### 2/5 — Can’t pick equipment type

*2025-10-28, version 2.1.5*

App is broken. Pass

### 1/5 — Does not work with iPhone 15 pro

*2023-10-19, version 1.3.2*

The app does not work with the new iPhone 15 pro. I have sent two emails asking for help and no response. Please fix and I will change my rating.

### 3/5 — Love the app but it won’t download exercise contant

*2023-09-23*

I just received my new iPhone. When I open the Hoist app, I’m prompted with the option to Download Exercise Content. When selected, the progress bar advances, but nothing downloads. I use this app every day and love it! I need the exercise content so I can setup my personal muscle selections, sets and reps so I can continue with my workouts.

Please fix soon!

### 1/5 — Update required

*2023-09-18, version 1.3.2*

I just purchased the Hoist MI7 Smith machine and love it. The app is very poor. Does NOT have anything on it applying to this apparatus! Very disappointed!

### 3/5 — Viele Geräte fehlen. Nur für dünne Finger.

*2023-04-07*

Eigentlich coole App aber es fehlen viele Geräte von Hoist, bzw. Ganze Serien, wie z. B. ROC IT. Also für 84kg muss man 840 tippen.

### 3/5 — Where is the hoist V5?

*2022-12-11, version 1.3.2*

This app and the site is confusing in that I can’t find the product that I am looking for.

### 1/5 — No model h2200

*2022-11-22, version 1.3.2*

I can’t find the hoist h2200 model on the app help

### 1/5 — Lies

*2022-11-03, version 1.3.2*

The app has nowhere near the number of exercises that they brag to have. In fact, they only have 13. The illustrations are terrible; some of the wrist positions this dude is in are dangerous. I just downloaded it and I am going to delete it now. This is a joke of an app.

### 3/5 — Too many exercises in workout routines

*2022-08-21, version 1.3.2*

I downloaded this for my Mi6 and the amount of different exercises that can be done with this functional trainer/gym is amazing. The information is so much that it’s a bit like drinking from a fire hose to be honest. Especially when it comes to the workout routines included. Wow. The “beginner” routine to follow is sixteen different exercises long… at 3 sets a piece. Start at breakfast and finish at lunch. Yikes. I always read the routines should be done within 40 minutes or so. Seems like a lot for someone just starting out. I thought there would be like six routines for novice/beginners to choose from with half that much for variety targeting different muscle groups. It feels like the routines in the app are more geared toward demonstrating the variety of exercises one can do ( which are many) instead of a thought out routines for the real world. That’s my only complaint with the app. The machine itself is well manufactured and worth every penny. 3 star for the app. 5 star for the Mi6.

### 1/5 — Only MI1 exercises available

*2022-07-04, version 1.3.2*

Part of the advertisement of the MI6 is the app. It was disappointing to find that the app only caters to MI1. Even those exercises are limited. I would gladly change my rating if MI6 was added.

### 2/5 — Hoist App and syncing with Fitbit

*2022-04-05, version 1.3.2*

Hoist Developers should work with Fitbit Developers to help coordinate being able to track accurately in the Fitbit App.

### 1/5 — Only one machine?

*2021-10-28, version 1.3.2*

I have a V4, but only the M1 is featured on the app. Judging by the app updates and the Hoist YouTube channel, I’m guessing that app/video support is not a priority for Hoist. Disappointing, as the app was a selling point for this piece of equipment.

### 1/5 — NEEDS TO BE UPDATED

*2021-08-08, version 1.3*

Only has workouts for the Mi1 machine

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Equipment-10 Technology-0

*2026-01-06, version 2.1.6*

This company makes great equipment, but has zero ability to improve an app to work with that fantastic equipment. Instead, they ruined what used to be a very usable app, causing all previous saved user data to disappear.

### 1/5 — App is a Library, Not a Workout Log App

*2025-08-16, version 2.1.4*

The updated app is an excellent resource for individual exercises. Good video demonstration, great linkage between muscle groups and recommended exercises. Unfortunately, that is all the app is useful for. Keeping track of workouts and progress has regressed from prior versions to be totally useless. Not tracking daily workouts, not loading prior workout weights, inferior user interface. I am now tracking workouts on a spreadsheet and only use the app as a stagnant library. Such a shame to have a large captive customer base and not support it with a dynamic and value added app.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-01-30, version 2.0.9*

I was very excited about this app when I bought my Hoist V4 Elite (summer 2024). I liked the library of workouts, pics/gifs of exercises. Unfortunately, we’ve both lost all of our work out history twice now. I won’t be logging anything in this app anymore… what’s the point?

The new updated (blue) version is NOT user friendly. Harder to create your own workouts, etc.

Other than being a reference library of exercises, it’s pretty worthless now.

### 1/5 — Tracking sets, weight and reps makes no sense

*2024-12-30, version 2.0.9*

I love my Hoist V4 Elite. The new version of the app will get better. But as of December 2024, tracking your workouts is impossibly poor. The workout library is impressive and I like the addition of full motion videos to demonstrate proper form. Previously, we only had 2-frame GIFS. Another improvement, the navigation is improved. It’s far easier to get to my daily workouts in fewer clicks. But man, the workout logging is not minimally viable. To the product owner: focus your team’s efforts here. You can make this great. Thanks.

### 1/5 — The Worst Update Ever

*2024-12-09, version 2.0.4*

Erased all of my workouts and workout history. New app has the option to recreate my old workouts but will not allow it. Several issues with navigation and certain functions do nothing and just freeze. The new layout is good but it seems as though no user testing was done at all. It is a downgrade and severely impacts future purchases from Hoist. Bad programmers, bad launch.

### 1/5 — Unusable!

*2024-12-06, version 2.0.3*

Don’t update if you expect to continue to use your previously saved workouts or even create and save new ones with preset weight, reps and sets. I use this every day and now I can’t. It just doesn’t work. There’s not even a way to delete daily workouts if you no longer use them.
Is this a new norm to completely redesign and release unusable apps like Sonos initially did back in May 2024?!

### 1/5 — Bad Update

*2024-12-06, version 2.0.3*

They updated the app and I lost over 2 years of data. New version not intuitive at all.

### 1/5 — Not great

*2024-03-24, version 1.3.2*

The app functions as a digital poster for what your machine can do for exercises and tried to do a little more by adding a log. A lot of us have Apple Watches for that so it doesn't add anything at all for me. It doesn't say once you click into it what muscles you're working on nor does it offer suggestions for reps and sets which would be super helpful. It leaves me feeling like there is a lot more to be desired.

### 1/5 — Hoist app is for Mi1 ….so what if you don’t have it?

*2023-12-05, version 1.3.2*

Love the Hoist Mi6 (even though installation manual made me curse several times). But the companion app is a diff story - clunky nav,m, it features videos for Mi1 but the Mi6 and Mi7 are diff machines and there’s no way to switch the app to that. Also, it enables you to add a workout and corresponding exercise but it doesn’t allow you the pick a muscle and then select the exercises (the app does have a muscle to exercise feature but not when you are putting a program together). Also no way for entering reps, weight progression or time. Trainers cannot give you a program that you can collaborate on, also for them to see progress. No means to connect to video to record your session. It is just too rudimentary and needs work.

### 1/5 — Not work with new IPhone 15

*2023-10-25, version 1.3.2*

The app doesn’t have any content

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s Good

*2026-02-04, version 2.1.6*

I actually really like this app, it’s great for reference of workouts, how they suggest to do a workout, and comes with videos.

It’s much faster than pulling up a YouTube video.

Only thing I wish is they would add more videos, there’s a lot of workouts the equipment can do that’s not in the app.

I’m not going to deduct for that, because it’s free with is awesome.

### 5/5 — Update to my earlier post

*2023-10-31*

I was able to find how to select different exercise machines/equipment. I didn’t see the list initially because it’s pretty much obscured by the Dynamic Island on my iPhone. Click on the three bars in the upper left corner. Then tap on the Hoist name in Orange in the upper mid part of the screen below the Dynamic Island, and then select your machine.

### 5/5 — Good

*2023-07-16, version 1.3.2*

Thanks for the opportunity and information provided, very informative

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2023-07-11, version 1.3.2*

Lots of info and easy interface

### 5/5 — Génial!

*2021-09-04, version 1.3*

L’apps est génial, elle est un bon complément et une bonne référence pour s’entraîner avec les appareils Hoist Fitness! Super!!

### 5/5 — Great App, Great Company, Great Equipment

*2021-08-04, version 1.3*

I first tried the HOIST Mi6 functional training system at a local fitness equipment store. That’s where I learned about this app from HOIST. I’ve not yet purchased the Mi6 but wanted to try out the app. I’m impressed with the app and appreciate that it’s free. I’m currently using a cheap DIY home gym setup using mostly tension bands and dumbbells. This app gives me a good overview of workouts to consider. No doubt, having an Mi6 system would be much nicer and versatile, but for now, using this app and some home exercise supplies, I can do quite a bit. If you’re on the fence, and considering whether you should spend 30 seconds downloading the free program, I’d say go for it. What’s nice about free apps is that one doesn’t need to rely on reading reviews. It’s easy enough to just download, try it, and decide for yourself if you want to make a further commitment to using it.

### 5/5 — Mi1 Hoist

*2021-03-29, version 1.3*

This app is perfect if you own the Mi1. It shows several exercises you can do on it and tracks progress.

It is not a general gym app, so don’t use it as such.

### 5/5 — Mi5

*2021-03-02, version 1.3*

It’s not just mi1
Tap arrow by mi1 and all the models come up

### 5/5 — Only for the Mi1, not for Mi6

*2021-01-27, version 1.3*

Downloaded this when I purchased the Mi6, the machine has a sticker to download this app but none of the workouts work with the mi6 machine... Only works with Mi1?

### 4/5 — Can’t Scroll

*2025-01-11, version 2.0.9*

Exercises are fine, when new workout is saved, can’t scroll down to all exercises chosen
