calories has changed since the latest iOS/watchOS update.

Previously, after a skate I’d end the workout on watch, open the phone app, and the calories on the phone (let’s call it an average of 800) would report to Apple Health and the Fitness app.

Now, it appears only the significantly lower number tracked by the watch (let’s say 250) is reporting through even though checking the workout via Fitness shows the higher number. Basically, only what your watch tracks is counting towards your rings.

Great otherwise, but kinda messed with how I track my workouts throughout the week.

### 2/5 — 1 Major FLAW

*2026-01-05, version 26.1.0*

If your watch goes into low power mode at any time you lose everything even after the game is over, don’t play without having your watch at 100% otherwise your going to lose all of your data , 60% of the time, all of the time, it’s more annoying than a black panther

### 5/5 — Optional

*2025-12-03, version 26.0*

Optional

### 4/5 — Solid app with room to grow

*2025-10-30, version 26.0*

Overall, I like the app I appreciate it exists and I like using it. I do wish there was a way to edit the start an end time after the game. I consistently forget to turn it off at the end of the game and it makes it look like the last 1020 minutes of the game I was lollygagging.

### 5/5 — BAMF

*2025-10-29, version 26.0*

Solid app. Lots of interesting data.

### 5/5 — BAMF

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-05-21, version 26.7.2*

New update sucks!

### 1/5 — Update made my watch obsolete

*2026-04-02, version 26.3*

I loved the app & I’d been using it for years, but apparently a recent background update now requires Watch OS 10.6 & my Gen 3 watch is maxed out at 8.8.1. This happened maybe 3 weeks after I paid the yearly subscription of $24.99 and I reached out to the developer multiple times but they haven’t responded. I’m not buying a new watch just to use the app, the cost of the app was enough, so I’ll be cancelling my subscription and deleting the app.

### 1/5 — Not reliable

*2026-03-21, version 26.2*

I’ve used it several times… only on my first skate did it actually track data. Since then there are not stats available.

### 1/5 — Don’t like the new format

*2026-03-16*

My app updated and I must say it’s missing information that was available in the previous updates which now everyone will have to pay for. It use to give max speed, distance travelled, and calories burned. It’s not showing that anymore. Thinking about deleting the app since it’s not providing me with information I want.

**Developer response:** Hi! Are you a subscriber? Your subscription helps support the continued development of the app. If you are not a subscriber, you can still view these metrics on the watch app for free. Thanks! - Jaclyn

### 1/5 — Dated

*2026-02-08, version 26.1.1*

Tried using the app and had high expectations. Will try something else.

### 1/5 — 1 Major FLAW

*2026-01-12, version 26.1.0*

If your watch goes into low power mode at any time you lose everything even after the game is over, don’t play without having your watch at 100% otherwise your going to lose all of your data , 60% of the time, all of the time, it’s more annoying than a black panther.

UPDATE: it’s getting worse and hasn’t worked in MONTHS. Now as soon as I turn it on it automatically puts me phone into low power mode, my battery was at 70%. I turn the app on my watch and instantly my watch drops to 10% and it records nothing. Fix your app please

### 1/5 — Must Read: Outdated App - Time for A Change

*2025-10-22, version 26.0*

I’ve been using the app for years, but it hasn’t changed or evolved. So many features I wish it had. I’m excited to try the new HPT.pro app being built that is launching soon (in beta now I think).

### 1/5 — Family subscription does not work, ZERO support

*2025-05-28, version 3.4.6*

We liked the app initially, bought it and now the family subscription share does not work. We tried reaching out to the developers multiple times but NO response. Be careful.

### 1/5 — Poor Sync Apple Watch with iphone

*2025-03-08, version 3.4.6*

We followed all instructions more than three times. Including fresh uninstall and reboot Can’t get workouts on iPhone.

### 1/5 — Bad App

*2024-12-13*

Can’t turn off app after playing games which makes . I have sent many emails and get no response or a simple reply. I have asked to get my money back. Really bad app.

**Developer response:** Hi! Did you try swiping left to find the end workout button? If you are having an issue still, please email me at hockeytrackerapp@gmail.com and I'd be happy to help. After resolved, please consider revising your review. Thanks! - Jaclyn

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app and team

*2026-08-05, version 26.8.5*

Wrote a 4/5 star review last week due to a bug in calorie calculation. Worked with the dev team to provide feedback on everything and they got it fixed. Love the app!

### 5/5 — Watch compatibility

*2026-07-30, version 26.8.4*

Love the app been using it for a couple years. It does everything I hoped and dreamed of. It’s always worked on my Apple Watch Series 3. Os8.8
All of a sudden it’s not working on my watch. Not sure when the compatibility changed but I’m
Thoroughly disappointed

### 5/5 — Great tool!

*2026-07-11*

Fantastic tool to track your results as well as cardiac protection built in to alert you of too high a heart rate.
Invaluable.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2026-07-07*

I’m 2 months into learning hockey and this tracker is great. I use it every time, I love the stats. Thank you for developing such a great tool! I used to manually track how many hours I’ve skated to gauge for skate sharpening too, so this app is amazing for that.

If I may request an option/adjustment- I use both figure skates and hockey skates. A way to specify which skates I was using (I log it as figure skate if I am) so it isn’t counted towards the same gear hours for sharpening time that would be so helpful, but I think I’m in the great minority on this one.

### 5/5 — Great app & excellent customer service

*2026-06-25*

I love this app and the metrics it gives me for my beer league games, but it's their customer service experience that shines for me.

I emailed at 10:40 pm on a Wednesday to report an issue with two metrics that stopped tracking in my last two games. 30 minutes later I received a response back thanking me for reporting the issue and letting me know that an update should be available within 24 hours to correct it. The next day I received a follow up email letting me know the update was live and provided detail instructions (if needed) on how to ensure both the phone and watch app updated.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2026-06-08, version 26.7.2*

Does a great job tracking my skates. So fun to see data about my hockey games!!

### 5/5 — Поправьте статистику

*2026-05-28*

Отличное приложение. Но общею статистику не считает. Или я что то не так делаю?

### 5/5 — Must have!!!

*2026-05-28*

This is a must-have app for hockey players. Whether you’re doing hockey practice, stick & puck, skating sessions, or off-ice training, HockeyTracker is incredible. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The app gives you so much useful data and insight into your skating and workouts, and it’s become an essential part of my hockey routine. On top of that, the developer is extremely helpful, responsive, and genuinely cares about improving the app and listening to feedback.

Highly recommend to any hockey player or skater.

### 5/5 — Fun tracking

*2026-04-25*

It’s nice to watch my bio stats spike for each shift, who knows if the analysis is right at all. My biggest suggestion is for an auto detect if game is over. I often forget to end the tracking at the end, when I’m busy downing beers and BSing and changing. Apple workout has this feature that detects you’re idle a while and asks if your workout is over. Could be useful here too. Cuz it seems to throw off my average shift stats by having a super long shift that’s just me driving home.

EDIT: never mind. This feature is there and it’s called “end workout reminder”. Don’t know why it’s off by default.

### 5/5 — Strava compatibility in the future?

*2026-04-05*

Love this app but would love it even more if it could upload sessions to Strava!
