### 2/5 — Extremely disappointed!

*2023-03-22, version 3.8.2*

I made the mistake of subscribing for a year, thinking I’d save some cash. I blame myself for not reading the reviews before starting a subscription.

Trying to watch the games I actually wanted to watch was difficult. I thought I was watching what I wanted and later found out it was actually a year old game (and I used ‘today’ as my filter.

The sound, and at times, the video, cut out on me, and then the whole feed froze on me.

I cancelled my subscription and was told that I could not receive a refund-the beat they could offer me was to turn off auto renewal.

### 3/5 — Please update the app

*2022-10-22, version 3.8.2*

The live feed no longer prevents the screensaver from activating on my Apple TV running the current tvOS version 16.0. 2 years since the last app update is way too long.

As for the camera work and video quality many complain about here, that is the responsibility of the arenas - not this app.

But it would be nice if you could offer cheaper subscriptions based on what users want to see. I suspect most people are interested in watching one team or one league - not the “50+ leagues” and “hundreds-of-thousands of games” made available with the All-Access Pass.

### 2/5 — Disappointing for Price

*2022-10-16, version 3.8.2*

There doesn’t seem to be any training or minimum competency for either the camera person or the announcer. Sometimes there is a radio quality announcer and decent camera work. Most of the time it seems like a random parent pulled out of the stands was asked to announce without notice, prep time, or training, and a child is asked to hold the camera and try to sit still. At a minimum a tripod should be expected for this price so we aren’t getting seasick watching these games and getting numerous shots of the ceiling instead of the play or scoreboard. Don’t expect to be able to read the numbers on the jersey or hear the numbers or names most of the time. Between the lack of camera focus and the jerky motions it makes it extremely difficult to follow. Don’t get me wrong, it is great to be able to catch games when you live thousands of miles away and even watch on demand at a later time, but it truly is disappointing for the price. A simple tripod for the camera would have made this a 3 star review.

### 1/5 — You pay and still get advertisements the whole time.

*2022-09-25, version 3.8.2*

I was not able to use the app! Every time I tried to login in din not work. So I tried to watch off the website. I had google advertisements on the screen the whole time during the game. I tried to contact them and it’s no help. Save your money go buy a camera instead. Another waste of money.

### 1/5 — Terrible!

*2022-09-15, version 3.8.2*

I paid a ton of money to these people and the feed is junk. It will take 6 hrs to watch 60 min of hockey. Nothing is more frustrating than someone taking your money for a crap product.

### 2/5 — The Website is so much better

*2022-08-29, version 3.8.2*

Add a skip forward/backward 10s button to make viewing the games afterwards possible without having to slide the glitchy bar o end up 4-6 minutes from where you were just to rewatch or find a clip.

### 1/5 — This app does not deserve even 1 star

*2022-08-28, version 3.8.2*

Arguably, the worst app ever. Not user friendly in the slightest. Customer service is horrible. As far as the quality of the games, I can barely make out the back of the shirt to find my sons number. 5 minutes into watching a game you have to squint and in turn get a headache just from watching.

Can’t get your money back due to “policy”. Obviously because they know that every single person would want their money back. A very sleazy way to do business.

### 1/5 — Bunch of crooks

*2022-06-10, version 3.8.2*

Say it’s 9.99 a month to watch my grandsons game
Force you to pay an extra 29.99 a month because the 9.99 a month doesn’t let you watch anything

### 3/5 — Got in, got out, might go back.

*2022-06-08, version 3.8.2*

I read all of the policies and promises before I paid for a month

### 1/5 — Can’t even log in

*2022-05-09, version 3.8.2*

Typed in password, got an “invalid credentials” message. Tried it again, same. Reset password on website, tried it three more times on the app, no luck. I can log into the website with the same password with no problem, but the app won’t accept anything.

### 1/5 — This app is a scam

*2022-05-01, version 3.8.2*

I decided to download this app to watch my favorite hockey team. I so do this by getting the 10 dollar subscription which allows me to do this. Although in return the app decided to not guarantee this and took my 10 bucks. What an actual scam of an app

### 1/5 — Does not play video

*2022-04-17, version 3.8.2*

APP does not play when selecting game on either iPad or iPhone.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2022-04-05, version 3.8.2*

Be warned that this is a sleazy company and you out have to be extremely careful how you cancel your subscription. I accidentally cancelled by terminating my subscription rather than canceling, which according to their “support” cannot be reversed (even though you can do it at will if you cancel), and you will not have access to a subscription you paid for, even if you have 30 days left.

Don’t bother looking for how to terminate a subscription, as there is nothing on the website that references terminating your plan, and actually provides their cancellation policy that only references having access through the end of your billing cycle.

$30 a month for a single camera that works like Livebarn is a ripoff. Combine that with their sneaky cancellation tactics and it’s clearly beat to stay away from this company.

### 1/5 — AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

*2022-04-04, version 3.8.2*

I would give 0 stars if I could. Customer service is horrible and they are robbing people of their money. If I could watch my kids games on another platform I would but unfortunately they are the only option. They charge for sub par service and constant technical difficulties. Claim nothing is their fault and put it all back on the user who unknowingly gets charged and offers no refunds. Awful company!

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2022-03-30, version 3.8.2*

I bought a monthly subscription with the intent to watch the USA Hockey U18 AAA nationals tournament, the games were almost unwatchable, the camera at the rink shook the entire game and started making me dizzy watching the game. I wanted to watch my brother play in the tournament but this was the most unpleasant viewing experience I’ve ever had watching a game.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worse than LiveBarn!

*2023-07-20, version 3.8.2*

Like an expensive version of LiveBarn but with fewer options and less reliability!

Can’t zoom in so only way to find players by number is to watch it in landscape. If watching on landscape, recording controls disappear. Makes getting highlight clips virtually impossible. It does let you “mark” a segment that you’d like to find to record but the above and below issues prevent it.

Can’t advance in increments, only option is a slide bar. When advancing with the slide bar, the video doesn’t advance so you don’t know where you are until you stop.

No panoramic view option. Only way to watch is with camera following action. Needless to say any action ahead or or behind the pack can be out of camera view.

Unfortunately anywhere they use this, they lock out LiveBarn users. I guess if this is the only option to watch your kid play, open your wallet and prepare to be annoyed/disappointed.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-04-19, version 3.8.2*

Can’t watch the full game it continues to freeze frame and also boot you out of the app in the middle of a game
Save your money and don’t buy hockey tv
Rating 1/4 star

### 1/5 — Hopelessly incompetent and way overpriced

*2023-02-26, version 3.8.2*

I signed up to watch a game that had the wrong rink #, wrong teams on the score graphic in the top left and was labeled as two different teams from who was playing. I have a picture of all this but they won’t let me post a pic. It wasn’t even a technical issue it was just inefficiency on their end. Buyer beware and do not sign up they will take no responsibility for their own incompetence. I requested a refund and this was their response:

I understand that you're requesting a refund for a technical issue with a broadcast. We apologize for the technical difficulties you experienced. We are working with the team and the arena to mitigate these difficulties in the future.

“After carefully reviewing your case, I’ve determined that your purchase doesn't meet the conditions for a refund. HockeyTV offers no warranty, neither express nor implied, on the availability, quality, or deliverability of content. In addition to this policy, there has been continued viewing use of the account”

### 1/5 — Just terrible.

*2023-02-11, version 3.8.2*

I missed half the game I wanted to watch tonight with the video freezing or the app just quitting.

### 1/5 — Terrible service, even worse customer service

*2023-02-02, version 3.8.2*

They do not stand behind their service. They refuse to refund your money whether their service works or not. They acknowledged their was technical difficulties yet refused to return my money. That is stealing from your customers. I am NOT the only one. Many people have problems being able to watch the games they paid for. Do better Hockey TV/Hockey Tech and please refund my $96.27!

### 1/5 — Mauvais service

*2023-02-02, version 3.8.2*

### 1/5 — App is ok, but HockeyTV as a company and customer support is Brutal

*2022-11-25, version 3.8.2*

It has taken over 3 months for HockeyTV to repair a camera they own in the Servus Arena in Red Deer Alberta. First they tried to lie and say it wasn’t their equipment to fix/repair. When they finally admitted it wAs their camera, they decide to send out a new camera and are now in no rush to have it installed when their contract reads “only HockeyTV can install/service camera”. So I don’t expect this camera to be operational until after the AAA Hockey season is over. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Not Good

*2022-11-12, version 3.8.2*

Doesn’t support airplay and you need Apple TV 4 generation to watch. Only way to see on the TV is by mirroring, which doesn’t do much to help the already poor video. Not sure if it is a app problem, but audio is terrible, keeps cutting in and out.

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2022-11-11, version 3.8.2*

Pay ALOT of money to not get working videos of games. Waste of money

### 1/5 — Hasn’t been updated in 2 years. It was “redesigned” for iOS 13.

*2022-11-06, version 3.8.2*

Half of the video on demand games don’t even load in this app. Need to use computer to actually watch VOD.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good app with minor issues

*2023-02-13, version 3.8.2*

All in all, it’s a good app. Sure, sometimes there are connection issues or audio issues, and while they can be frustrating, it is not very often they occur. Can’t think another app providing live updates on penalties/scores, etc., (if watching from a computer). Sure, there are similar apps like LiveBarn, but HockeyTV is one of the better ones out there - and one of the more expensive ones too, so there is that.

### 5/5 — Monkey

*2022-09-24, version 3.8.2*

Love hockey good for junior A teams you love

### 5/5 — No complaints

*2022-09-21, version 3.8.2*

Purchased application to watch my sons NA3HL games. So far so good. Broadcast and picture was fine. Not sure about other leagues but no complainants from me.

### 5/5 — Don’t trust the bad reviews!

*2022-01-19, version 3.8.2*

The video quality is based on the home team and what cameras they use! It has nothing to do with hockey TV so get over it. Complain to your hockey teams!

### 5/5 — I Like it

*2021-02-10, version 3.8.2*

Yea I know they don’t zoom in with the cameras but it also isn’t the nhl. These are minors leagues so the camera isn’t gonna be the greatest. But yea I like it

### 4/5 — Inconsistent but decent

*2022-03-23, version 3.8.2*

It’s really cool to be able to sit and watch my son a thousand miles from here play a game with an announcer calling the plays. I’ve been able to watch some games where I think the announcer was a retired professional, stats, replays, the whole nine yards. Other times the crew doesn’t show up or they grab a scratch who thinks it’s fun to pan the ceiling when the other team scores. Most of the time it’s good… I do wish they had announcers for showcase games. Also, if game is delayed it would be nice to have some message on screen. If you can’t get to every game, I think it’s worth subscribing.

### 4/5 — Good but be better

*2021-11-27, version 3.8.2*

I like watching the away games on the app, but when I tried to watch using Roku at my sisters house and it wouldn’t let me load a game on tv. Kept saying no info available so had to watch on my phone. If the app would allow you to cast to tv that would be a great way to watch without having to sign in through different devices and use code to connect.

### 4/5 — Best Investment

*2019-10-05, version 3.7.3*

HockeyTv allowed our family to watch 5 out of 6 of our billets play on Friday. I would call that a great investment.

### 4/5 — Not to bad

*2018-03-23, version 3.1.2*

When I use HockeyTV sometimes I have issues with lag or sometimes sending me back to the beginning when the broadcast started, but other then that the games are clear.

### 3/5 — Decent for what I want to watch

*2022-10-30, version 3.8.2*

Leaving a review now for the app, not the leagues and broadcast quality, for which they cannot control the quality. I’m not watching my relative’s peewee or college matches. I’m watching professional euro hockey. The app does the job. I can watch the service across multiple devices. Up until recently, the tvOS app would time-out to the screensaver mid-match. That has been corrected. The content organization, user interface, leagues, favorites and performance are acceptable. Unlike the Amazon Fire app, the favorites actually exist as do sensible league names, icons and organization. Do I want more content for the price? yes. Would I jump to another service that provided the content I watch? In a heartbeat.
